T11 Discussion: Inputs needed

Just make sure this tournament is actually in Toronto (i.e. TFN), and not some far off rural hamlet where the primary industry is steel and the air is filled with the stench of white people and garbage.

ps. Greek and I will run the food. We have 2 bbqs good to go!!

The whole idea of Golden Horseshoe Street Fighter makes me laugh.

The fact that you haven’t come up with new content makes me laugh.

hurry up and tell me a date so i can relay the info to my cousin

She said she might wanna stop by and record some footage for rogers tv or something i dunno dont ask but coverage is coverage…

plus im sure she wants to see the future winning team of T11 aka the team that won first at MAT 7

I agree that new games deserve their time in the spotlight. But when a game can stand the test of time (over 10 years) and still have a strong following, dont ignore that following just because you want 15 TVs on the new game instead of just 12.

Third Strike is still the best 2d fighter.

Windjammers tourney imo

The fact you haven’t improved makes me laugh.

The fact that you live off trolling…

Is actually fairly entertaining!

Bravo Ex_Matt!

I will run this on my laptop if I’m provided a spot for 2 chairs and a table.

Cannot guarantee lagless setup but I don’t think people will be too picky I hope.

This post is kind of important. I realize there are certain newer games that could probably pull even or higher numbers than the likes of 3S/Marvel, but I honestly don’t see those games pulling much comp from outside of the area. Wouldn’t be much difference between T11 and a random local tourney for those games.

IMO do these for sure:
Super
Super Teams
Tekken
BB

And for side games:
Marvel
3S (teams?)
Random

Just my 2 cents.

When we got a venue and games down, I’ll bring a PS3 setup like usual for the event.

Hey guys, thanks for the input.

I personally like making the decisions based on people’s suggestions.
Even though the thread strayed away at times, it’s still giving great input just like I asked for.
Although the decision is still with the Organizers, I feel that the community should have some say cause we are doing it for them.

Right now the date will probably be Sept 4th-5th. After I clear it with Vaughn, the venue will be in TFNS.
All I can say is thank god for this venue cause i likes it. The fact that Vaughn is doing his best to please people is a plus as well.

As for Teams, since I know only maybe 2-3 people play SSFIV, BB and Tekken at the same time (me one of them), I will probably do teams for those 3 games. Nothing is clear yet. I would have to talk to the respective community to see if they want that to happen.

Again, thanks for the input guys. Totally helps when a community gets together and discusses an event that is for them.
Don’t be shy with suggestions. Not everybody may agree with you but voicing it is the best thing you can do.

Blitz: The date should be finalized soon so that would be great if there’s coverage.

Where is TFNS?

Worldjem: Closest intersection would be Lansdowne and Dupont.

Haven’t posted here for a long time =_= Guess i’m posting on behalf of the GG/BB community.

First of all, lets get this “BB community doesn’t like you guys” out of the way. We don’t support monthlies/smaller tourneys because we are more than likely playing the same people for an extra hour of travelling and as experience tells us, some unneeded troubles in collaboration with the SF4 guys.

However, we’ve supported every T tourney there was and we actually fully support ourselves in terms of equipment (thanks to kellfire). With that said, we will continue to attend T tournaments unless you guys seriously decide to not include BB.

Some comments:

BB:CS will be out july 1st (if you import) or july 21st so its good to go.

As someone mentioned before, side games should only be allowed if it draws 16 players and the hosts are willing to bring their own equipments. I think this is the minimum standard for side games to be held.

IMO, its more important to go with games which draws players than going with games which are new. We’re doing a major competitive tournament and this should mean games which are played at a top level should be chosen. Promoting new games and introducing the community to more people should be done in smaller tourneys and whatnot, we don’t have time/resources to deal with that at a major where history shows we never have enough resources. If possible, you can set up 1 or 2 stations of casuals for these new games to promote it, but not a whole tourney dedicated to it for sure.

As for GG, it has been attracting foreign players for the past few T tournies so I don’t see why you’d go with like TVC or whatever instead of that. But whatever, I’m sure we can draw 16 people to make it a side tourney anyway.

