task + distruptor is pretty much task with hawkeye arrows but better.
applying the jump 2 l arrows + distruptor advancing and retreating is a pretty disgustingly hard to deal with thing, and that assist lets you convert off throws into monster damage so it’s pretty good on that regard too.
it doesn’t scale too much so when doing combo enders with it if you can get the really tight timing down on swing + arrow + distruptor into st.h, shield charge you can get st.h, charge, 3x l arrows into charge sting with it, but getting that st.h to connect is kinda painful.
the only thing i really know with task/jam is that you can do really dicey mixups with call jam SJ down arrows and then abusing the pushback for a crossunder mixup. also that you can convert throws with it, though the scaling is so terrible that it feels almost pointless.
it makes him impossible to get in on and can be used as an offensive tool because it forces crouching or standing state if they upback since they’ll stand into it before jumping.
it’s amazing to just throw out there too in general as a trap and because of dash shield charge he can convert off of it into a full combo from everywhere. plus it lets him convert off throws and unblockables and whatnot
I’m actually finding I prefer Task and triple arrow to Task/Ruptor. Fullscreen it gives me a bit more time after kara L arrow to shoot more arrows or go in, and the DHC into Kiss of Fire goes straight into Hawk/Vertical Arrows zoning which is so frikkin’ good.
I’m week 1 on a new Deadpool team, Deadpool (quick work)/Task (vertical arrows)/Hawkeye (triple arrow), and I’m really quite surprised at how much I get done with Taskington and those two assists. Gives both front characters a lot of zoning and rushdown options without ever leaving itself monstrously unsafe. The original reason is Deadpool gets a lot more stuff from Triple Arrow than he does from disruptor, but that’s for another character forum.
On that note, question,
1.) Does anyone have fun zoning/confirms with Task/Triple Arrow that’s not a slightly modified disruptor setup?
and 2.) For the people here who do the pickup with arrows into Shield L Arrows Shield Sharp Sting, I can get the timing 30% in training mode, is there a specific way to time the assist call and everything, or is it more of a “do it until it works” thing?
wolverine ducks peakaboo so it’s not really a great anti-wolverine assist if they’re not just an idiot who divekicks nonstop
also
for #2 the timing i use is just press assist button, swing+ h arrow, backdash shield charge arrows charge sting. it’s just a matter of getting the backdash spacing right or delaying the l arrows for the ultra floaty chars.
Do you think tatsu assist works with Trish? Still theorycrafting and thinking of trying new teams, within the Task/Akuma shell anyways. Thinking Task/Trish/Akuma. A trap assist seems good for resets after hits with the Akuma assist for instance, and Trish seems like a good DHC as well. Just not sure if the overall team is strong and if Trish has any BS with Tatsu.
it probably does? i was thinkin’ of using tatsu assist but like idk how many tricks it’s really got with trish besides instant overhead. theory-wise i think frank is probably better if you’re more confident in lvl4 frank but akuma is better if you’re confident in trish and akuma
I’ve really been considering picking Task back up to run Task/Mags/Akuma. Mags is my main character but I need a way to deal with Wolverine teams. Task is one of his worst match ups. Apparently disruptor is great for Task and he gets TAC infinites from Mags. And you don’t see it much anymore but Tatsu is one of Magneto’s best assists. YouTube a GA player named Sami to see. Maybe you should try the team out. Mags definitely ups the execution bar of the team though.
oh also tbh i wouldn’t be too keen on doing resets with peakaboo instead of just killing them with some unblockable gimmick they gotta burn xf to get out of or just a good combo. doing arrow super to round harvest and then akuma + l swordmaster + headbutt should work for getting you enough blockstun
trish has one of the most damaging max scaling supers in the game and tac infinites so it’s not too strange of a prospect to kill after almost everything. just gotta figure out a way to wring damage outta akuma assist beforehand.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. God I’m so sick of everyone telling me to switch doom to missiles just because of the 80k’s. Like whats the point of doing 1.2 mill if you can never get a hit? I’m sorry just had to get that off my chest.
On to why I actually came here, what’s the general opinion on task/plasma beam? Just curious, task isn’t a very popular character anymore so I haven’t seen too many people rocking this combination.
