I should be able to create a final thread by this weekend.

Quoted for truth, Dont’ do cross over consoles. Its a nightmare…

If it were up to me, this tourney would be Super teams and super singles and nothing else… Every other tourney takes away a potential setup that could be used to make SF4 run smoother.

At the very least, you should dedicate the ENTIRE venue to getting into top 8/top 16 for super before starting any other tournaments. Make a schedule that you will stick to. Lets say you set a strict start to SF4 singles at say… 1 pm or something. Dedicate at least 3-4 hours to only SF4 and start up the side tournies after. With the 8 consoles that are always available you should be able to reach top 8/top16 easily in that amount of time with proper directing that makes use of all the setups. Once that is out of the way you should start to run brackets for anything else. This way super will be out of the way ASAP and you shouldn’t get crossover problems from top multi-game players.

It should also make it smoother for TO players who aren’t joining super but are joining the other side games, as they can get to the venue ~4 or 5 pm and have more consoles dedicated to the game of their choice when their tournies eventually start.

Avoiding collision is huge and is historically the biggest waste of time at any T tourney. And since there aren’t 3 main 2D games like there used to be, you guys should look into getting the main draw done as smoothly and quickly as possible.

Edit - Just thought I should add that I think dedicating the venue to SF4 for at least 3-4 hours is the best way to make this tourney run smoothly. One bracket, multiple directors keeping 8 stations running the entire time, this tourney could be finished in almost no time. At US majors with pools, they have a director running each pool on multiple stations, and its important to realize that running 8 stations efficiently requires more than one person on a laptop yelling at people. Get a team of ~3 people to run SF4 on 8 stations and this will be the smoothest T tourney in history. Trust!

Gerjay always speaks the truth… and then turns off the mic when you go to talk…

But really, this is truly the BEST suggestion.

Have a T-Tourney with Just Super…amazing…why bother have a T-anything…

You can devote as many TVs/Consoles as you want to Super. You’re just going to have a hard time convincing people who brought a setup for their own game to give up anything.

Then again everything else will be on PS3/PS2 so really shouldn’t create any problems.

Entire Venue though guys??? Really…thats a little selfish dont you think?

What are you talking about, he was saying if we get rid of the most attending, and slowest game there first, we can run the other games smoother. The older games are quicker than SSF4 and SSF4 is mad slow compared to SF4 which was pretty slow in itself. It was a godlike suggestion and I for one support it.

EDIT: How is it that I understand tournament running dynamics better than you?

TFNS already has something like 8 monitors for ssf4 as it is. Nothing is being jacked from anyone to serve another master.

Maybe you should READ Gerjay’s post again and do a little comprehension this time.

Also, we all know that when it’s a 1pm start time the tournament never starts at 1pm. Directors should be more strict to this as time is limited.

I concur with The Gerjay’s post.

hi Dinoz, meet the second sentence of Gerjay’s post. I don’t think you two have met.

dedicate the whole friday to SSF4!! get that game outta the way!

it would’ve been ideal schedule-wise but i’m sure the out of towners will not be able to make it in on time on friday for singles. best bet is to start Singles ON TIME on saturday and get it out of the way ala Gerjay’s suggestion.

Are you guys planning to run Friday/Saturday?

If anything, you can probably run SSF4 teams, and all the side games Friday, and dedicate the whole day to SSF4 singles on Saturday.

Retarded Trolls…Sucking Ballz as per usual…

Gerjay Says “USE ENTIRE VENUE”

Dino Says - “They already have EIGHT TVs and 360’s…meaning NO NEED to use entire Venue (other Rooms other games?) and other Systems (since everything is on SONY)”

Gerjay Says - “At least get to Top 16 or Top 8 of Super”

Dino Says - “Wait…wasnt this MY IDEA…idiots…”

So to Recap

SUPER WILL NOT BE INTEREFERED BY OTHER GAMES!!! DIFFERENT SYSTEMS DIFFERENT ROOMS!!

The only games you’ll have to worry about Cross-Overs is MVC2 and 3S. Those are the games that should be played later. Games like BB, SC, T6, can play whenever they want IMO.

Noodleman - Stick to…whatever it is you do…

I agree with Rpg, strict starting times. It will garner respect for the event if people realize that the directors won’t put up with any bullshit. You want the $$$? Come on time it’s that simple.

Also, I think Gerjay has a point. Running most of the SUPER bracket first and THEN starting the side games makes more sense and will lead to less bracket conflicts.

I agree on Gerjay’s point of dedicating the entire venue for super.

Though having 8 systems is good enough I guess but then having more systems means more matches being runned at the same time, thus getting us into top8/top16 even quicker then using 8 setups (since we’re using more). We’re not exactly neglecting the other games since we’re just dedicating everything to super first, and once that’s done we can dedicate the venue to the next game.

Or at least, this is what I think is what Gerjay’s suggesting.
