NO i don’t think you should be given an autospot, i don’t care if i think you’ll make it on the team regardless, i am 100% sure i will make it on the team too but i still want to have to qualify to get as many games against you as possible in serious situations.

besides that though, i wanna play bry and JS and roger, and whoever else is on the team. ALL OF THEM. why must i be denied of that? there’s gonna be a best in canada round robin thingy anyway, but this will be like unofficial results beforehand. that way, people can make appropriate money bets

Different situation entirely. The best 3S team is actually based out of Toronto with very few possible exceptions (Archer/Freddy/Veasna/etc…). The marvel teams best players are spread across the country, of which Bryan has only played in limited quantities.
Stephen and I will address this tomorrow.

And yeah… of course I wouldn’t have gone through with that process. I don’t know about you, but when you win a tourney so you can play on a team to represent your country against Empire, you kinda feel like you deserve a spot, y’know? I went into T6 looking forward to playing Empire in the 5v5’s more than anything. Losing the spot on the team definately was the lowpoint of the tourney. Not doing poorly in the Marvel 5v5 agianst them, or losing a stupid game against X that I swore I should have won. It was losing the spot on the 5v5 that I already thought I deserved to be on by winning the qualifier for our region.

Anyways, I’m looking forward to a qualifier, it should be a lot of fun. Its just that I would rather have people coming into the tourney KNOWING they’re going to be representing Canada against empire, instead of starting off the weekend in an uphill fight to… earn the right to play against Empire. I think it puts people in the right state of mind to win.

You pulled this same shit last year where you thought you should be automatic co-captain of the team and then couldnt step up and prove it when it counted. Stop fucking trying get yourself on the team through magic. Learn to stop crumbling under pressure and EARN the spot like everyone should have to. My patience for nonsense like this is getting really thin. It’s no one’s fault but your own that you cant play in a way that makes you deserve a spot.
Maybe you can’t see it, but this whole thread I’m trying to defend OUR spots on the team. I DO NOT want to see a team that doesn’t have both of us on it. I tried to defend that by arguing that JJ shouldn’t have an automatic spot. I don’t think the results will change at all from a qualifier, I just have had bad experience with qualifiers (Since apparently when I win one it means nothing).
I’ll wait for somebody to come in here and clean up this mess before I post again.

I just get really mad when I see you try to ride Bry’s high opinion of you. I’m sure you’ll beat at least one of JJ, Tao or Sam… so why do you have to post something like that? It’s skillless, and unbelievably cowardly. It’s basically saying “I am incapable of earning the spot by winning in a clutch situation, so I need Bry to put me on it.”
Maybe you havent noticed, but I’VE been arguing for a fair chance for EVERYONE. Not just to have me and you on the team. If Roger and JS beat me and you, then they should be on the team. I’m arguing for fairness, not for any particular person(s) to be on the team.
You see, the difference here is that I don’t believe that even if Roger or JS beat either one of us that one day that they deserve to be on the team over us.
Unless they show that they deserve it in the series of tournies leading up to T7, or in casuals, or anything, I don’t like seeing all this come down to that one tourney. I believe that results over the long run show a more correct skill level than the results of a single tourney. Which again is why I think it should be me and you from this region, and if results keep up with the pre-T7 tournies and ECC, I don’t think the results from one day should decide it.
I don’t doubt for a second that I’ll make the team from a qualifier tourney, you guys mistake the meaning in my posts. I fight against the qualifier tourney since I don’t think the best team will necessarily be obtained from a qualifier tourney vs. looking at results over the long run (As in, I think theres a chance that we’ll get an upset in the qualifier that will lead to a misrepresentation for Canadian marvel players). Yes… I know skill level changes, but I also know that in a single day one person could be on fire, but fail when it comes time to play in the 5v5.
Say Poeta plays the qualifier, and repeats his play at the most recent team tourney in every match. That doesn’t mean to me that he deserves to be on the team, because over the long run I haven’t seen the placings to deserve the spot. I know even poeta will probably flame this post… but I hope you understand what I’m saying. I’m using him as an example since… well… he is a player that has the most extremes in his playing. I would feel just as bad seeing anybody that was on the team last year lose their spot to Roger or JS as I would seeing my own spot lost.
Agreed. It doesn’t make sense that Gerjay or g3nn should be on the team if it was evident (after the qualifiers) that they weren’t the best players available.

Good post for the most part. I see why you wanna play him for the 5v5 team. Even if you think hes gonna win you wanna get as much play as possible with good players. I honestly dont see why you should be denied of that when I really think about it…

I’m not gonna flame you for that. I always say I’m the most inconsistant marvel player around. I sometimes play absolutely horrible, sometimes mid and sometimes I beat you guys pretty badly. I wouldn’t want to see someone like myself on the team either regardless of how I did in one little round robin to decide it.
I do, however, think that what you said about JS or Roger is kinda dumb though. See with me its being consistant and thats why someone like me wouldn’t be on the team. With Roger or JS as the prime examples, I think if they did well in the round robin it would show that they got really good. I think JS has a good chance of being really good by then…
