I agree with Andy’s assessment. They aren’t at all over rated, you just have to be able to cover your assist. Same goes with Haggar and Tron. They’re all really really good, but if you don’t protect them they’ll be dead in 2 calls.

that goes without saying for any assist in mvc3 one wrong call and there goes your team.

Doom missiles are really good with a point character who’s hitbox overlaps dooms so you cant visually que in on when he’s called. I know dorm and sent do that really well. Makes dealing with missiles just a little bit harder. Now that the games been out for a little while i dont really think any character is unuseable or that anything is really broken yet. I do think some things and characters are really annoying but you can pretty much deal with anything the game has to offer. Except maybe hagger vs dark phoenix simply unwinable one on one.

I have a problem of learning characters and not putting together good teams. I use mag, doom, taskmaster, hulk, and hagger pretty well at this point but I have no team synergy with any of those characters on any team so far. Although taskmaster hagger works pretty well but im looking for something more effective in my team. the game is still crack though. if mk9 is crack as well dont know what i will do.

You are correct, Jay, but it seems that people ignore the fact that they have to protect their assist with those 3 in particular because they are so good to call ‘randomly’.

I get around the ‘visual’ cue by just listening for the point character to call for them. In fact, that will be my tip for the day…for a much easier time punishing/avoiding assists, just listen for them.

Also, rocks allow for faster teleport shenanigans and cover the teleport

Rocks assist is also very good vs cap america zone. Only shit that gave me any problems at FR.

@Ron: One of the biggest reasons I’ve been telling people not to use headphones like this is SF. It’s much faster and you need the extra info from the audio about what’s going on.

@Jay: You can try and run away and bait a teleport, then just lariat and super that ho.

@MikeJ: They do, but the rocks are a little too fast sometimes. Having a slow projectile assist is a pretty huge benefit because it remains an active threat for much longer (Doom missiles, Sent drones, Joe boomerang, etc.).

Finished. Took a bit longer than anticipated, but had a few snags cus I was tired and doing dumb shit.

The 9 pin is the joystick and the 15 pin is are the buttons. Going to work on doing V2 cords that look far more professional (hopefully equipped with a small boot that can fit inside of a TE), and maybe coming up with a plexi template for tracing the mounting locations D-sub connectors. Ideally, the joystick connection will be in the upper left hand corner where the 3 support beams are near the home/turbo panel, while joystick and LED connections will be where the two connections are currently.

Again, the whole purpose of this is to have easily interchangeable face plates for different games, different stick layouts. I plan to have one for MK9, Marvel, SF and Tekken (I personally am not a fan of extraneous buttons and I can feel button plugs).

Looks SOLID man.

GGs Tonight… Thanks again for the Deadpool and Wolvie help

Marvel and SF are both six button games right? Is the marvel panel American parts and layout of something?

Looser spring. For SF, I prefer a thicker spring since I use charge characters. I’m contemplating dropping in an IL if I can find some way to put a ball top on it.

Sooooooo many wires, but I know I’ll be jealous when you whip out a new faceplate for whatever game we switch to haha. Especially since you can have corresponding art too.

@Chris Decent! always a good job as always chris and knowing how you work, i bet you didn’t stop till it was damn near perfect!

you down for some games when i get off work tommorow???

Yeah, its a bit wire intensive, but all of that is required for this specific mod (pad hack to MC + Imp + neutrik. Essentially, all of this extra is an easily removable barrier strip. I could do this with any series of mods: PS360s, Chimps, pad hacks, whatever with no trouble (the hardest part would seriously be mounting it). The REAL sexiness comes when I have Arc eyes + Sparky Jr. (programmable LED boards) and I can interchange faceplates with those installed just as easily and reprogram the board from a plug and play interface that’s installed in the side panels of the stick.

Drew: sure, but not too long. An hour or so is all I need/want. And nah man: I actually have my joystick and buttons wired backwards than what I intended, but fuck it, I just wanted to see how to work it. When I do the V2 cords and install this mod in my other 2 (soon to be 3) sticks, then Ill go back and fix this one.

Yeah, you’re not going to be fitting American parts in a MadCatz stick anyhow. The best you can probably get is, I think, a JLW-UM with a Sanwa GT-0 plate (though you may have to bend some tabs and hack up the wiring harness). Add a custom American style panel from LLC and you should be good. You’ll never get Happ buttons so it’ll still feel kind of weird, but hey, the stick is the biggest change.

There are no ball tops for the iL. You would probably have to get a custom shaft machined which would be prohibitively expensive, difficult, and unnecessary considering you can just do what I said above. It still doesn’t matter though because American sticks are made of motherfuckin’ MDF instead of plastic.

EDIT: Down to play tomorrow.

If you guys plan on having a gathering tomorrow or maybe some SLC stuff i might be down as well.

**Chris

**Basically a mod to end all mods when your done with that shit you will have every option covered and you will never have to fuck with that stick ever again unless your changing faceplates.

Sigh as much as i love melty blood i havent played it in awhile (4-5months) so much to the point that i might even drop trying to keep up with it. Dont have a ps2 capable stick and i wont for awhile. Yes i can mod mine but just not even in the mood for game. Esp since SSFIV, marvel etc are all requiring alot of time. I dont even want to talk about all the time my ass is gonna be putting into AE when that shit comes out. :lovin:

Does anyone want to play…now?

Actually, sir, do you know those buttons from the Pelican? They fit in the case. I’d have to order an LLC metal panel and get the holes cut just a tad larger. I’d also have to change out the springs, but could easily do that. There’s also a way to fit an IL into a TE that… I’m kind of interested in doing to see how ghetto they made it to make it work.

@Matt: Pretty much. This stick I can call a wrap. There’s literally nothing else that I can think of that I can do with it that isn’t prohibitively expensive or ergonomical.

But that’s good though, honestly. All I have to do now is perfect the wiring management, and that’ll be simple once I figure out what works.

The custom shaft is what I was considering, but if they are talking more than 15 bucks for an effin shaft, then I can scrap the whole idea without losing a wince of sleep.

EDIT: Speaking of sticks, I’m kind of anxious to get my hands on that Round 3 to see what kind of sexy I can run with that, so whenever you want that money, its a wrap.

Those buttons were fucking terrible, though. Just save yourself the trouble and keep some Sanwa buttons (or try some Crown buttons). And yeah, there is a super ghetto way to get the iL in there, but it involves destroying most of the case and does not have the the highest chance of success (or reversibility). Plus I don’t even think it would work with all of the other things you have in there.

I’m telling you, man, JLW-UM-8 and a GT-0. That is the closest you’ll get to the American feel.
