I think you should make it Public. It keeps the essence of what you’re trying to do (create a place for SRK members to play TF2), while make your server more lively.
Also, can you mod it to 35% crits? I always play on the Lil Rascals 35% crit server. Fun as hell, and its not hectic as one would imagine hah.
Yeah, 24 slot (even 16 is good to me) public server is good. I’d say put some mods in that let users vote on mapchanges, kicking, stuff like that and be good to go. Get some of the competitive mods and start running that on weekends or something. I’d hop on the server to play whenever I needed my TF2 fix.
The only downside I can see is that with L4D2 coming out on tuesday, I think that the TF2 activity is probably going to be taking a hit for awhile across the board, so it may be harder for a new public server to actually get going.
Also, good games tonight… Taunt Killed by Jammar’s heavy = LOL! But reflecting your teamates rocket at you made up for it! Those Nucleus matches were intense, had a lot of fun. CP_Steel was alright, but just wasn’t feeling it. I like the CP Matches where theres multiple capture points open at once, rather than the defense being able to stack the point so easily and hold out. Last weeks matches were a bit funner, maybe it’s because of the maps we were playing? Not really sure I could put my finger on it, but this week didn’t hold peoples interest enough to get anything big going outside of KOTH_Nucleus

Is there any way for you to make it so SRK members get precedence over other people? If they’re on Team SRK or whatevs.
I felt like we spent a long time on steel. Unfortunately it was not exactly fun the entire time like say dustbowl would be. I think the best map choices/types we’ve done so far are any koth, most of arena, dustbowl, and turbine (with modified respawn time).
I believe what you are referring to are reserved slots. Community clan servers utilize that so when they hop in a full server, someone else not from the clan gets the boot.
I was totally yomi’d out tonight as a Pyro. I was just keyed into the rockets and was CBing em like there was no tomorrow. It got to the point where I’d LOL whenever people actually started shooting them at me.

Art of War Central man, I’ve gotten better service out of them. Gameservers always makes me spike randomly.
I might check out that Art of War Central, I’m thinking of setting up a dedicated L4D2 Server. I wish they had a socal server set up, though I might just do it out of San Jose, or Texas (Texas is more central at least, but I want low ping to myself! hah)
Next week, let’s stick to arena or KOTH, or stuff that works. Usually when the map votes come up, I vote for what’s familiar because I don’t know a lot of maps by name, then I see them and I’m like “Oh, right, this one”
I would imagine the lag from LBC to SJ be minimal, but that also depends on your connection and their up rate.
Yeah, it shouldn’t be that bad, when I get home from work I’ll check one of their test servers and see what the ping is like. I actually have Fios at home, so I should get great pings to anything that local. I do know on the TF2 server I was getting like 90 ping or so, which isn’t bad, but isn’t great, and thats in Chicago, which makes me think a Texas Server wouldn’t be such a good idea either.
A TX server (from our location) would only be worthwhile if we know lots of people in a clan and they’re across the U.S., making both ours and their pings medial.

So I just got a fairly beefy laptop and I wanted to try my hand at making maps in TF2. If this plays out, who wants to help me playtest?
