I find it interesting that you never get this behaviour on lower viewed streams. I don’t know if it’s because that only people who care will actually bother to find these more obscure streams or if its the large group mentality that just makes everyone retarded.
I think at least part of it is how fast the chat becomes. The faster the chat is the less likely you can have any real discussion, so it often favours more sharp, catchy remarks rather than any thoughtful post. That’s why i think stream chats get much worse than forums, but forums can get just as infested; so that doesn’t really explain the forum side.
To which the answer is: show how the old game can compete.
Of course new games kill the old games, if nothing else, the companies want that to happen (if nobody stopped playing ST, there’d be less reason to buy SF3, which is kind of what happened in that case).
The problem is that people are trying to work the system, and saying a game is or isn’t good based on other considerations (as an example, using netcode you don’t like whether or not it works). Regardless of whether you think a game is hurting the game you love, or if they made a choice you didn’t like about the netcode, don’t try to push an agenda using your player reaction.
Can’t it be both?

As of right now it’s only on my computer. I’ve been working on a site that should have been done in February, but I’ve been repeatedly sidetracked. There are a number of community issues that I don’t feel get enough attention, so if no one else is going to mention them I might as well. That article and other stuff I’ve been writing recently is supposed to be for content once I actually get that thing up.

When I go full auto on an opinion I tend to not let things like who pays who’s bills get in the way, which tends to get me into trouble sometimes. I’d rather say stuff like that where theres no collateral damage. Reread some of those threads at the beginning of the MVC3 forums if you can find one that hasn’t been completely nuked. I was surprised every day I logged on and wasn’t banned. Plus everyone doesn’t go on SRK.
Even less people go to Option Select or I Play Winner. you should submit to eventhubs under a pen name.

Xes does it all the time. Half the time he repeats what somebody else says in a less eloquent manner and the other he plays devil’s advocate with poorly written argument.

Nah you really do ruin threads your in, you were banned for a reason. What ruins threads isn’t my (entirely ignorable at will or by forum settings) stubbornness and unpopular opinions, its the need of people to go personal.
Like in the example above… I hate to actually focus it on myself, its awkward as hell, but Pertho felt the need to bring me up kind of arbitrarily for a personal attack in a thread about personal attacks.
That’s why I said it’ll never change, even the people that claim to hate it do it pretty consistently when their own annoyances and prejudices come to the fore. It’s always different when it’s something you (or I) hate.

The problem is not that your opinion is different (though you love to take the opposite side just to drag with pointless discussions), is the dumb attitude that you have the major part of the time.
When you behave we have been able to have civilized discussions even we have been able to agree sometimes. To bad that is not the case the major part of the time.
