TE2 Crossbone - Electrical mods made significantly easier for the Madcatz TE2

Looks like D- pad was torn off. The trace is run from the top side of the board which is the side you tore. Soldering to the bottom side won’t yield anything since it won’t be actually connected to the board’s signal line.

It can happen if you are aggressive with the iron and leave it on too long which will weaken it and the wire will pull it off. The wire is pretty small gauge, but it’s possible.

If it’s torn like that, the only way to salvage it is to scrape the trace and solder to that, or directly to the IC. I’m telling you right now that if you have pretty meh soldering skills, that soldering to the IC won’t go well… it’s really small and soldering to a single leg takes some chops. You’re almost better scraping the trace and going that route. The two traces running from that area up to the IC right above it? D- is the trace on the right hand side.

Yeah, I would not be able to do that. Like I said I have another board coming in I just wanted to know my options with this board. Thanks for all the help everyone.

So I’m getting ready to use a TE Crossbone for the first time so I can add an mkx PS4 pad and make it a xb+ps4/3 stick.
the PS4 version of the mkx pad activates the signals if the pad is not recognized by the system making it seem as though all buttons are held down while playing on xb1. To get around this, we’ve been using diodes on each signal (all 15 of em except USB).
Just to confirm, the diodes are still required when working with a TE crossbone?

Thanks

the diodes are necessary for any dual mod for the mkx pad
so yes

Only the PS pad though, right? Not the Xbox version…

Correct, he specified the ps4 version

First post…but enough experience with electronics due to my work…
But yes…this can be caused by a too hot soldering iron.

Or you need to regulate temp of the iron…or solder quicker so it doesn’t get too hot.
Else use a bit of flux to let it melt quicker…or use different solder tin…

Was a real pleasure to use one for the first time. Keep up the fantastic work @Phreakazoid !

Hey, just finished installing this on my TE2. It’s working fine with my PS3/360/XB1/PS4 but i cant seem to get it to work for PC like i used to when i was using my PS360+ on my old stick. It works intermittently and when it does most buttons ( Y, RB, LB, UP) don’t work at all. I’m running 1.66 on the PS360+, tried different ports on my PC, tried forcing to PS3 and 360 modes but nothing worked. It’s recognized fine if I plug the PS360+ directly to my PC with no crossbone. Am i missing something?

what is your switch button for ps360+ and which system is default?

Home/Guide is the switch button and the PS360+ is default

Move your switch button because home is boot loader mode on ps360+.
See if that helps.

I’m pretty sure bootloader mode on PS360+ is start, at least that’s what the Firmware Update guide on their site says and that’s the way i’ve always upgraded mine. Home is unassigned to any forced mode according to akishop’s documentation. Any oher suggestions? I have no idea why this would work everywhere except on my PC. It just says device not recognized when i plug it and “Unknown USB device (Device descriptor request failed)” on device manager.

yea mine does the same thing. works on everything but pc.

Oh. That is a problem with 64bit processors that the ps360+ has if i recall. Plug it in to your PC using a usb hub and it should work. That’s how it works on my PC anyway.

Actually the PS360+ works fine if i connect it on it’s own, I only get that problem when when i use it with the crossbone, weird.

shorten the length of your internal usb cable from ps360+ to crossbone

i swear this has been covered many times

Ive had this issue happen to me while dual modding with TE2crossbone/ps360+, using the JST harness. no matter how short it was (6 inches) I still had this issue.

still worked on the 360 or other consoles, worked on its own on the PC, just not the PC

Switching button was Guide.

Any way to fix it? Do you think I should just forget about the JST harness and just solder D+ and D- directly to the PS360+?

yea I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. ill try that thank you
