With the news of a patch update, I don’t see him getting worse… But we’ll see
In case you guys didn’t see it on the front page.
FT10 set I had with Neokarsh at TFC. Not only Task mirrors but 2 different styles. Hope you guys enjoy!
I made this a while ago, but I forget if I posted it anywhere. If I accidentally put it here already, sorry, I forgot, but if I haven’t, enjoy! I like this team.
I’m only a minute and a half in but this is some sick stuff, man. I have an odd feeling you might be able to do 1 horizontal arrow after the first shield skills when you use Strange for the extension. Have ya tried it?
I can actually use a light Sword Master between the two skills’es, but it’s kinda inconsistent on regular-sized hitboxes (works excellent of weird floaty people like Tron or Modok, though), so I didn’t include it until the end of the video, it’s good for damage, though. Also, I’m truly awful at shield-skills into 3 arrows into another shield-skills, but let’s just keep that our secret (he says to the whole subforum). So I never got around to trying arrows at all.
So…no, I hadn’t tried an arrow there.
haha woo that unblockable on vergil is nasty.
the composition of that team scares the heck outta me though since it’s task + 2 dudes i pretty much absolutely cannot play
For me it’s Task, a guy I’ve previously played only for yolo XF3 pillars, and a dude I pretty much absolutely cannot play. I like the team too much, though, I’ll try to stick with it.
Try it, man. Looking at the amount of hitstun Bolts has, i’m pretty sure you can do 1 arrow. PLUS I would like to say (not im not certain about it) that 1 arrow has less recovery than shield skills so it might make it even easier to get the 2nd shield
Also, a video someone sent me on youtube. Peep that shoutout tho
=(
were you just nervous or were those combos you were doing your standard? because you could’ve killed in a lot of situations where you got the hit.
i’m sure you already know but don’t challenge wolverine face to face at the start of the match. get to roughly st.m distance so you can call assist to countercall doom asap and press st.m to blow up any approach he tries. maybe cancel into super if you see the assist coming.
also when poking against wolverine use st.m alot- it sounds stupid because you think he’s gonna jump and divekick but it’s coverage, length and active frames make it a fantastic poke since it’s much more likely to stuff things they run into and less likely to get whiff punished. it’s not meant to mix him up, but rather to catch him in the act of doing things- as long as it doesn’t flat out whiff you’re in a better situation than you were a second ago when he was in your face priming to do whatever he wants. even if it does whiff it’s better than whiffing cr.m or cr.l
also also don’t jump from fullscreen like that seriously don’t jump against superfast ground based characters (the only super relevant one is wolverine, also spencer if they’re solid type and not nutty type) you are leaving yourself wide open to dash-in stuff no matter the distance. stay confident in your grounded game- if you’re calling the assist to beat out his assist then you don’t need to jump to avoid it because you’re committing to giving up space and letting him go in/get under you. if he jumps you have time to react accordingly.
besides that i can’t say much more i kinda just skipped to parts where task was alive
As long as you have an assist that makes SS safe why wouldn’t you challenge Wolverine at the start of the round? Other than Hulk you’re basically the only character that beats him at the start. Doesn’t orbital grudge make it safe?
Edit–Never mind I see that he’s using tenderizer so he doesn’t have that option.
shield charge and any assist that’s not haggar will lose to wolverine upbacking + divekicking at the start of the round. if they chickenblock the shield charge get ready to die for your troubles or worse get birthdayed because his jab is 4f for some dumb reason. that’s a rarer scenario though because just upbacking + divekicking will disjoint wolverine’s hurtbox enough to avoid the charge and kick you and your assist in the face the majority of the time.
from everything i’ve experienced chestbumping into shield charge is a recipe for suicide if they’re not morons or new to the matchup. also teching the throw vs him is a fucking terrible idea too because of that 4f jab so if you try to go for another throw or do a cr.l trap you’re going to die for it- jumping out of the tech also leads to bad spots for ya depending on if they read it or not. it’s not a favorable position to be in general - the odds are against you
if you space yourself properly none of his options will work so why would you bother with putting yourself in a risky position that could lead to getting birthdayed or worse
edit: in general shield charge + akuma or whatever the hell is a really good opener but being predictable about it basically is asking to die vs anyone familiar with the taskmaster matchup bc that shit is still really really whiff punishable and easily spaced against by the top characters at the opening
I usually just dash back on the start of the match most times on Wolvy, usually into a fast cr.L or shield skills+quick work/jam session. Works for me usually, but I don’t play many wolvys offline, so take that with a grain of salt.
Also, my thoughts. No real big playstyle critique, I’m not crazy familiar with Task and triple arrow, just decided to pick it up myself. You hawkeye was good, btw, I stole a few things (my newbish hawk needs the help). Just a few nitpicky things.
Just a thing, I noticed you went at about 1:26 for fH into down arrows and tried to catch his wakeup with cr.L the first time you got hit by Wolvy. Against someone with that nice an air throw option select, I really don’t like mid-air swings when close up. At situations like that, I’d have tried a backH for the throw/normal, then after landing dashed up st.M into assists to continue pressure/confirm. Since his doom was on recharge there was very little he could do about that.
At 1:50, you dashbacked into shield+tenderizer on his wakeup. Does that work? He’s short and on the ground, so I’d think he could advancing guard any attempts you’d make to unblockable, or just outright duck it. For that kinda wakeup, I’d try maybe a st.M to stop him from jumping (hits max range faster) and maybe call hawkeye then either swing in or arrows while he’s in hawk’s blockstun. Or just back off and get him to safety (I actually think zoning wolvy is a viable option), shame you don’t have a DHC out for Tasky, diagonal arrows airborne is a free escape for a lot of Task teams.
By the way, second match your Tasky looked great, smart movement, kept himself safe really nicely. And then Vergil happened…
I’ll have more comments if I come up with them later. Hope anything of that helped.
Just to make sure I’m understanding (I definitely need to know this lol) you’re saying that if he upbacks, blocks, and then quickly dive kicks he will be able to whiff punish SS+ assist at the start of the round?
he doesn’t need to block because the divekick will disjoint his hurtbox enough to just hit you if he does sj upback
I’ve came up with this OS for Task, wht do you guys think?
i busted out a rusty task at tx showdown, i figured i might as well post it for whatever sake- i think i did pretty alright with him vs pr rog, but had some pretty major fuckups too (that last match, i hit vergil with meaty h arrow and didn’t confirm oh my goddd)
