Crap! I’ve been doing this combo for a good month now.My friend recorded me doing it about 2 weeks ago but I forgot to upload it.
But yeah, thats the best damage tasky can get off of a random shield skills on a GROUNDED opponent. If the shield skill hits anti air, the relaunch part wont work.
Oh I think we’ve known it works from random charging star for two months now. But that’s not terribly important, like, that comes up so rarely. Way more important is studying how you can do it in a combo, what the properties are from different spacings and against different characters.
I mean it’s legit on everyone. I methodically went through the cast to make sure. The timing on the j.:f::h: is tighter on larger characters, but it still works. I played something like 80 games of marvel yesterday and I don’t think I dropped it once.
Hmm, I wouldn’t actually say that it messes it up. It’s just something you have to take note of, that the larger characters you generally have to delay the j.:f::h: a touch more than is required for normal-sized characters to compensate for location boxes. But that timing still works for smaller characters too, it just floats them differently on the way down and slightly affects whether you can get the extra damage with the land :h: or not. But again despite having had the combo down for less than a day during my marathon matches last night I had no trouble at all adjusting the details on the fly based on how my opponent was reacting to it. It just seems weird to say that it “works pretty well on smaller characters” specifically; The only thing it actually messes up is when they summon an assist that is a drastically different size than the point character, they’ll float differently and one will fall out of the combo. Which is unfortunate, but in the end, also something you can deal with.
… There are no combos in that video that do more than you would get if you just properly finished a good Taskmaster combo off the same starter.
Don’t get me wrong, using the assists to follow up Skrull stuff is cool, but… You should probably be starting that stuff off with Skrull himself. Right now all I can think is “This is totally pointless.” You can say stuff like, “Well combo scaling changes may make that Taskmaster stuff not work in Ultimate,” but I would reject that because the same is true for Skrull.
I’ve noticed some ways to improve the combo I posted previously. I’ll be making a new video this evening.
Lol, I can’t believe no one had done this before. Nice find.
I noticed the other day that you could probably loop it on grounded opponents since you land quickly enough to hit them with a cr.l or shield skills after it. Dunno why it didn’t occur to me that this would be possible.
I guess it’s easier than I thought it was. Figured it wouldn’t hit from that far, which is why I was concerned with backing further out. But I guess that, y’know, whatever.
I like the date it was uploaded though.
Well, damn. I’ll just delete mine then. It does not deserve to exist~
I doubt they’ll be changing that at this point. I mean, it’s not even good with the CURRECT system mechanics. I may already not work at all with new OTG properties.
Now regretting deleting my video, since it was probably more practical than the abovementioned since it can requires more lenient timing during the string of legion arrows (can tk it higher without it going over them). Oh well. I’ll put it as an afterthought to the actual video I was going to be making explaining all about the charging star relaunch bnb, corner variations, and character-specific notes.
I was kidding about the nerf. But yeah, the loop is cool if Task is by himself, but this is MvC3 after all, so there are more efficient ways to kill. It’s still nice to have that option if you’re sitting on a ton of meter and feeling lazy :D.