Team tourneys are more hype than singles from experience. If i really had to choose, I’d rather ditch singles than teams.

As for what games to include, I’m not really sure whats still played or not on the capcom side, but imo…

SSF4 - duh
TK6BR - it has its own hidden community which i consider to play at a pretty high level…
3S - aren’t we known for having strong 3S players?
BB - we consider ourselves to be at a pretty high level, and we draw.
GG - not sure on this one… but we still play and i think US still plays as well.
MVC2/CVS2 - I heard these games are dead? But i think we have strong players so… if it can draw players i don’t see why not.

If anything, only run singles or teams for the older games (GG/MVC2/CVS2) and both singles and teams (if enough time/resources) for the newer games(BB/SSF4/TK?). Side games shouldn’t have to run both singles and teams imo.

everytime i post on SRK, i write a fucking essay. Theres something with these boards =_=

Pui: Great post. Thanks for your input.

Tell me what you guys think. Our problem really when it comes to tournament like this is DELAYS and TIME CONSTRAINTS.
So i’m always thinking about how we can stop delays and how we can better use the time we are allowed.
With that being said.

If teams do run, it won’t be the same setup as last year.
It will follow SBO rules:

-Double Elimination bracket
-ONLY 1 set, first to 3 match. The team who wins the first 3 matches win that set and advances.
-So basically, 1 person in the team can take out the entire team. You have to be on your “A” game immediately.
-Winner goes to winners bracket and losers have 1 more chance to win or else their out.
-The ONLY time there will be 2 sets is in the Grand Finals.

No more best of 3 sets for a Team tournament. You only get 1 set to prove your good.
This will certainly speed things along.

Only accepting Team Tournaments for SSFIV, BB and Tekken.
Side teams cannot run at the same time as the Official games.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom will be removed from the official games.

Considered Side Single Game Tournament that must meet 16 players:
3S - hopefully its met
MvC2 - hopefully it’s met
CvS2 - probably not
GG - maybe here
TvC - probably not
SCIV - i’m sure they can meet the 16 cap.

Side games will not run the same time with any Official Games.
With the exception of SCIV, and GG (if they meet the cap).

Reason:
SCIV will not ruin SSFIV Singles because no SC player plays SSFIV. (maybe 1 or 2)
Same thing with GG. Once BB is finished GG will run. Not at the same time.
This will prevent people who play other games to stop delays and concentrate on the games they entered.

Somebody mentioned volunteers. This is another great idea and I’ll certainly look into it. I personally agree that people who work on that table should not play any games. They should really concentrate on making sure everything is good with Registration and Brackets. So if you have girlfriends that can help with this, please mention it to me. Players who also ran the tables caused delays last year plus the person we put in charge was so late. I’m not blaming them in anyway so it’s good to get this cleared now.

We’re really getting some good inputs here so again guys, thanks.
Without community participation, i don’t know how we can achieve greatness.

NeoRussell

wow you guys did best of 3 sets for a TEAM tournament last year? no wonder that tournament went to hell…

just a little FYI, GG/BB teams usually does best of 5 for grand finals, best of 3 for winners/losers finals, and 1 set for everything else. But since BB has grown in players, we normally do best of 3 for grand finals and 1 for everything else to speed things up nowadays.

Teams are always only 1 set. i think russel meant no more 2/3 for wf/ls like it was before and make it one set to shorten the time.

On the other hand, if TFNS have a working mic available and will open up rooms in the back for side tournaments i think it’s a big enough place for T11. It’ll save a lot of money for organizers and players too. Renting out a venue as good as theirs in T.O would mean $20+ site fee for players. However, will they be open past 12am during the weekend? cuz there’s no way a T tournament would finish before 12am… and if it does, it’s gonna be too rushed

make it not suck like T10.

aka brackets run on time

Russel myself and Vaughn will be getting a hold of the organizers now that I have time again. Im more worried about equipment myself.

Pui im all for having BB and GG cuz they do draw in the numbers required to hold it down. You have my assurance that I’ll make sure my old ghetty squad gets proper treatment.

Russel can you get back to me with regards to the 3D games that should be on since I know its your turf. T11 is coming get hype !
