no, it wasn’t your idea…
Stop stealing ideas from Gerjay, the white man gets treated unfairly now-a-days.
I agree with Gerjay in that there should be an ENTIRE venue.
See, this guy gets it.
Well you can do that. But if there is space, PS3, TV…why can’t other game go on that DONT conflict with Super…ie Tekken Soul Cal BlazBlu. Seems it would be only 3-5 people where you would experience conficts.
I guess the rest of the people who pay the venue fee etc are just going to have to wait FOUR hours of doing nothing…
Just a reminder guys, TFNS is open today from 12pm - 12am - All are welcomed to stop by and join in the fun.
come 4 hours later
No one gives a shit about tekken/BB/SC4.
CvS2 on the other hand…
DAMN IT, HDR/ST IS NOT DEAD. TELL THEM PEOPLE…
Ngu…? Fareed…? Dogberry…? … COME ON…
No ST/HDR makes me sad =(
I honestly can’t believe how this went on for 6 pages without it being mentioned at least once.
Soul Calibur 4 over HDR and MVC 2? I just can’t believe that.
I didn’t read gerjays post but I’m gonna go ahead and agree with it.
I’m not giving up hope yet…
If it’s 8 man minimum, then that’s Doable for HDR I guess…
BYOC… that might be a problem… I don’t have a console =(… But for an 8 man… we’d just need 1… right…?
If you care enough about HDR, then bring a set up (including tv) for it and attempt to get the required number of players for it (16 being the min).
Good luck, your going to need it.
Maybe a guaranteed pot will interest people? I dunno, what’s worthwhile for an ST tournament…? I might not be able to afford it…
Even though STHD got the 2nd most attendants at EVO 2009, we’re not California, we’re Toronto. Toronto played/plays 3rd strike. 3rd Strike outdrew ST last year at T10. You have to accept that ST in Toronto is dead, there’s just not enough interest in it, Unless you GGPO monsters want to prove us wrong and show us whatsup.

I’m not gonna lie man, I wanted to mention ST for a long time in this thread, but out of fear from a negative response since very few people are interested to play it let alone pay 10 bucks for entry, I did not bother. However, I love the game and will join it if it is there, but Jed always mentions how hard it was to get people interested so.
I agree with everything that was said here.
As someone who has had experience running registration for a few different tournaments, I concur with the stricter start times and cut off times for registration. It isn’t fair to those who arrived earlier to have to wait for latecomers to be added into the brackets, etc. It also isn’t time efficient.
Dino that is why we stagger the registration times so that players won’t have to wait four hours doing nothing. Decisions should be made based on what will be best for the overall tournament and not just for the benefit of one game.
Will 1 station be enough for a 16-man…? I MIGHT be able to bring 1… (I don’t have a console, and Probably only 1 friend would lend his to me…)
…Damn, I gotta push hard for this…
… and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that T11 will be on days I can attend…
Yeah if you have 16 players 1 tv will get you through them.
Remember in ST life is short and brutal therefore it’ll run quick.
Sorry but I don’t agree with using the WHOLE venue to cater SSFIV for a few hours. There are 8 (count them) setup for SSFIV in T11. That’s basically all the equipment in TFNS dedicated to SSFIV. The main room and all those equipment was already decided for strictly SSFIV. With 8 monitors, SSFIV will also run as quick as possible. The tournament running smoothly depends on the Bracket Organizer and the players. Rules will be strict this time around to make sure minimal delays are taken.
From the looks of it, you guys are saying Tekken and BB:CS cannot run because SSFIV is running. Sorry but i feel that’s being selfish on the SSFIV community’s side. You guys got to understand that this event is not just for SSFIV. The whole goal of having T Tournaments is to have every community in Toronto work together for 1 weekend. Showing off their skills in 1 game while trying to gain more players in the other. SSFIV is no more important than any other games out there that has a community. I do understand that it does generate more players that is why i’m making sure everything is good in this game.
I mentioned before that only atleast 2 players in Tekken and BB:CS play SSFIV. I for one know that none of those players will be even good enough to stall SSFIV tournament. Those games will not hinder SSFIV in anyway so there really is no reason not to run those games at the same time. It would be more of a waste of time if space and equipment is not being used. If anything, SSFIV will just run 2 hours ahead of Tekken and BB:CS just to get the ball rolling.
I like the idea about making sure the start time is followed by every player.
It sucked so bad that we had to wait for certain players last year. Will be part of the strict rule program.
Having pools sounds nice as well. We can have two pools to generate top 8 players. I have to see how to run a pool type tournament if anything. I’m not clear on the subject that much.
Regarding the Side Games:
It’s hard to please everyone really. I follow a lot of rules in life and one of them is “get hated by a few but loved by many”. With that being said, i’m putting a rule that 1 community (Official Game) can decide ONE Side game in T11. Keep in mind that 16 players still needed to run a side game.
These side games will run and i’m almost certain they will not affect SSFIV in anyway.
BlazBlue - GG for sure, maybe 2 peeps play SSFIV
Tekken - SCIV, i know none of them play SSFIV
SF Community, you guys need to decide which ONE Side Game should run in T11:
-3S
-MvC2
-SF:ST
Some of you guys might complain about this but I have to look at other possible issues with the event and figuring out what side game to run is really not one of them. Everyone in the SF Community, please decide what ONE old game you guys want to run in T11.
Like I said, the key to having a successful tournament is organization.
I need to get this Side Game business out of the way so I can concentrate on other things. i.e. Schedule, promotions, rules and equipment.
Regarding the schedule, here’s just a few ideas:
Schedule #1
Friday: SSFIV Teams Only @7p. Delay Grand Finals till Sunday.
Saturday: SSFIV @ 2p , BB:CS and Tekken singles @ 4p
Sunday: SSFIV Teams: Grand Finals and SSFIV top 8 @4p.
Schedule #2
Saturday: SSFIV @ 2p till Top 8, BB:CS and Tekken singles @ 4p.
Sunday: SSFIV Teams @ 2p followed by SSFIV Singles Top 8
Side games are still pending on what day they should run. I need to figure out the best way to run them that will cause little delays to the other games.
Edit: This thread will apparently be closed (don’t know why) but I hopefully bought it until Wednesday. The next few days will be crucial with ideas for T11. If you don’t voice your opinion, everything will be decided for you.
