You were trying to zone akuma. I dont think thats a strong strategy with taskmaster. You cant really lock him down due to hurricane kicks and his fireballs recover faster than your arrows. I just dont see that being a strong way of fighting akuma. You should be attacking more vs him.
You didnt punish his careless calling of phoenix, or sentinel. Should have been punishing those with arrow super more than you did.
Use sheild skills more (B+H) Move is a godly anti air MIghty swing is pretty good too. Use that(Yes they can punish it if done carelessly but be smart about it)
Taskmaster is good vs sent. s.M, sheild skills AA, arrow zoning very good vs sentinel
Use up arrows alot more than you do.
Thats all ive got but hopefully that helps you some.
I noticed this recently while messing around: is this known already? Am I late to the party? Am I missing something? Short version is that on certain characters, jumping legion arrow straight down can OTG into an airborne state where you can DHC into a non-OTG move.
I always knew it could OTG but I never knew DHC’ing didn’t work on some characters. I even went into training mode to see if tiger kneeing it made a difference but it didn’t, that’s weird.
I also noticed this randomly happening but I didn’t notice it was certain characters that are subject to it. Nice observation.
When I was testing it, it seemed like when I did TM super higher in the air i had a higher success rate of getting that DHC to connect. I don’t recall which characters I was testing against so it could have just been a random case of it being the right character, but it may be worth looking more into.
I had an inkling about being higher up, but I can’t confirm or deny it. Its also not 100% it seems, or at least I can’t get it to be; it may just be real timing specific.
if you do a super from super jump height with the right timing you can dhc into anything, ijust tested it with dhcing into ammy and it worked on shehulk, tron, haggar, ammy, wolvie, and sent so its probably universal
The reason it’s easier from the top of the screen is that a scattered few arrows will still be in the air once you DHC. The closer you are to the ground, the less likely this is to happen. As long as there is a hitbox right above the corpse when an arrow otg’s them, the second super should connect. There’s no obscure property involved, it’s just that air vertical Legion arrow barely pops them up, so the moment after they get hit by an arrow, they fall right back down to the ground.
To see how this works even more easily, just set the dummy to jump straight up and hit them with the Parabolic Legion Arrow ( +:h: ) from the ground and DHC while some of the arrows haven’t quite finished their descent. You should have 0 problems DHC into most supers in the game since the last few arrows will be hitting as the second super crosses over their body.
I watched a bit of it, stop tacing to finish your combos. You can honestly just kill most chars by finishing your task combos, and if not just dhc since you built all that meter. Also, dont post vids where the character your needing help on appears for 15 seconds and just does a bnb. Can’t really extrapolate anything from it.
my best advice for is to finish your damn combos. It’s cool if you don’t want to do duck strongs or the new bnb if you’re inconsistent with it, but you shouldn’t be dropping the standard bnb. Only attempt the tac fancy cool kooky krazy combos if you’re consistent with them, its much better to just finish the combo then to drop it for any reason. Task builds too much meter for you to not just kill the char in most circumstances.
Judging from the video, your combo execution needs a lot of improvement. Whether offline or online, combo execution consistency is critical in MvC3. Keep practicing all your combos until you can get down 95% of the time. If you do a combo you feel won’t complete during a match, work on finding points where you can Hyper and thus ‘end’ the combo.
Another thing I’ve noticed is you need to be more careful against Assists. I’ve seen you get tagged by Tron and Hidden Missiles a few times. Task has moderate to slow attack speed, which leaves him open to attack and assists should he whiff or get nailed by a special move. Get a handle of the opponents Assist’s, then focus on working ways around them (i.e., baiting Tron assist, dash back, then Legion Arrow. Or throwing the opponent before Tron Assist pops out, etc. etc.).
My last advice is to work on your close range pressure with Task. You have a good handle on his zoning, but you have a tendency to back yourself to the corner. Task has a harder time when he’s cornered by aggressive characters, so pressuring (i.e., attack even when they block) the opponent reduces the likelihood of being cornered.
