T11 Discussion: Inputs needed

Dice: Tekken and SCIV will handle equipments. I’m sure GG and BB will do the same with theirs. Any side games that runs, they will have to have the system to back it up. We can dedicate your monitors and such to SSFIV. We can talk more in a bit.

Regarding Organizers:
SSFIV - RXS and any volunteers
Tekken - Me
SCIV - I’ll find somebody
GG and BB - Pui will take care of that.
Side Games: Up to them, we will just give them space.

NeoRussell

I agree with these.

I have some concerns, however: If a side game were to gather 16 players, when would it be played? How would it fit in with the main games? What’s the schedule right now for the main games (even if it’s just a rough idea)?

we usually have pre-reqs later on for side tournaments to determine if theres enough interest for it to be played. Then a time is scheduled.

However, whether all the pre-reqs actually showed up is another thing. I don’t really recall if the 16man rule was enforced if only like 10 ppl ends up showing. I think this should be enforced this year, have a check that theres actually 16 people that showed up for that game before letting it go ahead… But then the whole “theres 10 of us and we brought our own equipments and theres time set for us, why can’t we go on?” issue comes in…

Russell; have you decided whether side games will have the same $10 registration fee? I think it’s important to keep it uniform across the board. Space is at a commodity. If a side game can’t draw 16 players at $10 a pop, for the biggest local tournament of the year, it’s a pretty telling sign as to whether it needs to be played at all.

Also, can the players have a list of the exact criteria for whether a side game can be played? Will the directors have to bring in TV/Console/Game/2 sticks or controllers before it has any chance to be played? How will the 16 player rule be enforced? Pui’s point about people pre-registering online and then electing to pass in person is a sad reality. Maybe set a 24 player pre-registration floor?

Worldjem: Side games will only run for 1 day. It really shouldn’t take 2 days for it to complete. I’m sure we can run it either friday or saturday. Sunday will just be for finals and what not. I’m also running schedule ideas in my head but have to talk with the owner of TFNS to make it work. Stay tuned for an official thread.

Nagata: $10 registration for any games sounds about right. It is one of the biggest tournaments so hopefully people don’t mind. The Directors will have to be strict with equipment so that the official games do not suffer. This means that “Side Game directors” will have to bring their own TV, systems, sticks and controllers. So if you really want to run a side game, be prepared to bring your own equipment. If the Registration table does not receive $160 from the organizer wanting to run a side tourny, it will not run as well. It sounds strict but if Tekken, SCIV, BB and GG will be bringing their own equipment to run the game they love. So if you really want to run your Side Game, you’d have to dedicate the time and effort to run and bring equipment.

I know Pre-Reg will not work. I’ve seen it fail for the last 4 years now. Oh well, a registration table will be there to help track names.

NeoRussell

24 pre-reg sounds too much for side games like mbaa (which is very possible if sauga comes in full force imo. unfortunately i think a whole 2 people in that community posts lol). a solution for side games may be that or you set a day where ALL side games will be played. People registers at the door for their game and just pray that it happens (perhaps advertise it here beforehand). If it doesnt happen and the host has brought all necessary equipment, a casuals station could be set up (assumign theres enough space)? It sucks to come all the way for a tournament and realize that it won’t happen, but at least you get a chance to play some new competition through casuals right?

i dunno, just some suggestions.

OH btw, one last thing.

MASTER REGISTRATION LIST.

As in only one laptop with the regs on it. You don’t want directors searching through multiple reg lists to see if people paid. That was a pain last year.

Didn’t that happen last year with the master reg list?

BB community is looking into google wave which is pretty much an office collaboration tool. Kinda like google docs but taken to the next level… Maybe you can check it out and have all directors connect to it (provided that theres actually internet at the venue) and collaborate. So if theres a spreadsheet (gotta look into it) you have 1 spreadsheet with all the entrants with what games they’ve entered, maybe even a column thats like “currently playing:”. and a “queue list” Saves directors a lot of time if i can look up this spreadsheet and find the man i need is currently playing sf4 or something, i’ll put BB on the queue list and the SF4 director can tell him to come to the BB station when hes done. Compared to what i’ve done in the past which is run around for 10 minutes to finally find my man who is sitting down at SF4 being blocked by a mob and can’t hear shit…

Especially useful since TFSN is separated in different rooms? Improved director collaboration will help with players that plays multiple games, but it takes a bit more effort on the director’s side.

Be warned… its still in beta and we’re looking into it right now… juts a suggestion.

If not, you can always try google docs and see how that works out, but theres less communication tools. Basically all i’m saying is that directors should have some common place to collaborate without having to run across the building.

Considering this will be probably held the first week of September, I won’t be around. Including the Sauga MB, BB etc crew in plans might be problematic.

Probably in the minority, but I would prefer July 31-Aug 2nd.

I would also prefer it around july 31
If it’s later on around august then i won’t be able to do make it.

Btw who plays SCIV anymore?

I’m trying to see if I can make it. Which I’ll only be able to on the labor day weekend. Before that I’ll still be recouping from Evo losses and out of vacation days to take.

hum… i know someboy or someone who made super awsome padthai :stuck_out_tongue:
i think people call him (master IRON CHEF mao)…need hes number ???

oh crap, no potential kellfire set-up for BB?

Hey. Just want to point out I had no problem with TXI at TFNS, just wanted to address minor concerns.

Super, Tekken, Soul Cal, will all easily be able to get 16 players, and bring our own equipment, we always have. I’m sure the other communities are more than able to as well.

Bigger concern is I think we should STRIVE for as much out of town players as possible. I’m all for helping throw down on Gauranteed pots or prizes in order to increase draw. Montreal, Ottawa, Buffalo, NYC, Michigan, I think should all be represented.

Idea - Run Singles Saturday until Top 8/4/2. The do teams. Than do Top 8/4/Finals on Sunday, as long as that doesnt conflict with anyones schedules.

Venue - Check
Setups - Check (relatively)
Games - Check (SF/T6/SC/BB locked; HDR/MVC2/3S/TvC/etc BYOC status/8-man minimum??)
Comp - Buffalo/NYC/MTL/OTT/etc?!?!? Spread Word
Media - Stream a MUST for main games. VIDS of all Top Player Matches (Crowd in Vid); Commentary/Interviews/Strat talk in between; Vids of the Vide in general
Prize - Games? Sticks? Gifts Cards? Gauranteed Pot? We need something to make things interesting.
Music - I like Music
Food - Catering sounds decent, I just hope we can please everyone…

Didn’t teams last year ran like mad long?

And I know someone who can do the streaming pretty damn well actually. I’ll try to get in touch with him. Anything else I could try to help out?

what a terrible idea. i’m assuming “The do teams” is “Then do teams”

Is super running mixed console? or are organizers trying to get just 1 type of console?

i’im guessing TFNS will be using their xboxes for ssf4, hopefully it’s ONLY xboxes.

I believe Vaughn said he is getting 2 PS3’s for those who play on pad.
I didn’t think people played SSFIV in pad but hey, sticks are not cheap so it’s understandable.
TFNS is a 360 place but there are sticks all around so you won’t be forced to use a 360 controller.

BB and Tekken will be PS3 because organizers will bring their own equipment for that.

NeoRussell

please don’t do that…make one game run on ONE system. There are always clocking/timing issues between the consoles, which is fine as long as you stick with one system. For those who want to play on their ps3 pads find an adapter for the xbox… or find alot of ps3s…
