Fuck Valve and their shitty drop system. I had all the items before and now I’ve lost 96% of my items.

This is what I got left:

I mainly idled for The Sandman, but whatever…
I idled for hats because the drop rate is stupid. So I lost my unlockables. Really stupid fucking move by Valve. I’m pretty furious.
Ohhhh…nice!
I think I’ll play tonight.
i did not idle
i still have all my items
i did not get a halo
i am confused
Apparently you need at least four (non-bot) people the same time for steam to start distributing items.
My avatar? Did you just volunteer to make me a new one? :wonder:

Nothing lost here, can’t believe I didn’t have a single medal, hat, nor razorback heck :[.
This is funny. I idled for awhile, didn’t get jack SHIT. Now, I’m actually being rewarded for that.
Yay karma!
ok i just got my halo
its kinda neat
Oh no, I lost all the shitty unlocks I didn’t need anyway!
Stupid hat system can suck a dick
cool free halo
Halo wearers are actually being ostracized in servers out of anger at this change
It ranges from classic internet verbal attacks to medics not healing them to being kicked/banned from servers altogether for wearing the halo.
So I wouldn’t put it on for a while until people calm the fuck down about it, lol
I idled but didn’t get shit. Lost most of my backpack though. I still have all my medic items and those are the only ones I really used so my game isn’t hindered at all.
Can’t be mad about it. I anticipated something like this(although not to this extent) months ago.
no shit?
lmbo at all the babies QQing that they cheated adn lost their shit
I lost one hat and a bunch of weapons.

What kind of mic do you guys use?
The thing is, it’s not really cheating. I can do the exact same thing now (idling), only to do it I’m forced to use the actual client, and keep it minimized in the background. Thats Alright in valves book.
But if I use a lightweight client to do the same exact thing, then suddenly it’s bad.
I think what gets me the most is the punishment vs the action. They never came out and said that idling wasn’t allowed, they just ignored it the entire time. If they had said “Hey guys, starting from this date, idling will result in losing your items” thats one thing, but they didn’t do that at all. It was a blindside.
Months ago, when people used the achievement unlocker to literally get all the items in an instant, their punishment was to lose their items… for a week. That was far worse, actually using a client to get around the achievement system, and it was a much lighter punishment.
It’s just the principle, I had already unlocked the weapons I used anyway, so losing the stuff I got idling wasn’t a big deal, and after 2-3 weeks of idling, I didn’t even have a hat anyway, so its no loss. And seeing how long I had spent idling (400+ hours probably), and with no hats, it’s not like I would have gotten one by actually playing anyway in the same time. The hat system needs an overhaul, so they hopefully take this as a sign to get working on a fix
Here’s my stance on this. Mind you I’ve never idled, lost nothing, and gained a halo.
Using the idle program is literally the equivalent to the achievement unlocker. Both allow you to get items by not playing the game. Simple as that.
I agree that Valve definitely should have given warning though. And the fact that they used a harsher punishment than they did for a similar event is also a bit disconcerting.
However, you have to look at it from the non-idler’s point of view as well. Valve had openly stated that they didn’t like idling, but could do little about it. Had they ever announced that idling would be punishable in the future, it would’ve been spitting in the face of those that chose not to idle after hearing Valve’s displeasure. It would’ve literally been saying “Hey everyone who didn’t idle, thanks for not doing it. While you could have done it before and got a hat, now you can’t do it at all. Oh yeah, and everyone who did gain something through that system we dislike keeps their stuff. Guess you should have idled.” It literally would’ve been too little too late.
I almost stood completely behind Valve in this situation, but I see the achievement_idle servers are still up, so I choose to remain neutral. I can comprehend some of the complaints, but many of them are just as unjustified as Valve’s actions.
Its just a hat… I mean seriously whats the point of idling for somethign that has no gameplay difference. If you want a hat just go make a new skin for your character or something. Achievment unlocking to get game changing weapons is not exactly the same thing, but its similar.

That first one is ass, but the second one has fun possibilities, especially with a medic.
It’s a status thing, as well as human nature.
You’re not going to win that argument.
