T-SLG (Toodles Scanline Generator) Authentic retro look from your modern flatscreen

Yep.

Sadly, I dont. I was going to look into getting some laser cut plexi and bolts with a scratch free bottom, but with Evo around the corner, I couldnt even guesstimate when I’ll be able to look into, or if it’ll happen.

Toodles, this may sound silly, but what is EVO?

Maybe get with Art at Tek-Innovations to make a plexiglas case to sell? I haven’t found a good project box for this yet. I’d be willing to thrown down 5-10 for a protective case of some sort.

Getting and cutting/drilling a couple pieces of plexi isnt too hard… now if you want a full enclosure it gets more difficult. Especially this size.

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive pair of powered speakers with either RCA in or a 1/8" aux in? Not striving for amazing audio here.

I was lookin for a full enclosure. Toodles, do you happen to have dimensions of the board itself, and height with / without the rgb adjustment shield?

Could you ask me again after Evo? My calipurs are hiding at the moment.

How about now

Just received my new T-SLG and decided to combine both the scaler and the SLG for one case. I was going to add a top and and bottom to make it unified, but ended up cracking the new top plexi. I decided to just continue to use the old plexi I had made for the Scaler. The new bottom plexi makes for a strong connection by itself so a top section is really not needed. I added four 10mm pcb stand-offs to the T-SLG to secure it to the new bottom plexi.

Just pick up a condom box like speedsterharry did

Where does one get a condom box?

Condom store? I thought they just sold condoms at the pharmacy, but I’ve never seen a box like that.

Guess I’m just not an enthusiast.

No luck on the calipurs, I dont know where they ran off to.
Boise dimensions are 2.500"x2.02"
Corners are rounded off with a 90 degree, 0.2" radius curve.
Mounting holes in each corner are centered 0.2" from each side, and appear to be about 0.14" in diameter.
Centerline for the RGB adjust pots appears to be 1.343" from board edge. on the male VGA jack side. Center one is centered on board, other two are 0.640" to either side from the middle.

@Toodles
First, thanks for your effort on bringing the real retro feel to our brand new heartless TV’s.
Second, I would like to know if you could make public the board layout file for modifying on Eagle or similar. I want to make some changes to the circuit and it would be better to start from your file than start drawing everything. If the answer is yes, thanks a lot. If not, thanks anyways!

Good work.

Toodles,
Does the T-SLG toggle on and off when connected to a console? I want to use it with my SEGA Dreamcast but with the DC, some games look better without scanlines. It would be a drag to have to unplug the T-SLG every time I didn’t want scanlines…

Move the left slider to the middle OFF position, and it’ll be the same as if it wasnt there at all.

I’m sorry, but I can’t do that. If you have recommendations for things you like to see added to the T-SLG, feel free to post them up. Im always looking for ways to improve my stuff.

No problem, just thinking on removing both VGA connectors -to gain space on a project I have- and making a direct connection to the long socket the ebay scaler have.

+1 I got the same idea, this would be very nice for the ebay scaler owners !! Direct connection on the board, just great !

The goal of the project is to keep cost down and keep it as universal as possible designing a new board is costly and can get confusing to people looking for a scanline generator. I could see maybe have the exact same board minus one of the VGA ports so you could hard wire your ebay scaler other than that you should look for a project box or something similar
