I don’t think its the fact that Bry has to qualify and that its a waste of time. Personally spidertao and others have an issue with his attitude toward the game and the “superiority” over others. Sure Bry may very well be the best which he has proven alot of the time, but it does seem out of line to portray your skills in such an arogant fashion. This kind of attitude kind of puts down other players (locally and travellers), and basically discards their team efforts and individual efforts, since it will be"a waste of time". If SpiderTao or anyone in Canada asked me to qualify for Cvs2, I would have absolutely no problem with that, and I wouldn’t insult the skill levels of others just because Im confident I will place top 5. Hell I wouldn’t mind playing in the qualifiers just to see where I stand with the other good players :annoy:
im the best 3S player in canada
Yea I get it I get it. Once again I’m not trying to defend him here. I’m just saying the only reason I think he should get an auto spot is because if we know for a fact hes gonna make it, then why waste time with all those extra matches? I have a feeling its gonna be more than 5 other people for the marvel 5v5 qualifier. Its gonna take all day long I bet. Thats the only issue I have with the whole thing at this moment. Thats why I wanted option 3 so it was invitational because I didnt think everyone should just be able to hop in there to try to qualify. Round robins take forever. I don’t care if bry plays or not. I’m just saying he doesn’t have to show his skill to be on the 5v5 because we all know hes good enough.
As for the “superiority” over others… well I really don’t know what to say about that one. If that got under someones skin then I guess you have every right to be angry about his attitude. Thats just how Bry is though. He’s a cocky son of a bitch. I guess I’m just use to it :P. JS is still more cocky though…
Jiggabry sucks!
…at dota.
I don’t agree with giving samnang an automatic spot if the rest are going to have to play for spots. Sure I understand why people would want this… but if you’re giving an auto spot to sam over tao, I really don’t agree with this. Just run a straight up qualifier tourney with everybody, including Bry, if you want it to be fair like that.
Also, 15 bucks per head just to qualify. Sorry to sound cheap, but I’m not wasting 15 dollars into a pot that I have 0 chance of getting (since I’m not going to enter the best in canada invitational). To me that’s like paying 15 bucks to play JWong in a serious match, which is retarded in my eyes. Remove the entry fee, make the tourney invitational instead, and lets see who the top 5 in canada are.
Edit: In response to Roger’s post a while back. I completely agree that the team should be you/JS/3 mtl. I have no question in my mind man. But Justin seems to want a TO spot, which imo gives a worse overall team. I’d gladly give my spot (if I win it) to a mtl player as long as they show me they can play roughly the same on those sticks.
Read the damn post properly before you say “Justin seems to want a TO spot, blah blah blah”
Even still, I see it as not giving a chance for 3 mtl players to be on the team. If JJ or Tao are better than the best MTL players, then I guess they deserve it, but my guess is that there is still 3 mtl players that deserve to be on the team over the rest of Canada…
Gerjay; what the fuck are you talking about? West Coast Canada, Toronto and Montreal each have a qualifier. They face off at T7 for the final spot. Where’s the confusion here and where does it discriminate against Montreal?
I have decided to go with option 3 (remember, its $10 entry fee) with a slight change.
50% of the pot will be kept in the game and its winner take all.
EDIT: This is for mvc2 qualis only people
Did you ignore most of Tao’s posts?
He said he did not want an auto spot and he would perfer to fight in the qualis. Also read my last post about Sam’s spot, then read the one right after it.
Oh. wow…
Im sorry, I was under the impression the quali was for serious players who wanted a chance at the 5v5, not a bitchfest about a few bucks. Every quali (cvs2, mvc2, a3, and 3s) has a entrance fee but only mvc2 has a special challenege. I wanted the winner of the Best in Canada Challenge to walk away with more than just the braggin rights. You think dishing out $15 to play JW is stupid? Tell that to the 500+ ppl that go to evo every year and dish out TWICE as much to take him on and only have a 10% chance of actually facing him.
But don’t fret now, I changed the pot to 50%, winner take all. Now, if by some chance you do come out with the most points, you will win just a bit more money than you would entering a regular orbit tourny. If you still think its a waste of money, don’t participate. Im sure spots will be covered.
*Please don’t come back in here saying you’re gonna boycott T7 over a bit of cash and take a large group of players with you. I’ll just laugh.
So its gonna be invitational @_@
Do I get an invite?
of course. You beat js.
Think of the invite as a banner saying enter only you are serious on joining the 5v5.
If you really want a shot at the spot, you are more than welcome to join.
then jason ma should get an invite too
i fully support that.
cause its more fair to the people who isnt listed by nagata
but is this only apply to mvc2?
will this happen to cvs2 as well?
tao: it seems to me like you’re looking for excuses to play bry but are unwilling to actually take action and challenge him yourself. man up and challenge him if you’re unhappy with not playing him enough, dont go around calling him a coward and a bitch just because he wants to save the tourney some time…shit.
shit i truly am the Canadian Jwong
too fucken good
I wanna try out for T5, since there seems to be no way i’m in for 3s LOLOL.
Anyways, i’m open to money matches in 3s. nothing above 5 pls. I’m not made of money LOL.
regarding cvs2:
-the qualifier should be in round robin format. This is ideal for deciding who’s best since the identity of A > B, B > C --> A > C doesn’t always hold for this game.
-The above implies that the qualifier can’t have alot of people in it since RR’s take a while with more people. We can probably add a 2-3 more people max. The number of match-ups in a round robin is (n!)/(n-2!)(2!) And if it’s 2/3, the minimum # of games is that number times 2. With 8 ppl, we have to play at least 56 games which is quite alot. So for the sake of efficiency, we can’t have too many people.
-If alot of people are interested, make ppl challenge ppl on the qualifier roster for a spot to be in the qualifier.
-Since there are 2 open spots and 3 locations, the fairest way to fill the remaining 2 spot is to have the top 2 (from qualifier) from each region (total of 6 ppl) play a semi round robin on the Friday. It’s possible that both top 2 players from a region is better than both top 2 players from another region, so no region(s) should have an automatic spot.
-Lower the entry fee to $10. I’d still show up if it’s 15, but why the hell is the fee higher than the fee for entering T7?
The current set-up is fine for the most part. I didn’t see alot of people making serious complaints about cvs2.
P.S. I bet someone will interpret what I said incorrectly.
Edit: I previously said n*(n-1) which is wrong. It’s not a permutation but a combination. So it’s actually nC2. So 8 ppl = 28 match ups and minimum # of games = 56. Not 112.
I bet you’re in some sort of computer science.
cool i’ll play u for $5 den
