T.Hawk Video Thread

nice found man.^^

I’m wondering why he stopped using the cr.mk after the success he had with it. Damn, Hawk’s pokes look crazy good. I like his dive in this game; it looks more like a tool to get in than a move to hit since it the recovery looks rather fast on whiff. He looks solid all around, just like Dee Jay! Can’t wait!

It’s pretty the same like Turbo. So generally is a good move but it has some basic weaknesses.
Condor Spire is his best choice now to close the gap between him and opponent.
It’s by far more safe and leaves T.Hawk for a trap/mix up game.

It whiffs a lot more in this game. It looks like the hit box isn’t as fat like in ST is what I am saying.

WorstGiefEVER (Zangief) vs Carpet (T.Hawk) - Super SF4 preview London

Not too fierce-gameplay.

Well, at least the Gief player is living up to his name.

The Keystone II stream yesterday had a few pretty good T.Hawk matches. Some of them even showed some interesting things. I’ll name the things I found most notable, though there was only a few things that caught my eye. The stream’s link is as follows: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/6088296. I don’t know how to link to particular points in the stream, so I’ll just list the points and time that the T.Hawk matches begin:

32:55(T.Hawk vs Ibuki)

Nothing really caught my eye, but the announcers go crazy about his pokes and damage output('course, Hawk’s against a glass cannon).

41:48(T.Hawk vs Hakan)

This was the match that had the most notable occurrences, in my opinion. Most of them pertain to the T.Hawk/Hakan matchup, which I’d say is in T.Hawk’s favor…but I’ll say it’ll be a 5/5 matchup in the end. One, is that Oil Slide goes right under Condor Spire, causing both characters to whiff(though, it only seems to work under certain circumstances). Two(although, it’s probably obvious), is that a really meaty Condor Dive still loses out to Hakan’s Ultra II. Three, is that Condor Dive gets stuffed by Hakan’s Oil Slide at around 44:28. Four, is that Condor Dive crosses up(though, that was probably common knowledge).

49:30(T.Hawk vs Cody)

Nothing caught my eye. Cody might be a bothersome matchup for T.Hawk.

57:07 (T.Hawk vs Cody)

Cody’s uh…Hooligan Kick?(the anti-air version) seems to stuff Condor Dive.

1:00:10(T.Hawk vs Dee Jay)

Nothing caught my eye. If anything, Seth Killian was playing T.Hawk.

1:18:10(Juri vs T.Hawk)

Even though we all probably know this, Juri is shaping up to be one of T.Hawk’s worst matchups. I wouldn’t say it’s Zangief/Sagat bad, but it does look to be in Juri’s favor for the most part. 7-3 matchup at worst, 6-4 at best.

I don’t really see anything worth noting in the HawkvsJuri Vid either…all that video showed us was that the Hawk player had no idea what to do against Juri. He never once tried to AA her jump-ins at all and he misses a whole bunch of opportunities to pressure her. I think its wayyy to early to call that match in anyone’s favor.

Hawks Alt.

:looney:

Hakan will not be a 5-5 for T-hawk. So what if Hakan has answers to Condor Dive. Why are you Diving against Hakan? He has no Projectiles or zoning tools. He has 100 less HP and your normals do more damage. If you block slide you command grab for free.

Nice vids. I plan to main T.Hawk too but I’m hoping he’s not top or to high. I don’t enjoy playing characters that are overused and/or top tier. x.x

Love his entrance into the battle

Oh does anyone know if he can cancel his DP move like the shoto’s can after a hit? (even on block)

I never understood the “WAHH I HOPE MY CHARACTER ISN’T GOOD” mentality.

Must be a Smash thing. I’m kidding bro, I know where you’re coming from. And no, he can’t FADC his DP, but he can make it safe by following up his EX DP with an EX Condor Dive. You can only EX Condor Dive after an EX DP, you can’t make it out come out on its own.

This channel is chock full of T. Hawk videos from a London exhibition, search for Hawk or the player “Carpet.”

In this you can see “Carpet” (El Carpeto I assume) juggle antiair spire into dragon punch. I was hoping this would work.

Edit:

shows that T. Hawk can cancel into his Hawk Dive off jumping attacks in the same way Viper can with her Burning Kicks. :looney: He does j. jab xx Hawk Dive, but the Hawk Dive whiffs because the j. jab reset his opponent. I would imagine j. fierce or j. RH would actually combo though. Something worth testing to be sure, the potential for mix ups here is good I would say.

And for those of you interested,

Kind of illegible though, even at 720p quality.

Hm ok, Ithis was gonna be one of the first things I wanna test. Unfortunately it might not mean more than you see. In ST, Hawk could actually do a jump attack and a dive in the same jump as long as it was a jab on the way up… and that was it. That’s not very useful, so as a result you pretty much never saw Hawk do it. I was really hoping that this video would show something else, a jab on the way down or some other normal entirely, but nope… jab on the way up. So this doesn’t necessarily mean that Hawk can do any air normal any time into hawk dive. Hope it does obviously, but it might not.

Edit: Just talked with someone who knows. Hawk can only cancel his jumping jab to condor dive on hit or block, but he can do it at any point in his jump.

This is awesome. This means you can do an air-to-air j. jab then cancel into Hawk Dive to recover on the ground well before your opponent does. Pardon the theory fighter, but from there you can most likely go for a dash under cross up for some crazy mix ups. Condor Spire might be good for this purpose too, depends on which one comes out faster and recovers more quickly. This mix up will be particularly strong against characters with floaty jumps like Sim and Chun.

Not a fan of Hawk’s alt costume… hmm.

Jab SPD - 150 damage (ugh.)
Strong SPD - 200 damage
Fierce SPD - 230 damage (less than Gief’s fierce SPD in vanilla SF4 by 10 points. The range on Hawk’s SPD is way better though).