I play it. It’s one of my 2ndary teams. I love it. It allows Taskmaster to be a lot scarier. Stuff like swing + beam xx 1 arrow are really powerful. PLUS, when you go for a combo and you end it with 3 down arrows + Doom beam into diagonal super, the beam pops them up a bit allowing you to land first and making the TK link sooo free. Doom also allows for pick ups off of raw Sting Master too
If you get crossed up in the corner and launch back to midscreen or get a sting master or something mid screen, you can dash + beam assist > swing > 1 otg arrow > shield skills > sharp sting. It’s basically a full screen otg pickup with Doom beam.
Super counter yeah, not sure normal counters. I use Akuma tatsu assist for throw converts and always use Doom (if I am even playing him) for another extension at the end for a bit of damage and to set up hard knock down, so not sure on the throw part. I assume it would though.
So After much internal debate (and after my public loss at EVO 2013) I created a second team… arguably “more powerful” than my original Task-Dorm-Akuma.
Its Task - Vergil - Frank W.
It lets me retain the Shield skills pressure thanks to Franks shopping cart assist (and I also retain almost all my hit confirms from the Task-Akuma combination) and lets me play a decent keep away (with Task on point) with Vergils assist (the swords one…) because of the insane push off that inflicts on blocking opponents (it literally gives you a full screen, if they block).
The main idea behind that team is to gain Level 5 frank west as fast as possible, and win the game using him, if that plan fails, you still get (because of the way the DHCs rearrange your team order) Xfactor level 3 vergil (or level 2 if there is a snapback from the opponent or another dhc) which is the best character in the game for a comeback.
Worst case scenario, you get to play Frank as your last character with no levels and no xfactor.
I feel cheap for playing Vergil, but Damn I have been winning a lot more.
Its important to note that I now have a “real game plan” in comparison with my other team (lets call team A = Task Dorm Akume and team B = Task, Vergil, Frank)
Team B has a clear goal, and a back up plan if you cant make it (level 5 frank or xfactor vergil comeback).
Team A relies on the idea of Task dominating the whole match as a close range fighter and changing places with Dorm depending on the opponent, I have no insane anchor (Akuma with no health its not cool) but has great keep away and mobility thanks to Dorm (although not a real keep away since I don’t have a very supportive assist to help me keep somebody away, not like doom missiles).
So what do you guys think?
Im still searching for a way to be able to keep using my Dorm and Task in the same team, but using Task on point and dorm as the third character… But I feel that Task needs a better assist than Dark Hole -_- any help will be appreciated…
I played Task/Dorm/Akuma for quite awhile and changed switching out Akuma for Doom missiles becuase it provides Dorm with his best assist, and is also a good assist for Task. Dorm with tatsu is just too limited to play a proper Dorm game as it doesn’t give him enough time to setup his keepaway, doesn’t allow him to do full screen teleport mixups like a good projectile assist can, doesn’t push back the opponent full screen like rapid slash can etc. I like the new team you have and definitely would like to see what you come up with. I actually am playing Wolvie now to make my team a lil more cheap/derp and am playing Wolvie/Dorm/Plasma Beam, have you thought about dropping Task? Wolvie/Vergil/Frank seems like an even cheaper version of your new team.
i think the task vergil frank team is amazing and the best choice for task/frank based teams
also the task/dorm teams of choice are task/dorm/doom or task/dorm/mags- it depends on your playsyle. since you already have the frank west team for rushdown-oriented matchups, i’d use doom since in keepaway oriented matchups like zero and really good mags players it’s basically the only reliable way to fight them. dorm mags is still good in that scenario too and a more rounded team but more susceptible to those teams that the frank one would be weak to since it still doesn’t have an assist that really lets you go nuts with keepaway stuff.
I was gonna say, Task/Dorm I’ve toyed around with a bit, Plasma, Missiles, or Disruptor. Those are the best. Hawkeye’s pretty good too, so’s Arthur daggers, but he’s Arthur. Problem is Dorm gives a great assist, but it’s redundant when you are rocking Tatsu. But with fullscreen coverage and Hole for up-close shield skills pressure (into an arrow for best results, sometimes M arrow depending on the scenario but mostly L arrow), it’s really good, and the DHC/TAC is reason enough that Dorm is not dead weight. Dorm also gets some pretty solid keepaway sequences with Task’s horizontal arrows, it’s no bolts, jam, or missiles, but still good.
I like Task/Vergil/Frank, I’m not sold on rapid slash, and it sounds like Task is best suited going in often on that team, but your old team was geared towards close range also, and Vergil/Frank is awesome. Task/anyone DMC/Frank is just a great team setup, level 4-5 from every hit.
