Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the US

I forget the link, but Nintendo actually came out and said that the console was aimed at the casual crowd.

Now that’s straight from the horse’s mouth, but looking at its library, gimmicks and hardware should pretty much already tell you that. I’m not taking sides here, just saying that wii audience as a while is pretty obvious; a few fighting games one may like does not change that.

Yeah, I heard that as well in 1 of my old EGM magazines.

Too bad they can’t port this game to PS3 and Xbox 360. But at least the Wii crowd will have a reason to dust off their Wiis.

I really don’t see how this strengthens the argument. You’re just pointing out that there is some dumb shit on the system which, obviously, is true, while I’m pointing out solid shit that’s on the system, which is also true. If they want to sell more to casual folks, let them, I’m still gonna use it for fighting games as long as there’s some I want to play and good options as far as sticks go.

There isn’t really an argument.

All that has been said is that the console is made and marketed primarily to the casual crowd.

No-one is saying you shouldn’t use it for TvC, or GGXX or whatever. I simply brought it up because you thought a handful of fighters ported to the system suddenly means the system’s core audience has changed.

No specs, posts like this are fucking retarded. We already know TvC is a Wii game. They can fucking get over it or leave the thread. It isn’t like this game was just announced where any console is a possibility.

So on that note, to the “previous posters” still going on about it… ^^^^^^

Shut up or get out of the damn thread. kthx. I’ll continue to be excited for this.

By checking ********, Tatsunoko has been downloaded about 55000 times across all torrents with it on that site. By comparison, 2002 UM was downloaded about 11000 times across all torrents at the same site.

I know this does not translate into sales, but… There’s clearly an interest in the game from non-japanese. I think it will sell decently, especially since the exlusivity to Japan has made it a quite hyped-up legendary Wii game in some media outlets imo.

By all means…find this link and present it please. Has it really gone unnoticed that Nintendo has never really been casual so much as they’re trying to cater to everyone? And apparently you haven’t been paying any attention to the Wii’s lineup this year at all but I suppose you shouldn’t be at fault for that since you don’t have any interest in the system probably.

i just hope Capcom of U.S and Tatsunoko work something out and do their best to keep ALL the characters intact. Thats all im hoping for. If not, im not even gonna bother buying a wii. (not to mention im broke right now, so it will have to wait anyways).

I’m pretty sure they are, as the scan mentions everyone but Daimaoh.

Please, show this link if you can find it. Everything I’ve seen from Nintendo talks about combating disinterest and getting non and former gamers playing along with the “core” gamers, but they don’t use the term “casual”. That’s what everyone else says Nintendo is doing.

As for the game, I’m looking forward to it. It just might convince my associates to pick up the genre for more than ten minutes.

Where do they mention Ippatsuman? I must have missed that.

The old link I was reading about two months ago seems to be either dead or way back in the archives, but I did find this: http://images.encyclopediadramatica.com/images/0/05/Casualgamewii.jpg

And no, I haven’t really kept up on most of the titles being released for the Wii as of late, so maybe there is a shift occurring.

Its more subtle than the other one I was reading, but the message (and one of the key quotes) is there.

They don’t really have to use the term “casual”; its obvious most of the shift has been to people that either don’t play games or don’t play games as often, and this goes for a lot of games that are coming out these days, not just the Wii. But I don’t see the problem - so what if Nintendo doesn’t really look to appeal to “hardcore” gamers anymore; if you want to use the console for fighters and feel justified for doing so, then it shouldn’t matter who the core audience is, just play your games.

That’s what I’ve been doing, I’m just tired of people who don’t remember the NES talking about Nintendo’s “change of focus”. It was old two years ago.

If the US release ends up being more balanced and having extra features,
but they sacrifice Ippatsuman… I will cry.
I love my Ippatsuman/Casshern team.

Daimaou idgaf about, you can’t even combo into his launcher afaik;
he’s the one character I’ve never touched aside from beating arcade mode w/him.

Looks like they’re taking out some nasty stuff

Eh no surprise there. Just maintaining the status quo of nintendo suckitude for the last 14 years, since the N64(AKA- the piece of shit in a plastic box).

Please…capcom, port your game to a REAL game system. Don’t let it rot on the Wii where most of this “broader/diverse audience” of wii owners won’t appreciate it.

N64 wasn’t shit. I loved my N64!!:annoy:

Wut?

While not necessarily the best system, GameCube actually had games as opposed to the Wii.

N64 sucked, easily the worst gaming buy i’ve ever made.

Among its many, many flaws, for one it was worst system to have back then for a fighting game fan. Smash Bros was the only really GOOD fighter it had.

Even though the PSOne had a tough time with 2D fighters, at least it TRIED(actually had quite a few NICE ports). N64 while theoretically being able to handle games like SF Alpha 3 well, especially after its ram upgrade, yeah they just didn’t bother…

Still only slightly better than the N64. Just this time it was a cube shaped plastic box with crap inside.

Edit: actually the Cube hardware was pretty nice, mainly it was nintendo’s retarded decision to use the “cute” mini-DVD format, and just overall lack of game selection worth a damn.

Sure once in a blue moon it might get 1 title like Resident Evil 4, but the vast majority of the time the cube was collecting dust.
