T.Hawk Video Thread

Thanks for the advice.

More lockdown for T Hawk vs Bison/Sim. This setup seems to ruin their teleport game for a start, which is a big help.

I don’t understand how you’re making the teleports screw up. Is it just because of how late you’re doing the splash? 99% of the time if I get lp 360 and then go for a cross up splash they use far teleport. If I see them doing that I just use dive (same with Akuma) and hit them across the screen.

Here’s a treat for you guys! I argued with them that the matchup is truly 9-1 but they didn’t think so. For them it may not be but for 90% of the general playing population it is.

On the teleport bit, it does not seem to mess with Seth or Akumas - I have not figured out why - maybe start up frames or something, plus they have invincible DP’s that auto correct making them not really worth crossing up. The idea came to me after a set vs a Bison who said his teleport was not coming out right. One thing to bear in mind is the timing is fairly strict - not stupidly so though.

I imagine taking any games of FC is hard but with Hawk really tough. I think a few things I have found of late for that match that help are:

Don’t EX Spire from full screen - Sims pokes are too good on reaction to just hurt you and you end up wasting a bar.
Jump from full screen and put out splash at the top of your jump - beats or trades with lots of sims stuff. Jump lp is also very good - lots of active frames.
If the Sim likes hp at full screen as a poke, c.lk is an excellent counter poke and c.hp gets the job done well enough too.
I have found EX Spire from mid screen is really good - it stuffs loads of sims pokes, gives you a knockdown and allows you in - problem is getting enough meter - maybe lp spire in AE will do the trick.
I prefer U1. I know Sim has a floaty jump but he is normally miles away. Maybe U2 for grabbing Limbs in the air?
Jump HK at max range seems to do a good job of beating sims anti airs if they are so much as mistimed by a milisecond (kness and back mp).
Risky, but empty jumping him from mid screen is also handy as it makes his close anti airs whiff > grab.

This stuff is probably best in the match up thread, but given the video, just my thoughts on that match. 7-3 Sim imo.

t.hawk two step for the win! In addition to what tamana said, the “instant dive” murders sim’s st.hp. It was interesting to see hungbee so reticent to punish yoga flame with condor dive. It was nice to see nj.mp and nj.hp beat sim’s air-to-airs.

what a shit matchup

This guile decides to taunt and pays for it lol

Theres some nail biting stuff in here.

I’d say about 75% of all T. Hawk videos are of him losing.

Ive been playing a bit more THawk lately heres a vid of me vs a pretty good Ibuki and Entertaining to boot.

You should watch the 2nd video I made, give you a run for your money on 75%

They should give Hawk a little red hat, a plumbers outfit and a cute little dino to ride on if this is how to play him.

I liked the strings and aggression but 3/4 attacks started witha jump!

if there was a “so funny i almost spit out my breakfast” button I would totally hit it for you, tamana. mostly the image of gigantic t.hawk riding stupid tiny yoshi made me break out laughing.

I hate how guile is broken on this game… lol you never seen people playing him in vanilla because he suck, now you see a lot of guiles in ssf4 because is broken what a joke… look at his damage of his normal and flashkick, the ex gain meter and his fucking air throw… its ridiculous, his broken like sagat in vanilla and people dont say a thing about him…

Guile is pretty damn good, but he’s far from broken. Any character that can zone well should be able to stand up to him. Yes, T. Hawk is at a disadvantage since he has a hard enough time getting inside as it is. That being said, treating Guile how you treat most zoning characters is how you do it. Take your sweet time walking toward him, back him into the corner, and punish his attempts to get away. All you need to do is get a small life lead, and let him work to get it back. The same idea should be used against most other zoners. At least he’s not like Akuma or Dhalsim, who will teleport the moment you try to get offensive. And if I wanted to play as a zoner (which I do at times), I’d take Akuma or Sim over Guile, easily. Hell, I’d take Sagat and Ryu first, too.

I watched some footage of him in AE and his okay now, his flashkick is nerfed and his normals are weak, the matchup now is more viable

Ex dive going through fireballs should help too.

no reason to complain about flashkick since it’s a terrible reversal anyway. you can beat it with splash and even the damn shoulder move. it’s a godsend when guiles attempt to repeatedly flashkick. free punishes everywhere.

Doesn’t look like he knew the Rufus matchup that well. You can s.rh that c.hp.
