Gasp! He’s been a good charcter since ST!!!
generally speaking, he’s one of the WORST characters since ST in terms of tournament viability. your opinion on him nonwithstanding of course. i like hawk too :3
Hawk is good but has no good matchups. you need more mind games to win with hawk. theres really no cut and dry ways of winning. (until you get in of course :badboy:)
Ibuki could be included with that assuming she’s in.
Basically what Experimilk said.
Hawks my 2nd favorite character in HDR, pretty excited for him in SSFIV. Theres just something fun about losing all your health then watching your opponent do something stupid, getting in on him and 10 seconds later hes dead.
In American standings he tends to show pretty low, however in Japanese ST rankings they have O Hawk as rather high on the tier list
Do you have a link to these rankings? I’ve heard that the Japanese consider T. Hawk to be high tier, but I wanted to see it for myself. The only Japanese list I found was this one, but he’s listed at -22. It’s hardly definitive though, seeing as it’s based on the opinions of one player.
O.hawk was listed as A tier on one of the tier lists from Japan. I remember it distinctly. Dunno if Japans trollin us or something. Hes definitely not a-tier despite what some people (who dont play him mind you, just get raped by him) will want to tell you. Hes so easy to keep out in ST but thats probably just cause I know him like the back of my hand. Been maining my boy since i started fighting games. Cant wait for him in SSF4
Also Wicked Element posted this in the Fight Club Impressions thread
What is he talking about? Raging slash is the anti air ultra I thought?

I dunno what he was thinking either, He probably saw the start-up and assumed that was the case.
Tier talk!
giggles girlishly
We’re talking about established tiers in Super Turbo, we’re not guessing at tiers in SSF4.
But I have a feeling you think tiers don’t exist or matter, which means you’re functionally retarded. If I’m reading into your post incorrectly, then I apologize, but I doubt it, considering that you’re infamous for your idiotic posts.
Honestly, hawk is roughly middle tier in ST, slightly above the middle maybe. and smack right in the middle maybe a little lower in HDR. i honestly dislike hdr hawk a lot but i can get use to him. walk up 720 makes up for it in so many ways
i think hes alot easier to use. i learned hawk on HDR so to me ST hawk is alot more difficult to use with the 360 motion.
When I see an official release/guide to a fight-game from its development team, THEN and only then will I subscribe to ‘tiers’.
As it stands, tier-ing is just some arbitrary ranking so called ‘pros’ attribute to characters they believe are better than others predicated upon a few limited aspects of a character’s make up, like (eg.) how easily an Ultra can be combo’d into/landed .
Case in point for the “functionally retarded” nature of tiers: Blanka being above Zangrief, Bison and Shet! …

Why? More often than not, the community will be more knowledgeable about a game than its developers. It’s inarguable that top American and Japanese players are better at SF4 than the people who created the game. According to a Nakky blog update, the developers never thought focus canceling would become so ubiquitous and they weren’t aware some 1 frame links were even possible.
Why is it arbitrary? Why is pro in snide quotations? Why is the rest of your post completely wrong?
A character’s placement on a tier list has a lot to do with how that character performs in tournament. There exist comprehensive charts that track each character’s performance on the internet. It is understood that in tournament level play, you know everything there is to know about the game at that moment in time. Tiers reflects this, and as such, are subject to change as more is discovered.
Are you fucking serious?
That tier list was posted on October 17th, 2008.
And wait, I don’t get it. If you don’t believe in tiers, how can Zangief, Bison and Seth be “better” than Blanka?
Sablicious is not worth your time, Tofu. You’re better off just blocking him and going back to your regularly scheduled programming. As you can see, he can’t be helped.
T.Hawk is my main character since Super Street Fighter II in S.NES and Mega Drive.
In all Street series i’m playing T.Hawk and ofcourse im very happy with his addition into SSFIV.
Some first comments that i want to say for my character.
T.Hawk was always at the bottom in the previous tier lists  except in HD remix which he has upgrades especially with his Condor Dive.
In SSFIV i can’t predict what he is going to be in tier list but i can say that he is not going to be as low as he was in Turbo.
First off all.
(+)
He is going to have probably the same health as Rufus (1150) if not like Giefs.
He has a very safe move (Condor Spire) which he can use it to move forward faster and pressure the opponent with a mix up/mind game.He can probably use it with combos also.i think it will be very handy after a knock down.
Condor Dive is an armour break and from what i have seen up until now maybe he can use it as a cross up also.
If his pokes are pretty much the same as it were in Turbo (like J.lp) then it would be very nice.
I assume that his command throw (Storm Hammer) will be the same frames as Giefs (2 frame grab) .
He is very big character and his stance is like Giefs so moves like Rufus Dive won’t affect him like other characters.
His first Ultra and Super are command throws (720) so they will have the same priority like Gief’s 720’s.
His second Ultra is anti air so when T.Hawk is going to have Ultra meter the opponent is going to be in a “DON’T JUMP” mode.
His has the classic diagonal unique shoryuken which he can use it ofcourse for reversal, anti air, inside combos and when the opponents are going to jump backwards.
So far some things are very good…
some bad stuff
(-)
His shoryuken can’t be canceled with FADC.Only into a Condor Dive. This is good and bad.I think more bad.
His Condor Dive is very unsafe on block and takes punish.(Turbo curse:nono:)
Condor Spire can be focused from the opponent.
His command throw doesn’t have the same damage as Giefs.I dont understand that. Why?
Because of his size many things are going to hurt him and ofcourse most of the combos will have affect on him.Cross ups are going to be pain for T.Hawk i pressume.
His shoryuken like every shoryuken is going to take punish in whiff situations or blocked.
His pokes are good because of their range. But not so good like Giefs because T.Hawk can’t move with his pokes like Gief.
I’m very curious to see his combos.I know for sure that the old combos from Turbo are returning here.
I dont want to say big things and make fast conclusions but if i have to guess T.Hawk will be a solid mid tier character.
I want him better ofcourse because i was born with this character but if he is in the lowest rank in tier list i wouldn’t mind.
Also…
Many people saying that they are going to play T.Hawk.
Most of them are going to change their minds. They think that his similar to Gief but thats is a fantasy.
T.Hawk is more technical character like Gief.Even if he has moves like Dive or shoryuken.
Everybody like me who plays T.Hawk from the oldest titles with O.Hawk etc. in Alpha series all the way to HD Remix they know what im saying.Toutanki and K the T.Hawk legend players and my idols many times prove that, and their not the only players.
