I can guarantee on American connections even a consistent 2frames lag is considered “perfect”. It can vary all the way to 15f of lag with how bad the netcode gets. It is really the case here, it is not preference. It’s nothing personal, but that’s definitely the reality; everyone I play in tournaments who plays online and offline drops important combos or misses timings.
Then those people didn’t prepare for the tournament properly. If you are expecting an event you need to be in the training room re-evaluating your timing and polishing your offline combos. This discussion is irrelevant to this thread though, so we should drop it. Regardless of how you look at it, you can adjust between online and offline play if you put in enough time to do so. If you just don’t enjoy online or have a bad internet connection then don’t even worry about it.
Pretty solid play. I like that your Taskmaster play is reserved and you don’t wast Hypers. Only advice I have (and this is after watching only two videos of course) is work on your Taskmaster BnB (he has much longer ones incorporating mighty swing) and use his wavedash to maneuver.
Yeah, I don’t wave dash too much againt certain characters becasue most opponents are unpredictable and just random out moves, so in that case I choose to kite my opponents by Super Jumping. I know he has long combos but being online it’s hard to get that hit after mighty swing online but I can do it no problem off line.
The reserved playstyle is primarily to try to build up to two or more levels of hyper so I can switch to Hsien Ko Armor via DHC. I don’t agree with putting her first because she can get blown up easier so I prefer to do my work with Task then DHC to Hsien Ko and either switch back to Tasky or Hard Tag or DHC to Shuma (Who is also hard to combo with online).
The videos are just place holders I plan to make a ton more hopefully higher quality.
The only thing I can really say is your movement is really stiff. Just watching, I never had to worry about where you were going to be, despite Taskmaster having some of the strongest dashing and mobile normals; maybe you could add some wavedashing, and some quick dash pokes (IE dash2M or dash6H, or dash 4H if you really know they committed). making people afraid to approach improves zoning tenfold.
Also, I’d recommend taking the light hits out of your BnB, it cripples the damage for no reason.
To further that point, with a more efficient BnB, you would build enough to have 2 bars and almost a third by the end of a single hit, and simultaneously give yourself room to DHC to hsien ko AND tag out to shuma, if done right. (Example, 2M H 6H jMM6HMMS 4HS sjc jH6HMHS land jump j236H land 4HS 2369M+H DHC, tag)
Doesn’t look too bad at all though, I appreciate that you actually are playing a neutral game with a goal in mind. Keep it up ^_^b
Dacid, why are you putting all those Ms in that combo? D:
2M, 2H, 6H, jMH land, 5M, 5H, 6H, jMH land, 5M, 5H, 4H, S /-, jH6HMHS land, jump 236H land 4H, S /-\ S 236H xx 236MH DHC, tag?
Lol yes i do lol… but you heard him he “wont play online” cant beat that level of shit…
anyway back to the topic…
I will post a batch of new vids of taskmaster of some tournament we had here…
Theres this “new” guy that uses task, modok and arthur… pretty sick stuff… way more annoying that hidden missiles…
Winners and losers finals at Starbase, feedback appreciated.
Personal notes to avoid being redundant:
Too many risks taken against FChamp that were unnecessary, I was still playing like he had phoenix. Very bad choice. Got grabbed for a lot of mighty swings for no reason, some-times for a called out vague-grab set up. Was outplayed, certainly.
Against Falcomist, I didn’t use the straight counter because my friend runs wolverine/Akuma instead of Wolverine/Haggar. If I had used the fact that Wolverine will almost always connect first on cross ups, and also countered the divekick, I would have won. Outplayed here, but that’s a really bad mistake that definitely cost me the match.
I don’t know how attached you are to Tron, but Haggar counterpicks her assist pretty hard, to the point that she doesn’t really seem worth having on the team anymore against him.
I respect the strategy a lot but Tron was a liability to you in those matches. You definitely did press too many buttons those games but I feel like Tron wasn’t helping your cause. I guess when you play a team like you do (which is a very strong, well put together team) you have to be 100% on your A game with Task and Dante to compensate for the liability of Tron. Just my personal opinion. I don’t think you need to drop her but in the situations you were in maybe character select was your best option.
Thanks guys, I agree and I’ll consider that. Any suggestions concerning Taskmaster specifically?
Have you incorporated the two meter 1mil combo into your game yet?
What moves do you use to anti-air? (this is for me and for you lol)
No I have not, and will not until I can test it’s reliability on all characters (which isn’t soon, I won’t have training mode for days)
I use shield skills backed by tron if blocked, most commonly. I think Chrisis recommended standingM for divekicks, which is something I hadn’t looked into, but now will.
Hm. Does st.M swing up? I hadn’t noticed. Good info.
From what I understand it does work on all characters but I personally also do not have access to training.
Stand M pretty much has shieldskills’ hit box except it doesn’t move his hurtbox forward, on Sunday/Saturday I was experimenting with it and the thing needs to be used more the range it hits at lets Task stay really safe while poking.
Good to know. Thanks.
Okay I lost to the same players, but I lost by less to both this time. I’ll post the videos and request followup advices when they hit youtube.
I proved the techniques I said work! At least in the rare circumstances where Viper was brought off point. I need to give Wolverine more respect, I didn’t burn stuff to kill him like twice and although it worked out this time that’s just a bad decision. >.< I don’t think my Task had to go on point against anything but his Haggar and Task v Haggar is just so hard for the mayor.
Hey guys, i don’t post vids much but here are some of a set I played on our Option-select.com stream last week Thursday, i think, against Timothy/Hagneto. If u have ever watched the stream before u should get the Hagneto reference.
