Went ahead and sent one right now for you
I didn’t get one either! steamname is jeremycarrier. In-game, I’m “Grant Morrison”.
Just got it. Thanks!
Guess what?
The Demoman comic explains why he wasn’t present during Meet The Spy. I just got that.
Sent, just because Grant Morrison wrote one of my favorite comic arcs of all time (New Xmen)
Exactly.
Fuck the Spy.
I mean, if you love the class, if it’s fun for you, then knock yourself out, but I could never deal with that kind of frustration.
I don’t know why people think demo is so hard to play as. The only thing that’s difficult is nailing someone with a pipe bomb, and that’s about it.
I don’t think the Spy is very difficult, either. As soon as you get a few basic habits down you’ll start backstabbing people like no tomorrow. The most difficult part about the class is when your team has a bunch of them already and you basically are left with no way to be constructive because your enemies are spy checking like if they keep doing it they’re going to win something.
Basically, save ~40% of your cloak meter to run away with after you’ve back stabbed someone. Use the regular watch so you can recharge your meter with metal that lies on the ground (this is a LIFE SAVER) and watch for ledges. I know this sounds silly but one of the best ways to kill people as Spy is to decloak above them and drop behind them for the kill.
Also, use tr_walkway to get down side stabs. There’s a lot of other stuff too but I’d just recommend watching a “How to Play Spy” video on youtube.
The hardest class to play (to me) is either Engineer or Scout. Engi is hard because by now people have been dealing with sentry guns for more than a decade and they aren’t surprised by them. Sure Engi was easy as fuck in the first couple of years of TFC, but times are changing. It’s very easy to build a SG and then get 2-3 kills and then nothing until an ubered demoman comes around the corner. Staying productive as an Engi can be hard as fuck. I never pick good spots for a base, either.
Scouts are hard just because of the weaponry you’re forced to use and you have to know how to disengage and re engage. It’s a little too twitchy for me.
At the end of the day though, people at god-tier status with any class can be impressive (except maybe Heavy).
make sure everytime you body kill a rival sniper you taunt
I was doing that when I started playing as sniper.
Kill…switch to Kukri…then taunt.
- Be polite.
So the new Demoman ideas sound alright, I just don’t know that I’d call a bloke with a sword & shield a ‘Demoman’.
Damn straight
The Demo’s new weapons can be pretty beasty. It takes away your ability to sticky defend shit and uber/kritz stickies to destroy sentries and shit. But with the resistance with the shield, you stand a better chance against Soldier/Demo/Pyros, and improve your close combat chances(which, unless you’re really accurate with pipe bombs, was always gonna be problematic). This is gonna complete change the way people play demo; its almost another class entirely! It can be very interesting.
Will Demos be able to wield both pipe bomb launcher and shield at same time? I could see that being pretty handy, but it just has him wielding the shield & sword, never the shield & pipe bomb launcher.
It’s the second shield in the game, hm.
Yeah, you can still use the pimp bomb, the sword replaces the bottle.
Yeah, so 65% reduced explosion damage running into an area defended by soldiers wielding a pipe bomb launcher + being an amazing demoman sounds like a hilarious proposition. Pyros be bouncing his shit back in his face and he’s like “I DON’T CARE BITCH”.
Or better yet, if you charge in the room with the shield, and start hacking off heads, giving your more health and speed. And then you can throw a medic into the equation for overheal.
Demo = New, faster Heavy.
I don’t think so. He won’t be able to hold an offensive line like a heavy can at all. Running faster than your medics can support will pretty much guarantee this.
I have to say, I love being pyro with all these Demos running around. Soldiers make life difficult if you don’t approach them intelligently, but stick to tunnels and such and you can dominate. I was just tearing a server a new one with Pyro because Demos and Snipers are NOT prepared for close combat.
When I play Engee, I sometimes do on offense. My main goal is not sentry action. It’s teleporters. Getting the teleporters to lvl 3 and a dispenser up is usually my primary goal. On offenses, I build an annoyingly placed lvl 1 sentry. Usually in heavily clustered areas to take “pot shots” at enemies my teammates are currently fighting. Sure, they are weak and easily dispatched, but in a way thats kind of the point. If no one destroys it after so long, I do it myself and move it elsewhere.
On defense, I play a more traditional Engee though. My main class is Demo, and I LOVE the new weapons announced, can’t wait to use that sword.
Actually, the shield replaces the sticky launcher. And the Sword + Shield are two seperate weapons.
And I can never tell if “pipe bomb launcher” means sticky or grenade launcher ;x
