after reading GGxxxxxxxx xx x players’ post, i honestly believe SLASH must be the most important game event for t7.
they are just trying to get the hype going and giving their two cents out to participate in the canada vs empire event. their impressions are understandable because thats the only fighting game they can play, and if theres no slash/ggxxxxxxxxxxxx going on, they are basically pointless/fags/useless/trash/homos/garbage/fulgy fobs or wutever the flying fuk u wanna call them, and thats not important! cause they have their pride.
i say nagata should remake t7 trailer and highlight SLASH as the most event of T7.

first of all, the guilty gear commity here is dying. The number of players we have is constantly dying. They move away from canada, stop playing coz they’re too busy or whatever, or some even lose interest in the game coz of the lack of people. Now why do people leave the game for other games? BECAUSE WE GET NO RESPECT. dont give me any shit about ggxx being a dumb/no skill/scrubby game or whatever u can think of, enough people play in other places (US, china, wherever) to prove that its not that. why do i think we get no respect? well im not sure how any of the trailers are made, but im assuming u guys actually take video clips of various games recorded during our previous tourneys and put it together. of coz, the exception is GGXX. U guys find some random clips of people playing, and put it together. whats funny is the trailer clip would be showing slash clips but we dont even have slash. This is because none of our matches gets recorded. The last time i recalled anybody taping any matches of GGXX in any of the tourneys would be T4 or T5. i wasnt here for T6 singles so i cant say for that, but T6 team wasnt recorded. However, i’d often see other “tourney officials” such as Nagata lock record other games such as CVS2, MVC2, 3S. Even supposedly the larger tourneys like the christmas ones or march break ones. Im not saying the trailer was poorly made, im really glad u guys tried to promote GGXX in the trailer. Of coz if all the clips of various games are random ones from somewhere online i have nothing to say.
Aside from that, i remember in T6 team when we were at our semi finals and we had to wait for team emperor/other people who play multiple games (js master) to be ABLE to play us, what happened? we got them last. they just kept on being taken away althought we’ve asked a long time ago. we end up waiting for what? 2 hours? they were playing like finals or whatever for everygame, taking forever playing a few matches per game. then they come over after 2 hours, play like 10 minutes, and its done. so if we were waiting for them for so long, why cant we get them before u guys? maybe its some management thing which im not familiar with, but waiting for 2 hours is just ridiculous. now this actually happens in every tournament, we usually get the player we need last.
So our community is dying, we get no respect, OBVIOUSLY orbit doesnt care about us. it took us like a year of begging to actually get #R, and i wont be suprised if they dont get slash since its dying. Now during the christmas tourney, i remember nagata saying something like “orbit is planning to get slash sooner than later, so dont be suprised to be playing slash at the tourney” what happened to that? it died off. if Tekken 5 can get their Dark Ressurection when it comes out, why dont we ggxx players get our ggxx slash? U guys are saying we’re gonna play slash at T7 since the beginning of this post in april, its mid june, the tourneys in mid july, we still dont have slash. should we not be worried? even if we get it now, we’ll need to adapt to the changes, learn the new stuff etc. are we supposed to play ggxx slash at T7 without ever playing the game? (some of us have, but some of us havent) We ask questions, nobody can answer us whats going on, our events (5v5) are undecided, so why cant we say something. Coz the game isnt popular here so we get flamed for being worried? thats just ridiculous.
and about the many versions of this game, the reason why i play this game is because its HIGHLY balanced. why do i say that? coz every character when used at the same level has a good chance of winning. i watch MVC2, all i see is Magneto, cable, sentinel, etc. i watch cvs2, i see bison, sagat, etc. i watch 3s, i see a majority of kens, chuns, yuns, etc. now i know some of u actually use lower tiers but its rare. they have many versions of this game to try to balance the game for everybody. (if u look at evo2k5 ggxx#R results, top 8 players, 5 of them use eddie) now eddie is weakened, other people have chances. so why not have more versions if it means a more balanced game play? if anything u should say that capcom doesnt care about u cvs2 mvc2 3s players because ur game will remain rigged forever.
anyway thats a hell of a long post, im bored so i wrote that much, and im prepared to be flamed =(

