Decided by the community? only ONE side tourney? Crap, That mean’s there’s no chance for ST=(
There is no reason at all for any canadian tournament to last 3 days… ever.
A 3 day event is a must for out of towners to have a good night party/rest before going into singles. This will also allow more time for organizers to run the tournament smoothly in case of uncontrollable delay caused by equipments, ppl showing up late etc…
Moreover, historically, EVERY T-Tournament has ran a 3 day schedule. I hereby, represent all members of team STC to vote for the 3 day schedule Neo Russel proposed. In addition, we would also like to thank him for proposing a schedule which accomodate vast majority of the players.
For side games, I vote for mvsc2 as the game is reviving in T.O. It’s also the game that attracts most states players.
Time to move on.
Plz make it happen, guys.
Russell: We’re only either doing Singles or Teams for BB/GG right?
Can the community decide whether to run singles or teams or do we have to stick with singles (or whatever u listed)?
I dont see how it would hurt to make bb/gg teams only…its been doing fine so far
on what basis do we decide which game makes the cut? 3S has outdrawn the other two in singles and teams every year since t5 (please correct me if i’m wrong) and has the lowest proportion of players who would join sf4 so it shouldn’t slow it down as much. it’s ridiculous that i even have to mention that but apparently that’s the only criteria anyone cares about. the only problem is that 3S turnout nowadays is generally unpredictable due to the word of mouth nature of the 3S scene and it depends on who’s in toronto instead of hk at the time (not joking). it’s pretty hard to get enough feedback in a short time to justify whether or not 3S should make it so… yeah. just like for any other non-sf4 game, as much i would like to guarantee something, i can’t right now.
Pui: It would be up to you what type of tournament you want to run really. I can’t decide that? Take feedback from your community and get back to me. Teams or Singles?
Here are possibilities you can do:
Friday: Run teams for both BB and GG. Has to be finished by 1a.
Saturday: Run Singles for BB and if there’s time run GG.
or
Friday: Run GG Team
Saturday: Run BB Team
(You can change this to singles if you want.)
or
Run however you want it but just give me details so that I can formulate a schedule.
If you run both, you really only need 1 TV to run them at the same time.
GajinBlaze: I think the SF community should decide by which game YOU guys really want to play. Forget about stats from previous tournaments. Just decide which game YOU want to play. Make your decision and we’ll tally them in a few days. Regardless of what game is chosen, i’m sure there will be competition for them. I’d bet my money on 3S really since that’s still kind of active. MvC2 did have a revival but it’s not like you guys are leaping for joy to play because of it.
NeoRussell
real talk.
Why does Tekken/Soul Calibur and BlazBlue/Guity Gear both get guaranteed side game status but the SF players have to pick 1 side game from an extremely limited list when SSFIV is the actual draw for the tournament?
Nagata: Its to be fair for each community. Rest assured that Tekken and BB will be sharing their space with their side games. The problem we had last year was that we ran every fighting game known to man. I don’t want to run many tournaments when the focus is really the official games. I know you guys want to preserve the games you love and I am giving you the chance to do that. I’m just making the decision easier.
So like I said, to be fair, each community can run 1 side game. The games being passed around in the SF Community was 3S, MvC2 and ST:HD. If you guys want to add CvS2 or any other SF games, feel free to add it in the list but the SF community can only choose 1 side game.
NeoRussell
3s will be at T11 iv gotten to many request to run it so it will be at T11
Dice: Cool. 3S it is then.
NeoRussell
 WHAT THE FUCK?!
lol awesome democratic process.
Nagata: Whoa Whoa, calm down nagata. Did the world just end when 3S got announced for T11? May I ask what did you want to run anyway? Your right, i jumped the gun there but your outburst is unmodlike. If what Dice state is correct then 3S will run. I don’t see a reason for him to lie about it though.
Edit: Didn’t you want to close the thread as soon as possible. I figured if one of the TFNS Tournament Organizer says that he gets many request for 3S when he runs he’s SSFIV tourny, what reason not to believe him.
NeoRussell
Just my thoughts, but I think it should be better to just run SSFIV all in one day, and not run top 8 the next day. That could create major problems (two days of people getting there on time is very unlikely to happen), and it is best to have the finals run the day that everyone is there. For a tourney like this, waiting the next day would lose hype and most people wouldn’t even bother to show up unless they had a very good reason too outside of watching finals they can watch at home.
Yeah as much as I agree with Dice that 3s is great and should be run, I don’t think Dice should speak for the whole community.
rb_999: Good point. Schedule is still being formulated so i’ll take this into consideration. It works either way if you think about it. You can watch it on Stream if you can’t make it the next day.
Edit: Rather than voice your concern on what Dice says, why don’t you guys gather and voice the game YOU guys want to play. We only have till wednesday till Nagata closes this thread.
NeoRussell
What’s “unmodlike” is that I didnt’ close this thread on the very first day.
The date that you left open for debate was locked in based on your decision.
The main games that were apparently open for debate were decided upon from the start.
The side games were decided already and when the players were left with one choice out of a narrow field, ONE PERSON apparently spoke for everyone and you Russell just took it at face value and locked it in. I mean you have one person who says other people want 3S but no one else steps in. But if you look at this thread, more people wanted Marvel and took the time to actually say so. The decision making process isn’t a process at all, it’s just a snap decision at the time and the last few posts validates that point.
This open debate bullshit does NOTHING for ANYONE. In the end the organizer gets the final say (and apparently the venue staff has heavier input than the paying customers). Tournament decision making should be done by the organizer and his/her staff. Sit down with experienced players and/or reps for the scene. This isn’t like back in the day when everyone wanted a specific game and their show or no show is based on it. SUPER IV IS THE DRAW! Iron out a schedule. Iron out which games are going to be played. POST! DONE!
