I thought it best to start this thread early and see what kind of interest there is. I’ll be attending EVO World 100% this year as it falls right into my Vegas vacation plans (I’m off from July 10th - July 20th). In case people weren’t aware of EVO information:
DATE:
Friday July 17th - Sunday July 19th
PLACE:
The Rio Hotel & Casino
GAMES:
Street Fighter 4
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Soul Calibur 4
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Guilty Gear XX, Accent Core
SF3, Third Strike, 2v2 team tournament
NOTES:
Mr. Wizard apparently is getting a group rate for SRK players. Personally I’m going to look into getting my own rate through friends in the travel industry and I’m willing to bet they can find something even cheaper.
I’d be going for the week as I want to see UFC 100 on the 11th. If you want to hit up Vegas for a week (and by hit up I mean have the money to do it) then find me via PM or MSN and we’ll work something out. I would assume that most people will be going from Friday - Monday or something along those lines if they’re only there for the tournament.
I’m not going to lie, this trip could be pricey depending on what you want to do while in Vegas. If you want to attend and you don’t have a ton of money right now, start to save. This is five months notice for you to put together the funds.
I’ll update this first post on a regular basis as new information comes in. Please post up if you’re interested in attending.
Mahir and I have already bought our round trip tickets from Edmonton for $455 after taxes. Staying at the Rio from the 15th to the 20th will cost us about $175 each. Throw in a few hundred dollars for food and entertainment and this will be the least expensive Evo I have ever attended.
Well, me and three others are probably going to attend Evo, but I don’t know if they’ll be staying as long as me. I’ll be staying from the 16th to the 21st as those were the cheapest tickets I can find, and I heard that you can pretty much check out Vegas in about 2-3 days anyways. So I haven’t booked any flights yet, or hotels, but was wondering if people were looking to just split rooms.
Yuhin; it’s actually a very moderately priced trip. For me to fly solo with my own room for 9 nights was just under $800. I’m sure if you’re paired up with someone it’s running $400 - $500 or so in flight/hotel. Your other costs will vary obviously.
really? i think i have the fund arelady for the trip, since i quit gambling and not planning on gambling. so 500 + random hundreds for food, entertaiment, and booze.
Nagata: There’s a very high chance I’m going this year since I’m going to be debt free starting April, and so I’ll have enough time to save up. You still accepting people for EVO?
I’m seriously considering it this year. Too bad there’s no cvs2.
edit: Nagata it seems that booking now you would get $50/night for 2 people weekday and 85/night weekend. $30 for extra 1-2 people. Seems pretty cheap no?
