My arcade stick has started going unresponsive and getting stuck on lock or unlock with buttons working. When I pull the USB out of the port on my PS4 and out it back in it recognizes it. I will have to press the PS button and confirm. But as soon as an online match starts or even if I fix It and still get to play, it will freeze up and not work. I think it’s the USB but I’m trying to get the solution because I’m losing to people I normally wouldn’t and dont even want to play until this is taken care. C does anyone have a solution? Thanks
Continuity test the USB cable
How do I do that
You would need a multimeter which you probably don’t have. What sucks is that the TE2 uses a Pro Cable which are not easy to get. It’s not like a custom stick where you can just go out to the local electronics store and grab a USB B to A cable. It could also be the PCB. If it is the USB cable, you’ll have to order one from Ebay or @“Jasen Hicks” at jasenscustoms.com is offering a pro cable for the Panzer 3 Fightstick. It’s a complete set with the connector and everything but you can just use the cable out of it if you want. Good luck man.
Thanks
One more question, can you tell me exactly what a multimeter is and where to get one. And also the pcb. I’m trying to rule out all possibilities
I have my fight request on auto accept, so the fightstick will be working fine, but then I get the you have a fight on the way, right before the match actually starts the fightstick will go unresponsive, the unlock and lock button won’t work and I will have to pull out the USB from the ps4 as fast as I can, hit the PS button and then it will work until the next match. And sometimes it only works for almost the remainder of the match.
Having said all that, I have been playing with this stick for about a year, and only been playing 5 days a week for about 3 months and it has worked all that time. Now all of a sudden this comes up
So if someone can give me the scenarios or most likely possibilities of what could be causing the problem and what I need to fix it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks Again
This is a multimeter: https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-MSR-R500-Multimeter-Electronic-Continuity/dp/B01N9QW620/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1500992263&sr=8-3&keywords=multimeter
Use it to do a continuity test on the madcatz cable. Use this diagram: https://www.tortita.net/storage/Madcatz TE2 USB.png <-- copy that whole thing up to the .png
You’ll need to do each pin on each side to test the continuity. Data, grnd, all that you see in the diagram on each side. Google " How to do a continuity test on a digital multimeter" for instructions on that.
The PCB is more complicated as it may require soldering to use the cheapest option. A brook PS3/PS4 board. Search the forums here for info on PCBs.
Thanks, what is the purpose of the ez mod, is its sole purpose for replacing broken original pcb’s?
Great info by the way, i really would be Fu@$ed with out this site and the people on it.
The EZ Mod makes it easy to upgrade your TE2 to a Brook UFB. It was created by @“Jasen Hicks” at jasenscustoms.com but is sold at arcadeshock.com. Basically the EZ mod PCB replaces the TE2 board. It’s made almost exactly like it. It sits in the same spot except without the housing on top. It’s a dumb board that just passes signals through to the appropriate components. It’s connected to the Brook Universal Fighting Board (UFB) by a few cables. I would recommend this setup if you can afford it. The Brook board is a great PCB and very fast. Also your stick will be compatible with every major system out there, including the Switch.
It’s not quite “dumb” there are a lot of non-action button and lever inputs that have to be processed to get the right outputs for LEDs, DP/LS/RS mode, etc. Only the basic inputs aren’t processed.
@“Jasen Hicks” I work in IT and a switch is considered a “dumb” device compared to a router, even though it has to process the right connections to the right port, IPs, etc. I was using the same terminology in comparison to the actual TE2 PCB or a Brook UFB. No offense meant to the EZ Mod.
Well I appreciate all the info. I finally got it, watched the videos and will be ordering today or tomorrow. I was worried about this before I bought this fight stick. Spent 225 on it now going to spend another 130… I could’ve bought the qwanba dragon. Not including the little bit of money I spent on buttons, a 2lb spring and some other accessories. But I will stick with this and continue to polish my skills…
Again, I appreciate the help
In the end, you will be happier when your TE2+ performs better than the Dragon and works on PS3, PS4, 360, Xbox One, Wii U, Switch, and PC.
Sounds good
I’m sure this won’t be the last time you hear from me lol thanks again
Just a status update on my TE2+… My fightstick has stopped working completely. Before I could just switch the Console button to ps3 and then back to ps4 and it was like Ines plugging in it in for the first time. Now I cannot use it at all. I’ll being buying the mod in the next two weeks.
