While I am not the one running T7, I am the one responsible for running Tekken this year. I’m doing this so that I can put T5DR against the wall so that everyone doesnt get squished between the tekken cabinets and games like rumble fish. Dark Dragon also has some input on how cabinets should be re-arranged for the weekend of T7.
Darkdragon and I talked about the issue of moving a couple of cabinets around so the place doesn’t get over-crowded. I told him my plan of getting things done and he gave me the “go ahead and try it.” He told me he tried contacting estarburst via e-mail but he hasn’t heard anything yet. Darkdragon also told me that Orbit’s manager, Simon, has flaked out on a meeting with Nagata twice already. After hearing this I called Simon about the MTV situation and how he could move a few cabinets around to accomodate the TV crews and gamers so the place doesnt get over-crowded. He flat out told me he doesnt care about a TV crew coming and that if the whole thing is a nuisance to him he rather not them (MTV) come. I was pretty shocked about this so I called up human relations of estarburst and told him about the whole situation and how Simon didn’t really care if MTV came to orbit. He said he was glad I called him and that he will talk to Simon personally about it. Now Darkdragon and I have a meeting with Simon on Thursday. Wish us luck.

maybe you can elaborate on what a shit job I’m doing, since I don’t possess your superior intellect. So far you’ve done nothing except critique me while you haven’t done anything yourself.
I just want to point out a few things to get it straight with everyone.
#1. KillaOR “Was” a member of Deadly Alliance. He left shortly after the True Life I’m a gamer show on MTV to sign with MLG. Well you know how it goes with most people…always forgetting where they come from.
#2. The pilot has been approved to air that is why they are putting in the money to do it. If the pilot gets the numbers that they want, then they will make a series out of it.
#3. The show is about the Empire…“HOWEVER” I want to use the Empire to redirect the attention towards the community rather than a show strictly based on us. In my opinion, although I have a lot of pride in the Empire because we are in it, honestly I think we would reach a wider demographic if we showcased the Empire “FEATURING” the Greater Gamer Community rather than just the Empire. This way we follow through with our cause/goal and we do not forget where we came from.
#4. When I was at the meeting with the producers and directors I made sure that we would have control over the direction of what they are shooting or it would be a no go, “SO” no one has to worry about stupid shit being recorded, because I will MAKE SURE it will not make it. This is our chance as a whole to fix what mistakes have been made in the past. Although this will be a joint effort by the Greater Gamer community and Empire Arcadia, it is my sole responsibility that we don’t fuck this up…not on the Empire’s watch.
actually i have. I’ve voiced suggestions to Justin when something comes up. Just because I don’t post my journal on how i’m helping out with T7 online doesn’t mean i’m not helping.
If you need me to flat out tell what’s wrong with what you’re doing, then you are indeed the idiot that you just agreed to being.
Don’t you realized that threatening Simon does nothing but screw up T7? or future T tournies? Simon can flat out say no cause he RUNS the fucking place. How big of a leverage is that? He can close orbit the weekend T7 runs because he doesn’t like the way he has to deal with people like you.
You need to form real, legit reason as to why he should move the cabs. To allow TV crews to move around does not amount to anything on his side of things. And what magical wall is he going to move your T5 cabs to? If you haven’t noticed, there are cabs all around the walls already. Meaning he’d have to move all those machines out of the way. And what’s going to happen after the weekend? he’s going to have to swap them back. You know to Simon, moving cabs around probrably costs money, money that he doesn’t have to spend unless there’s a really good reason to. And let me tell you now, MTV coming to film Empire is not one of them (no offense to the Empire).

In case this wasn’t obvious from last year, if anyone is caught with alcohol in ORBIT, their entry fees will be forfeit and they will be banned from ORBIT for the duration of the weekend.
Simon runs orbit yes, but the higher ups run Simon. The higher ups say that they really want MTV to come and I told him that tournaments like T7 bring in lots of money (and it does). Estarburst will do anything in their power so that T7 happens and everything goes over smoothly so they get free publicity.
Best case scenario:
- they move a few cabinets around. I talked to estarburst and they were quite understanding of it.
Worst case scenario:
- next year simon resents T8 directors and tells you he doesnt want your business. All you do is simply call this number: 1888-977 4263 and ask for Gary Walters. Tell them the amount of money major tournaments bring in.
I’m sure you are steaming now that you think T7 might be cancelled or whatever but you are just having what is called a “freak-out.” Look objectively at the facts instead of jumping to conclusions. Also I don’t appreciate my name being in your sig and calling me an idiot with your lame reasoning. I resent that.
None taken. I completely understand where you are coming from. With that I would like to put this out there, by allowing MTV to be there this gives the Orbits Arcade good publicity. However I have heard all to often “I don’t need exposure or promotion, I can do that on my own.” Not to say that he will say that but to suggest that he will want something in return other than just exposure. With that I can say this your place will not be able to accomodate all the business that you are going to wheel in when MTV comes with us there, and thats a good thing from a business point of view. The only real problem is “HOW” do you organize things so that it does not get out of hand where you can accomodate, the Empire, your gamers/community and the crew.
Well first let me give you guys some vital information that would most likely help rather than arguing, which will get us no where with 3 weeks remaining. #1. The camera crew will be no more than 4 people from what I am told. #2 there will be no studio set up. They are going to use clip mics on the people that they need to hear as background noise is loud enough. #3. They will have 3 to 4 large duffle bags with camera equipment. However this is stuff that they can place in a closet or set down in a space provided that it is safe and will not be stolen. In conclusion its not MTV that is going to be taking up the room…its the amount of people that is going to be at the event to compete that is going to take up that large amount and if that is the case then I would “SUGGEST” that making a few changes for the customers that are coming to play would be “IDEA”. I don’t want to tell anyone how to run their business but as I stated, I am just suggesting what could work.

Moving around a few cabinets is really for the benefit of the gamers as TFGM says but at the same time Camera crews will definately benefit at the same time. I’m not talking about a drastic make-over for Orbit, just one that maximize a little more space for the gamers.
