There’s is absolutely nothing wrong with your reasons. All of them are extremely accurate. It’s just like I said on FB.
Understandable. NOTHING you learned in SFIV, aside from good combo timing, is going to transfer to this game. It’s going to take you a long time to get to a competitive level, and it’s going to be very tough because you’re learning a totally new style of gameplay. It’s probably much, much harder than you anticipated it would be, and I don’t blame you if you don’t feel like it’s worth it.
Yes, you picked kind of a hard team to start learning with, and your unwillingness to play/lack of interest in the rest of the cast is not going to make the game fun. People will work with you and explain why you’re getting hit, but you might not be able to implement strategies to get better until you’re able to cope with the new speed and mechanics.
All I was saying was don’t drop it out of frustration because there is plenty of potential to have fun with this game. If you don’t really have the care/interest to, though, then post that bitch on Craigslist and be done with it.
Have you seen the vid on the page MikeG? Shows some ideas you may want to try after Trish’s super. Might want to check it out. Dont know how well your team would be able to take advantage of it.
Day 2 Chun in Pmode has brought some more combos into fruition including combos off her jumping down+medium instant overhead. Which i found out combos into jumping M if you do an instant air dash immediately after the IOH in the corner. Timing isnt too bad either. She gets her full damage combos off it as well.
Day 3 ill need to get some matches in so i can work all my setups ive been working on into real gameplay. Too hard to do it consistantly online in lag.
Logan + anyone else thats interested.
if you guys have a moment to play sometime tonight (ill be up till like 1-2am) or tomorrow evening let me know.
Yeah, there’s not a huge amount of usefulness with my team setup, but I’m still experimenting with characters.
Also, god damn Crespo has a sick Task/Akuma.
I understand that, the comment was more focused on Drew getting mad and Matt shitting on my Day ONE Hsein-ko.
I’m really glad it wasn’t just me because I don’t want to turn someone away from a game just because I found a fun gimmick to run with until it starts getting countered reliably and/or find a more solid third.
With my day 0 team shoto. with 3 hit bnbs into super…
Youve played hsien-ko every time ive played you so its atleast day 2-3. even still if you got upset at what i said than i apologize. It wasnt meant to be insulting. I was just showing chris how to beat your team with his team shoto. He was having alot of difficulty with it. I wanted to show the him how to punish the holes in your block strings and how to properly counter hyper armor hsien-ko (although rons snap out idea is 1,000,000 times better)
I think its good for people to run with what works until they come along a player that will make them change the game up. I cant hate on anyone for that.
MM in KOF13 loser pays for the winners plane ticket to japan!
who’s down?
actually on the hsien ko super armor thing little fun fact she can be hit out of the activation of it, which still causes her to use a bar and not have the super armor for it. Also snapping that chick back in when people are whoring out the super armor assist is the best way to negate it and others like it like arthur and haggar at the moment.
Man hype first week and then reality set in have to make up for all the fuck offary from last week. Happy hunting.
To chris on the whole quitting the game thing great points but i will say that you’ve already spent the money on it and until u can recoup something and get whatever value you can out of it.
Sad part is, I had thought of this by the time the 2nd game came around, but… I couldn’t force my fingers to hit QCF + assist for the life of me, only because I’ve never tagged anyone out before.
You know, I was playing Super tonight with Drew and it just seems… rather…slow. Not that I mind that, but for the life of me, I couldn’t shake my inclination to pop in Marvel. I think I just needed to get that whole thing out, cus I usually won’t say anything and let it eat at me while I’m trying to figure it out. Sorry about the bitch fest guys. Time to go do the reading and research thing.
After looking at it, hmmm… idk. My main strength is spacing and zoning, so maybe I’ll go that route? While its true that almost no character interests me, that doesn’t really bother me that much. Any suggestions?
Every character in the game has a move that you can combo snap back from.
Which is for all intensive purposes their standing H attack. So if your not used to doing it straight up try doing it from a basic ground string that ends in standing H then snapback. Youll see that it combos.
Also i think for all intensive purposes your team shoto lacks synergy. Just how well each character compliments each other. If your team lacks synergy that will usually mean you will have to try even harder than you normally would have to achieve the same things your opponents can do.
When you have a free day lets get up and we can go over this guide and hit up pmode to find a team that will work more with your strong points.
