Tatsunoko vs Capcom Thread V.2 - Dec 11th on Wii

I hope nobody is going to grump at me for wanting to play the golden giant and lost planet mecha. I’d hate to think those guys will get the same treatment that the poor nekos in Melty Blood do.

Speaking of which, did we notice that when you pick those two, you can’t choose a partner character? This also means there won’t be any cover attacks or assisted combos. I wonder if those characters will end up being low tier because of this?

If they are any type of decent, im sure we will see plenty of people hop on the train, to play those characters.

Well the only one I’ve seen in a real battle so far is Lightan, and from him we can tell a few things.

cons:
These characters can’t have a teammate. So that means no assist attacks and no way to prolong their life by switching out and recovering. They also can’t have their teammate appear for combined supers.

They’re huge targets and have super armour, meaning that certain specials and multi-hit attacks will deal a lot more damage to them than normal.

They are slow and many of their attacks will be telegraphed or very laggy (or both). There are probably many ways to exploit these characters too. They will probably be vulnerable to defensive playstyles. Also, the faster, lighter characters may be able to just stall them out. I saw a video where Ryu was jumping around and all of Lightan’s moves were just missing. Poor mobility as well (perhaps the Lost Planet Mecha will be faster than Lightan)

Pros:
They have great range and seemingly good power.

They seemingly have super armour to all attacks, seeminly cannot be knocked down and cannot be thrown except by other giant characters. That has to count for something.

hookup plz?

They can still block though, so even with multiple hits they could block them all.

Also, you’ll be surprised how fast their attacks are. Seen how G Lightan move? He can pull fast punches!

He may have the semi fast punches, but they seem to have a lot of lag after them, and being so big means that they have large blind spots too.

But I really wish we had more footage of the Lost Planet mech. That thing is probably going to be one of my mains.

I saw a battle between that thing and Lightan on youtube. It seemed that they were able to throw each other around with their attacks. I wonder if there will be other characters that can knock these giant characters down as well?

Oh yeah, and having super armour also means they’ll be able to hit people out of their super attacks. Like Megaman’s rapid machine gun shot. I bet Lightan could just stomp on him if he even tried to use that super.s

Dont worry. I called Lightan as my main long ago. But lets talk about what we know about these characters.

They actually have hyper armor, meaning they never ever go into hitstun. When they face eachother, however, they do go into hitstun like normal on every hit.

While their attacks do have a lot of recovery, so do other normal characters in TvC. Its a biproduct of the engine. Also, the giants cannot heal, so there is zero reason not to use Baroque to cancel out of whatever you were doing anytime in order to follow up or block. Both mechs have different weaknesses, though, and Im willing to be you will need to counter character each very differently. Lightan has command throws, so stalling him out is going to be terrifically risky. PTX looks like he would rather stay back and shoot at you anyway, so you probably want to be right on top of him as much as possible. Its like Mech Zangief and Gold War Machine. They can block, jump, airdash, etc. These guys are not going to be pushovers.

We HAVE seen Alex’s lv3 grab super work on Lightan, and the damage is retarded big. So, thats going to be a real problem for him. We dont know about other throws, command throws, or super throws just yet, but it will be interesting to see. I think Lightan would have real trouble getting in on Rockman, Saki, and wouldnt want to be in on Alex with 3 levels. PTX, im not sure about, but there is footage of him being played on youtube from the 5th location test.

It’s not Lightan, it’s PTX-40A.

And the only reason why Alex was able to grab the mecha was because it was a Level 3 super. All level 3 attacks ignore armor.

Oh gotcha, well, im sure it works on lightan too. I guess these bad boys will really need to worry about the opponent getting 3 levels and landing a super. Unles they have extra health, thats going to be about half life from most character’s attacks.

PTX’s normal chainsaw move rapes Lightan/another PTX

jesus christ

But is it punishable on block? If it is, he will have to go Baroque every time its blocked in order to avoid getting hurt.

^It’s slow, but Lightan can punish it since he can hit IVAN (shall we call the Vital Suit IVAN? PTX-40A seems too long).

And Lightan took only little damage on the level 3 super. I recall seeing him getting hit by Ken’s Kagaku Ninpou Hinotori and lived as if it was only a level 1 super in a loketest vid.

hmmm, they will be strong indeed. Ive been calling it “Ivan” or “PTX”

Why not just call it PTX?

I thought it was unsafe on block, but that he could supercancel into missle/machinegun super to make it safe

Ah true… PTX then.

Lightan is dangerous when up-close, whereas PTX is dangerous when ranged.

WHAT?!? As BIG as Gold Lightan is, Alex can catch him in his SUPER GRAB? Link please?!?

I had always planned to main Gold Lightan, and use my ‘real’ team as a 2ndary. We shall see how that works out for me. Im still undecided on who my real team will be, but I really like Daimao, Alex, Roll, and Polymar right now. I was hype for Joe, but seeing him in game not being able to slow mo made me lose a little interest.

another question. is air dash manual or command (3p)

ninja edit: i also noticed you cant dash under the big guys legs so if they get you to the corner theres gonna be a hard time getting out.

He does it to PTX.

You can hit all three attack buttons in air to air dash.
