I fail to understand what is so special about Dudley that makes him the only character you can play.
But then again, Im pretty impartial to character selection and play whoever the hell is good for me.
Speaking of which, Sagat is pretty interesting, and that jab, jab, RH combo is too hot. Makes me want to work with him just to land it (and variations of it) in matches, but I’ll let you have him for now, Matt.
BTW, bought the MVC3 guide: I’ll probably have it a read and the frame data memorized over the weekend or so. I may suck at it, but I will be a walking encyclopedia.
Yea man. Sagat is the last character im getting down in Super. Dont know if ill get on the yang, yun train for AE. having fun with my 8-10+ characters in super, and adding sagat to them has been very fun.
i don’t get it either, but I just can’t get into the other characters, even when i try. Ill keep at it, but the game is even more boring when I’m not playing Dudz
3S which assist do you use with doom predominantly on your team? Doom Rocks or Hidden Missiles?
People bitch about sentinel but personally I find Captain America about as aggravating. A projectile that crosses through you and comes back around for another go is annoying as hell. Sentinels little assist bot train is my main gripe with him.
Netcode is shit in this game. What happened to our local matches Matt? Before there was very little lag, but the last 2 times I played you it was pretty damn laggy.
Good games last night. Dang that MK9 is actually kinda sweet! But learning it one layout and then switching to another had me holdin’ the wrong block and generally confusing me haha. Also, mapping throw to jab made me throw Mike J WAY more times than either of us thought.
I guess I didn’t understand exactly how the throws work. Is a throw button required? You could press the throw button OR press jab+short like 3S? then I might have to play
A B G (tag)
C D x x
Cause having a good throw with my thumb and index is more important to me than guarding with thumb. I can just keep my ring finger on it. I’m definitely getting this for 360 cause the versuscity layout on my xbox stick is a lot nicer than the compromised layout on the TEs.
(. . . yeah I’m using numpad/weeabo notation for this game :dealwithitdog: )
In other news, completely chopping off my foot in Marvel to play the dumbest team. But it’ll be so worth it. Andy I might need to take you up on that Marvel coaching you were talking about, Doom’s on that team. Adonis, I’ll be looking to you for Dorm strats. . . . I don’t think anyone in town plays MODOK. . .
** oGsMC is the best protoss in the world. DOMINATED julyzerg and that dude was the second best zerg in the world in sc1. Golden mouse winner too. daaamn. MC made him look so free though.
Jarv
I found that using the first 2 buttons top one for throw and the bottom one for guard worked well for me. You definitely dont want to have guard so far away. The next set of 4 i have setup like tekken. “tr LP,RP,br LK,RK”
Whos is getting down tonight. i think ill be off work early again.
Yeah, I mean, I can’t lie and say I understand, but eh, its not me. You like to hit buttons and be in people’s face all of the time. Me personally, I prefer the continuous battle for space. Working with Chun, I had forgotten how much I loved it before I started working on a rush down/heavy frame trap Rogster. That said, though, every character has to make viable plays for space, and that’s probably why I’m not really impartial to using any character. (that and I find the simplest shit entertaining, like… the look of Sagat’s s.LP s.LP s.RH combos, haha).
Marvel might actually be the game for you if you can get past your frustration and try to learn when you’re playing matches instead of depending on people to provide negative reinforcement in order to teach you.
Lycanthropy: looking at your avatar… isn’t it… Foot Dive?
EDIT: Matt - I might be playing today(ish) - today feels more like one of those lab/research days for me though. Just give me a call when you get off work if Jay isn’t up. I’ll be at Adam’s.
Hrmf well it was playable, but still it definitely was worse then when I played you early on. I dunno I felt a little spoiled from then, maybe that was rare and what we played a day ago was more so the norm. Go figure.
My God why is Thor so bad. It makes absolutely no sense how horrible this character is. he’s going to have to do some horribly silly shit just to compete.
Chris Doom totally sounds like he says foot die even though he actually says dive. Plus it’s funny. And I think sometimes he says “face me!” but I keep thinking he says “face beam!”
I’ll try to be in the lab as much as I can with basic combos for Team Chair; Tuesday it’s time to get blown up and get some insight on Doom/Dorm. MODOK might have to be my own little pet project.
There’s nothing like having both characters dead and then having MODOK come in. . . the theme, the fact that he’s MODOK, coming in with j.A, coming in and then low-flying around. . . it just makes me laugh. TOO funny.
I’ve switched back and forth between the two assists, right now im using rocks. Missles i Feel are used more for zoning teams where as rocks are more for rush down teams. So basically its up to you with whatever you want to do. Since im running a hard core rush down team, im using rocks.
Im going to play both games and become solid in both games. I think im gonna take a leaf out of your book and just take it in and just do some heavy thinking on it. Im not gonna drop super cause i still have fun with it, and i can still learn to control my spacing with Dudz, i just need to think instead of act.
Not entirely true. Missiles make any attempt to punish you outside of AAAAAAAAARRRRRRMMMM situations unsafe and get you a free combo, rocks is better for extensions and covering a part of the screen. They’re both good for rushdown. Beam I would consider better for zoning.
well yeah if you use it to zone improperly you will get punished, but i feel missiles are better for zoning, beam is way too slow to be a good zoning tool. Im saying Rocks is MUCH better for rushdown than missiles are
I.E calling an assist like doom missles out with spencer out in play means you’re bad! and that goes for any of dooms assists, same thing for calling them out against characters with full screen beam supers like Ryu’s and AKumas
IMO Hidden Missiles is best for covering rushdown. Call him, move in, if they guess right missiles keep you relatively safer. They are too slow for zoning, plus when they lock on they lose the homing. Eventually the opponent will learn this and your zone breaks down.
The beam is your zone. It has massive durability for a beam. Even countercalling it wins against most projectiles. It can be used to rush too though, pins em down for a second so you can mix up. (Ron once said this was his best assist)
Rocks can do both but the others do them better. I think if you switch modes often then the rocks is more useful, but if your game focuses on one or the other then you are better off picking elsewhere.
Ok good point, and since i do switch modes often. Rushdown with zero, zoning with task master, rocks do suit me well. I just felt the missiles as an assist along with a good zone point character was pretty much a solid zone tactic. It worked well with doom and task master anyway.
also for some reason i thought you spelled rocks wrong 0_o
I’m starting to think missiles are incredibly overrated. Doom stays out FOREVER to get hit, plus a well timed command throw or teleport pretty much nullifies the threat of a late missile hit. Both of those are things I’ve been starting to capitalize on when fighting Doom assists.
