Alright guys, with T9 in the books and none of the GTASF attending EVO World, I’m starting the planning for Seasons Beatings III. Last year’s Seasons Beatings was the most fun I’ve had at a tournament in a long time and I’m not missing out this year. I’m hoping we can put together a huge 3rd Strike team like last time and take it down this go around. I’m going to watch all the sick Marvel. The GG guys really should set this tournament as their goal to see if they’ve actually improved after the whooping Marn and Peter laid down. LET’S DO THIS!
This is a one day tournament. We’d be leaving early Saturday morning (hopefully no later than 6:00am), so we can get there around 11:00am. The tournament runs from 12:30pm - 4:00am and we’d be back home on Sunday afternoon. No one misses school or work or any of the other junk associated with two day tourneys.
PRICE BREAKDOWN
Car Rental (Minivan):
$60 x 3 (Friday - Sunday) / 7 = $26
Car Kilometres (We get 600km free)
1400km total
(1400 - 600) *.15 / 7 = $17
Gas (We’ll say 3 tanks total)
3 * $90 / 7 = $40
Hotel (Two Double Beds)
$95 / 5 = $19
Entry Fees
$20 Site Fee
$10 for every tournament entered
It’s a pretty cheap trip (with your food you’re looking at $150). If people take their own vehicles then it drops even more as you don’t have rental costs like I’ve factored in. It’s an awesome venue with tons of space, lots of TV’s, couches and chair everywhere so you can relax, lots of places to get food and the trip itself isn’t that long (Noodleman made it in like… 4 and 1/2 hours?). Give it some serious thought and come down. You won’t regret it.
it would cost more to stay an extra night in a hotel but wouldn’t it be safer to leave friday night and get their early saturday and get some hours of sleep.
if u get held up at the border, u would be cutting it pretty close
Samir’s cheating accusation stemmed from EVO East 2007.
That’d be awesome if you guys came down. I know it’s a longer drive for you than us. It’d be great if Canada was holding it down instead of just GTASF. The CvS2 tournament would be nasty too.
Justin you should probably put the date somewhere in the post, I had to find the actual thread.
I’m probably down if you need ppl to go, but I’m not really looking to join any tourneys I just wanna watch. Just list me as a reserve if you can’t find real players to reach.
Chris Schmitt/Deus/Chunksta/JMar/Rowtron vs Demon Hyo/Smoothviper/Yipes/Sanford/Justin
OH… MY… GOD! SO THERE! SO FUCKING THERE!
Teddy; no offense but I don’t think I’m going to have trouble filling seats. We all know none of us is placing (especially in Marvel) outside of 3rd Strike so if you want to come for the Marvel insanity like everyone else then grab a seat.
Alright I’m down, I just really don’t want to chaunce someone that’s actually gonna do something, so if you can ship a seat it’d be nice, otherwise no big deal.
From what I’ve seen we’re going to need at least three cars. I think it’s probably in everyone’s best interest if there were a couple cars coming from the east end like last year and another one or two from the west end. I’m going to rent a van and my preferred setup would be something like:
Me
Jason
Teddy
Gerjay
Bryan
Roger
Jamie
I’m literally asking those six players first if they want in before opening spots. I’m sure TOSF can put together a couple of cars for all of the 3S talent and another car should be filled with Guilty Gear players (first time ever?).
Alex; can you co-ordinate the Guilty Gear players? I know you drove last year. If you could do it this year that’d be awesome. Also see what’s good with Samir. He really should try to come down this year.
Does anyone know what’s good with the 3S fobs? We’d really like to put together a big group of players this go around. The US players are thinking of doing a 5 on 5 but want to be sure we’ll have a big enough pool of players to make it happen.
CvS2, ST, and AH2 are going to be played on the Sunday; CvS2 starts at noon and the others at 2 PM. I’m not going to join any of those but I know some people might. How is that expected to modify the driving schedule and hotel details? Leaving after the Sunday tournaments are finished means driving during the night, and I doubt anybody (especially the driver) wants to mess with their personal clock, which I assume is why a schedule like that was avoided in the original plans.
I don’t think it’s going to be a real issue. There are only a few of us that would enter CvS2/AH/ST to begin with. If they’ve only got 3 games running you have to figure they’ll get numerous setups (probably 4 or 5) and get through them relatively quick. If CvS2 is in the 50 player range like last year, it shouldn’t take more than six hours to get through and we’d be back home by midnight at the very latest.
Alex; yeah I can book all the rooms on my VISA again when we have a good idea of how many people are coming.
you should arrange with the GG crew instead, as justin suggested. We were eating that galleria on friday and it seriously seems like we can fit a van (if everybody actually goes like they said they would)