For right now lets keep akuma, and find another 2. Chun requires advanced movement that you might not be used to, in order to get damage, and as far as ryu… you can find someone with a better assist(no inv on shoryuken as an assist), and better battery(usually a character that builds up bars of meter for your other characters yet still does damage without using it (or maybe with 1 level 1 super) with some better ways to get damage than. A good battery character is amazing compliment for akuma because ALOT of things behind come unsafe with he gets meter for his raging demon. Kinda like super demon in sfiv.
done.
My suggestion: Task, Dorm, Akuma, Iron Man, VJoe, or Wesker.
EDIT: Tomorrow night at Andy’s should be interesting. I want to see ALL OF YOU make it.
honestly chris i think u will do well with ryu, trish, and hagger as a team.
You couldn’t pay me to snap someone out in this game.
You play Ryu right? Kill her goofy ass with beam super she won’t come back out.
Chris you have potential for this game just need to play lots more. The biggest difference is the tempo changes. Not only is the game faster but it can slow to a halt real fast and then get crazy fast within a few seconds. You’ve never dealt with that kind of scenario I’m betting so it seems frustrating. Also if you don’t like exploring counter strategies, then just ask. My favorite thing about these games is figuring out counter strats. Its why I play. Anyone that knows their character knows how to get around their BS. I can look at a setup and tell you where the hole is. Just ask.
P.S. Akuma is on my active roster now so we can converse if you want.
P.P.S. No one else can play Haggar. There is already one too many! He’s mine damn it.
I could see that as his starting team. Ryu to stick with the basics, so he wont have to fight with the character AND the engine he already knows ryu that dudes basics never change, trish has a really effective zone, and haggars assist will help with that good balrog style down/back defense with some anti rush down. He could also weigh putting in akuma instead of ryu as well.
If you dont want to go that route. try doom. Dooms rock assist can help as well, and will compliment both offense and defense. Missile super is better though but only is much better when your trying to put on that good zone.
I’ve played Amaterasu/Dante since release but Hsien-ko I didn’t pick up seriouisly until Friday. I MIGHT have randomed her. So if you’re saying day 0 = haven’t played until that day, then she’s day 0 as well…
I accept your apology. Next time, don’t go flaunting around facebook how you smashed some guys team, it comes off as abrasive and arrogant. It also devalues Chris’s skill in the game.
matt your pretty much right with my thinking. Also trish ryu and hagger can compliment each other well and theyre play style is much slower than the normal pace of the game. and when i played chris his biggest problem was keeping pace with the speed of the game to make adjustments and such. Hagger forces u to both respect the pipe and the assist. And trishes keep away slows down most rush down in the game. I imagine with haggers assist she can keep u out for a good little while.
I also think chris is still trying to learn the basic of the game and those characters will let him learn the basic very well. From there he can move on to whomever just like he did in sf4.
Well I didnt think you would be so sensitive to it. Especially since the first day i played you in Super. You came off as extremely arrogant with the hand flares and the smirks on your face lookin like a super glazed teddy graham feelin yourself. after beating me the first round(ask Chris he noticed it on many occasions). On the first day i played you.(Even though you lost all subsequent matches) Stuff like that just makes me feel good about beating someone whole-handedly and talking smack, but i guess i was wrong in my assumption. You already have my apology. I come from a very competitive background of FPShooters since '96 and those guys talk way more shit than you could ever imagine.
Yea you pretty much made a perfect team for him. It should suit him well.
This silly bitch goes right through it. That’s when I gave up. In one of the games, he called her and tried to jump in with Dante, I do a low air beam so I can DHC Akuma’s beam to finish the job, and she goes right through it and hits me out of it (she took about half life). At that point, I pretty much said fuck this, hahaha. In retrospect, I could have done the beam in a different position on the screen.
God damn hahahahahaha
Nah, man. I have no skill. The point of them playing w/ my team was to show me that there was a way to win that I wasn’t cognizant of. However, even now that I’ve seen it, chances are that it still wouldn’t matter that much. You play the game better than I do. Its as simple as that.
In other news: I’m rebuilding my old stick and have this kick ass idea involving LEDs and a built in iPod.
lol, all right lets get this sword fight outta the way…
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle! That’s basically what I was doing to her and why I was saying to start Ryu/Akuma on point rather than Chun. By the way, if someone picks their team after yours, you can change your starting character by holding their assist before the fight starts. Forgot to mention that.
Also, wow, Matt, you had to edit that in? Damn dude.
The scenarios are totally different, though. An up-and-coming player beats an already well-established local name and feels good (the hand flourishes were probably because Mike is new to using a joystick). Not certain I see how that’s arrogant, but I wasn’t there. Either way, fighting games drama