Okay Mr. Pui… firstly I see no reason why you should be angry at dice for making a seemingly sarcastic comment in response to Nagata’s post. It is kind of stupid that he made a sarcastic post on the net cause we all know how well sarcasm can be observed in text, but apparently you missed it. (Note the sarcasm in the previous sentence…) Also, the fact is that Dice considers himself part of the community should make him just as important as any of you. However, you seem to think that just because he isn’t a serious player his voice is less important? Maybe that’s why this community of yours is dying. If you (as a top player I’m assuming…) can’t give the lesser players the respect they deserve, then the community as a whole really shouldn’t be given the respect you seem to want.
Just look at Nagata, the man gets no respect for his CvS2 gameplay despite placing 7th at ECC. You speak as if the players of your game get no respect, when clearly a lot of the top SF players aren’t respected either unless their names are JWong or Ricky Ortiz. You wanna know what type of players get the respect? Those that are willing to travel and can show domination in ALL fighting games. Kindevu and RF don’t just dominate at GGXX fyi… they’re top CvS2 players as well. Don’t complain that you get no respect when you aren’t willing to travel to tournaments either. The people in the SF community that are respected head out to majors and that gets their names seen by the masses. You guys on the other hand would rather sit at orbit and wait for the SF players (or Dice) to bring the competition to you.
Even more importantly, instead of bashing the people who are at least trying to hype up the Canadian GGXX scene (aka Dice) you should sit back and let him talk, cause any hype is good hype as long as it brings in the competition.
And BTW, crying about not having / on here isn’t the thing to do. When Nagata wants a game brought in he goes directly to the management. From what I see by the posts, you guys are talking to orbit management through Nagata. Maybe instead of relying on and complaining to the voice of the SF community and someone who I wouldn’t even say is a part of your community… you should consider putting in as much effort as he does in getting new games into Orbit. Maybe then you’ll get the game you think you deserve.
Just to end this off… I’ll go over what really disappoints me in your post.

You say nobody knows dice, when I’m willing to bet that the majority of the people who are coming from out of town and those not in your community know dice more than any of you. At least he’s willing to be active in posting here and spreading the word for your game. If it takes an unknown player in the community to be the voice of the community because you guys aren’t willing to speak up, then so be it. Don’t bash him for doing what you aren’t willing to do.

Saying he doesn’t want the game when he clearly said he does based on teh fact that he isn’t as good as you is stupid. Just because he isn’t good enough to want to play in tourneys doesn’t mean this man doesn’t want the game. Also, this is where you seem to start to exclude him from the community as well. “u’re not as serious into ggxx as we are”. Don’t say he’s part of the community and then say he isn’t shortly after, its a stupid thing to do when your community is dying.

He fought to have a 5v5 at T7, and that’s something you should be thanking him for. How can you even say this is a bad thing? If you don’t want the competition, don’t show up, but if you want people to be brought in the tournament needs hype. I believe Dice was the one who brought in the hype and is probably the one who is responsible for bringing in any serious GGXX competition you guys get at T7. Don’t bash the guy for doing the work for you.

I played 3s for a while, even though I am a scrub, I do see intense zoning and deadly pokes with perfect range. But a lot of ppl who plays ggxx does not see that, most of them thinks ggxx is just pressing buttonz, and sometime it works, cuz u aren?t playing the higher lv players. After all with this small community where is the room to progress? oo, some of us actually travel to JP ,HK and China for ggxx, and everytime they come back they own, we are looking forward to meet with the US players.^^

