Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the US

anybody at evo try the US TvC? any word on new characters?

No new characters were in the TvC builds at Evo.
I tried getting them from S-Kill…but he’s stone.

Any word on ps3 release?

I would prefer having Chun-Li and Karas in my team.

I’m pretty sure they’re saving it for Comic Con.

What I’m asking for is that what are the new tweaks in TvC US?

Last word was it’s so much effort to port it to 360/PS3 that it’s better spent on sequel than a port

Wrong.

Pretty much every character qualified for Evo at some point.

Then you have a lot of different teams that are very effective.

Roll/Casshern
Karas/Ryu
Karas/Chun
Polymar/Ippatsuman
Roll/Yatterman
Ken/Karas
Ken/Rock
Ken/Tekkaman
Tekkaman/Karas
Doronjo/Souki
Saki/Tekkaman
Joe/Jun
Chun/Jun
Joe/Polymar

etc. etc. etc.

Joe/Jun?

I’d like to see how that works.

Also, Roll/Yatterman is the best team. nojokes

Changes are found in this post.

Well generally Joe is great at zoning where Jun’s assist helps him (and his assist helps her to some extent by letting her control more on the field.

Also, Jun’s 236AB super can double hyper cancel into six cannon for very respectable damage off only 2 meter (and a super with a very fast startup.

He wasn’t any more disposable than any other character.

It’s disappointing that he’s gone, but if it’s for a worldwide (including Europe) release, it’s understandable. But how is he a stereotype at all? I’ve heard this before, but he’s just a cartoony genie. The only difference between him and Aladdin’s Genie is that Daimaoh has human-colored skin, really.

I wouldn’t be too surprised either, though, since Norimaro got cut for a pretty stupid reason (although that was Marvel’s fault).

^ And I thought I was the only one who liked Daimaou.

His playstyle is quite fun, IMO; so it’s kind of a shame he’s gone. I still have the JP version so I guess the loss won’t be too big - and neither will it be for everyone else due to the vocal dislike against him.

I have a feeling that (if there were rights issues), Capcom may not have cared as much about going through the trouble of securing him just because American fans hate him for whatever reason.

It makes me sound bitter to say this, but I think that if Karas had had bad rights issues, Capcom would have tried very hard to keep him in, which is pretty unfair.

Interesting you mentioned Karas, doesn’t Manga Entertainment holds the US license for the OVA/compiled movies (unless I am incorrect with that)?

its not that i hate Daimaou (or however its spelled:rofl:), I just don’t care about him. I like Karas more.

You’re correct. I think it’s one of the only series that is currently being distributed in America (since I’m pretty sure uncut Gatchaman is out of print).

Daimou is a fat, stupid, buck-toothed arab with massive gollywog lips. His character design isn’t exactly flattering wheras Alladin’s genie was just a bit more ‘politically correct’ in terms of design even if he was also a comedy character.

Though I might be overanalysing it. I can see how some people might be offended by him. Though it still strikes me as odd that they would release him in the japanese version but not here. Obviously it is liscensing issues that really kept him back.

Umm, the show has been dubbed into Arabic and nobody said a thing about him being offensive.

Still though, I would’ve thought that Karas would’ve had more trouble when it comes to licensing compared to Hakushon because of the whole deal with Manga Entertainment. Good that they got it worked out.

These changes shown in the Evo build mostly sound pretty encouraging, though the Karas nerfs were kinda expected.

Daimou, no one’s gonna miss him

If he was offensive, it probably wouldn’t have mattered in Japan because they aren’t quite as sensitive as America is, so that’s not necessarily true.

I don’t think it’s about missing him. It doesn’t matter to me whether he’s a good character or cool or not, the fact is that they cut a character, which is really the worst possible thing they could have done when bringing the game over here.

It’s pretty much like “Capcom is so awesome, they’re bringing TvC to America! …but they didn’t keep all the characters, and they’re removing the soundtrack.” It’s a buzzkill.
