I’ve got an absolutely horrible 64mb onboard graphics card, but it runs Half-Life 2 fine (I can even slog through Lost Coast at like 15fps). Now I intend to buy the Orange Box when it comes out in physical form here on the 19th, but the system requirements say I need a 128mb graphics card all of a sudden?
What’s odd about this is that none of the individual games seem to have any higher requirement… I don’t get it.
I’m not sure on the technical aspect, but for sure you will need a better card. Just from experience, I can run HL2 fine at 60fps, but some parts in portal bring my fps down to about 20 (has to be something to do with all that portal technology and seeing yourself through portals and fucked up physics when you enter and exit portals and such).
I’m gonna go back and play Portal’s hard levels now. And go through Episode 2 on Hard and finish getting all the achievements. Only reason why Episode 2 isn’t as good as HL2 is because HL2 is longer lol. Other than that Episode 2 was amazing. ALTHOUGH. The final battle with the Strider in Episode 1 was better than the the final battle in Episode 2. Because of a certain item in Episode 2, they were just too easy to kill. I never felt that sense of dire urgency found when you fight a Strider without that item.
Episode 3 is gonna be the greatest thing ever. I bet on janky snowmobiles and the return of freezing damage! AND MAYBE. Just fucking maybe, we can get the combine sniper rifle, the S.L.A.M, and the portal gun (seriously).
Seriously man, I’m the same way right now. I don’t even feel like playing Halo 3 either, just knowing there is so much to do with the Orange Box. good thing I got it for PC though, would really hate to have it lag like a lot of people are saying it does.
The only thing I know for sure is that the game can only run up to 12 players, as opposed to the 360’s 12 players, and PC’s 24(is supposed to be 32, but Valve has it locked for some reason).
I haven’t noticed any 32 player PC servers. Seems like the majority of what I see is 24 players. I have my filters set to <100 ping, not empty, not full, no password. Maybe there are some 32’s outside my filters shrug.

How does the friends thing work in Steam? I tried to add my friend “morgaca” but it said he couldn’t be found. Yet I had just played TF2 with him moments prior. I even went to the “recently played with” list, and found him on there and added him that way. Then it said he hadn’t been online for over an hour, yet he was on that very moment. I’m new to Valve/steam/source/stupidprogramnicknames, so what’s the deal? Or is the friend interface just glitchy?
Steam friends has always been a little wonky. Adding my just username usually doesn’t work because they’re not unique to each account. Adding my email works a little better, but still has it’s glitches.
My bad, meant to say 16 for 360, 12 for PS3. And while the PC version CAN run 32, for some reason, none show up, so I just listed 24 since that seems to be the highest number.