I’m going to direct this at Pui because he seems to have brought up the most valid points in a manner that I can actually read and understand.
First let’s address this “respect” issue you raised. I have never slighted our local Guilty Gear scene. There are members in that community that I consider my friends like Stephen, Gordon, Eric (that rat bastard), Nazir and Phil. I’ve always tried to throw support to Guilty Gear because I feel (as Inkblot once said) “it’s the best game that nobody plays.” I have tried to learn this game (in XX and #R variations) but with no local competition in Brampton and Hamilton, I have no means of knowing I’m getting anywhere. The drive to ORBIT to play one game simply isn’t worth the while. But back to the issue at hand, if you don’t feel that your game gets “respect” whether it’s based on numbers or how the SF community looks at it, then it’s up to your community to do something about it. Taking the approach of “well why don’t you come to us and tell us how great we are” isn’t going to help your situation by any means. If you take a look at the SF scene over the last five years, both CvS2 and MvC2 have gone through their “dying” period and were brought back because the players within the community did something about it. I spearheaded the revival of CvS2 a couple of years ago. It has grown in numbers to the point where it consistently draws 16 - 24 players to singles monthlies and moreso for major tournaments. Nathan (G3nn) went above and beyond in getting the local competition into the tournament scene as ORBIT players were known for watching but never actually doing something about it. That combined with the infusion of York and DTFL talent has revived the Marvel scene. Our directors/prominent players recognized the issue and did something about it. You (the GG community) obviously have the same problem that the Marvel community had. I’ve seen TONS of players playing casual that NEVER enter GG tournaments. Why? Where are your prominent players to coax these on the fence guys into your tournament scene? Hell you want to talk about respect? K2 in his first or second post basically gave up before this whole thing started saying that he didn’t want to put down the big $10 “just to lose.” K2 is supposed to be one of the best GG players in the community and that’s the shit coming out of his mouth? You want to talk to the SF community who travel to the US and are happy just to play and learn about respect when your top 3 player won’t drop ten bucks to play the best US player WHO IS FLYING FROM FLORIDA?! Don’t talk to me about respect from others, your community has it’s own issues to work out.
Now for the latter point, that being Slash itself. It is no secret that ORBIT has had issues as it concerns dealing with the GG series. Local management has a backwards approach concerning this game. For those of you not aware, they have an issue investing in the GG games because the players simply don’t support it on the level of the SF community. Now the catch is that they players don’t support it because (unlike the SF community) GG actually gets regular balancing revisions. Local management can’t (or is unwilling) to make the distinction, and thus we have the problem. An effort has been made by both Stephen and myself to get this board into ORBIT for some time (going all the way back to October of last year, though at the time we didn’t have the financial information we do now to substantiate the purchase). As the present time, we have found a board at a very inexpensive price. We have shown local management the advantage of acquiring the board, the return they would get on their principal (fast money back on the cost of the board) and the drawing power it would have in the long term. There is nothing else we as players (or Stephen and I as directors) can do in this regard. If the GG community feels that strongly about the issue then they should do something about it. Organize and have a talk with ORBIT management. Let them know your current game is behind and that the players need the latest version in order to support the scene in the long run. Management doesn’t care about “we like this game because it’s fun.” They care about “you can make this much if you bring it in now, we’ll give you money.” Make the steps as a community instead of a few voices and you’ll see that changes can be made.
Now for the smaller stuff:
Taping: I don’t know if people realize this but I tape for my own collection purposes. I don’t tape games because I think one is better than the other. I tape the games I like to watch (Marvel) or the games that I can learn from (CvS2). Toronto has the best 3S scene anywhere in Canada but I barely tape it simply because I don’t play the game. Don’t take it as a slight against you if I don’t tape your material. If you want it on tape, do it yourself. I know the GG community has players with camcorders. Again, if you want something done, stop crying about it and do something about it.
Having a voice: I have no problem with the GG community voicing their concerns. What I have a problem with is doing it in open forum in a thread that is designed to hype a tournament. If you had a problem or wanted information then you should have asked Stephen or myself. I have FOUR different IM’s that I use (see the icons below my name) and I answer PM’s regularly as well. The GG community could have even voiced it’s concern in the Toronto thread, where they knew that Stephen and I would see it and it addresses a local problem in a local thread. This issue was brought about in an event specific thread and done so in a horribly negative light. That kind of thoughtless posting is what costs you potential players who were on the fence. Considering the GG scene needs players more than any other 2D fighters, it was in your community’s best interest to voice their malcontents in a more constructive manner.
I think I’ve hit everything that was brought up and then some. I’d like to suggest the GG players move this open forum discussion to Toronto thread if they feel the need to further discuss the matter. It only serves to bring down T7’s potential attendance by continuing to talk about it in here.
