The N64 was solid. But it missed out on a lot because Nintendo treated its third party developers and other companies producing games like shit. Not only because of their relations, but because of their business practices (such as using the expensive cartridge format as opposed to discs).
The GC fared a bit better and they tried to fix their mistakes with the other companies but they still could have done more. Again, because they wanted to (apparently) avoid piracy they used a smaller disc format.
There’s nothing wrong with being “different” but they’ve really shot themselves in the foot for trying so hard to be “unique”. The GC and N64 were both running circles around Sony’s consoles hardware-wise, they could have gotten all of those ports and actually had a chance of making stuff like Alpha 2 arcade perfect.
That info should be fair enough that we are officially getting a PAL version (since s-kill didn’t make a comment about it) and that they’re recoding stuff in it… probably the online thing.
I never said anything about N64 having a shit load of fighting games. Back when N64 was out, I wasn’t thinking about fgs, I was thinking about having fun with my other games. Nothing wrong with my opinion.
I seen it. Good to see Capcom is fixing dumb shit like that. They also need to fix the “." Now they need to fix some combos that don’t work depending on the screen size.
Casey Kasem for Ken the Eagle, please. (I’m sure some of you might get that one)
Could totally see it happen, though. We’d finally hear Alex speaking in sensible english again. Would also be nice if we get a voice select per character option like in SFIV, too.
It doesn’t, but if thats one of your favorite genres and a system like the N64 is completely missing out on it, then that really sucks for you.
You might say, “well just get a second system then”. Which i agree, except i say skip the piece of shit in a plastic box to begin with, and go straight to a Sega Saturn or PSOne.
Unfortunately Nintendo losing its balls in the console race was a pretty recent occurrence when N64 hit, so word had not gotten around yet what a sad shell of a company it had turned into. Sadly i was one who bought a N64 near launch time, expecting a console like the SNES with a wide variety of great titles in every genre like FIGHTERS, only to realize 9 months or so later what a huge mistake it was when my N64 was collecting dust because few games arrived for it worth a damn.
Thus began Nintendo’s 14 year long era of total suck that continues to this day…
I was watching some videos on Youtube and noticed the arcade version uses the same cabinet as the one for SF4, so TvsC runs in HD (720 I guess) in its arcade version? If that’s the case its quite a bummer that we are going to be limited to 480p on the Wii, but whatever I should be thankful the game is actually being released around here, first day purchase for me.
Actually Tatsunoko VS Capcom does not run on the Taito Type X2.
It’s actually running on Wii-based Arcade Hardware, which makes the Wii the most suitable Arcade perfect port for a conversion to a console, just as any Naomi Arcade game had made the best port to the Dreamcast because the Dreamcast was pretty much using the same hardware as the Naomi basically.
Here is some pictures of the actual Arcade board that TvC runs on compared to the Wii motherboard, basically everything being the same except some changes.
This website is out of date somewhat but other information on this Wii Arcade unit is scarce at best since TvC was the only game I know that actually utilizes it.
If there was an actual name of the board itself, I’d like to know what other specifications in terms of differences it has over the Wii console hardware. This would provide even better information if the Arcade version has advantages whatnot over the console port, or it’s pretty much a 1:1 ratio conversion meaning Arcade Perfect.
Oh I see, I guess I just saw the type of monitor on the cabinet and since it looked like the one from SF4 I asumed it was running TvC at 720p, the quality of the video was quite bad so it was imposible to tell really.
Seriously? I gotta get in on that shit dude…
On a side note, do PS2 arcade sticks work on the PS3? Because I have a stick for my 360, but not my PS3. I figure if a PS2 stick will work, then I can kill two birds with one stone and have a stick that’ll work on my Wii and PS3 (So I can comfortably play TvC and HD Remix, respectively).
Hah, I got negged for providing information on the Arcade port because of my post being so long. It’s not my fault your head explodes after a paragraph of text. If my post was such a bother to you, you could have simply ignored it and moved on, but obviously you had to care to neg me, which makes your actions are hypocritical and contrary to this.
The simple fact you didn’t even leave your name with that comment shows you don’t even have the balls to speak for yourself. I honestly don’t give a crap about rep. If people got something to say to me, then say it without being a coward about it, If you want to hide behind premium status thinking your eCock is bigger and what not shows you didn’t have anything worthwhile to say anyway.
