Hey just to let anyone know you can pick the CGA/EGA/YUV to VGA High Def converter/Scalier that the famed UK’s Faginrs500 recommends for really cheap on ebay just purchased one from ohio for $20.50 shipped they say its not the best ever but decent

Thanks, just picked one up.

Good deal. Anyone know of a cheapish way to get a US Saturn to plug into one of these?

I am doing the exact same thing I have s-video right now and I think I will still use it for sound and hard wire the rest using Faginrs500 chip its like $6 on ebay I think I’m going to add a rj45 jack on the back of the saturn for plug and play instead of RGB scart since I would have to order the cable and the scart jack from the UK

You might also have to do this simple mode

Do you have a pinout of that 8 pin connector port on these? The one right above the VGA_IN port. It wouldn’t be much to make a board with a female SCART connector, LM chip for the sync lines that connects to that VGA input, RCA and/or phono jacks for the audio, that plus into that connector or the ‘VGA_IN’ connector.
(Course, I’d have to look into the differences between standard SCART and that japanese subset that uses the same funky connector…)

Nice. Thanks! However, I don’t trust my meager electronics skills to not kill my beloved owned-since-the-beginning Saturn. The idea of a RJ45 to RGB intrigues me though, so if you ever offer installation services, I’ll be your first customer.

Is this helpful?

I can let you know when I do mine.
If not you can order the arcadeforge’s Scart to VGA (Sync Strike) comes to about $50 shipped to the states from germany
You can get a scart cable on ebay for about $10 shipped

I’ve looked into those before. It always came back to having to break into my Saturn with a soldering iron though to do the SCART mod. I’d just assume pay someone with skills to do it. It will be cheaper than replacing my Saturn.

Quick question regarding these scaler boards: any thoughts on this ‘new version’? Looks like it’s the same, just lacking the 12 pin VGA out, and gaining a 2nd 15pin VGA. I may just go ahead and buy this one unless there’s a reason not to.

If you notice at the top their PDF it says
NOTICE: Only VGA-2P can have two VGA output AT THE SAME TIME
http://www.moncotech.com/products/vga1p2p/vga1p2p.php
I think the only thing its adds is the second output for another VGA monitor

Same conclusion I came to. I’ll just snag the single output one. Thanks for the tip!

You might want to try this method you dont have to cut anything so its reversible even though there is no real use since component and s-video

hey toodles I also found this pinout for the two version I still confused how it works out

Hey i have a ps3 with 3sOE, do i just need to scanline generator or do i need other stuff too?

you will just need a PS3 VGA cable or VGA adapter to use a scanline generator

where do i buy it>?

ebay or amazon search for either ps2 or ps3 same difference

scanline generator?

3SO has a built in software scanline filter. It is doubtful that any hardware would improve on that.
