That’s a fascinating discovery. I’d tried the partitioning technique before to see if it was there but I’m not sharp enough to tell if I was doing it correctly.
Anyway, I’ve never seen this mentioned anywhere so here is an incredible new game-breaking tactic that effectively makes Hawk top-tier: J.LP (so it hits them as you are still rising), immediately cancelled into Dive. Works on everybody if they are standing if I remember correctly.
Just kidding. It does work, but it’s very difficult to apply to any degree of real worth in a match. Have fun trying though!
I’ve seen it, I’ve done it, just to try if I could do it too, but I hardly see any use for it. Rising j.jab is a move that’ll you’ll hardly ever connect and getting the dive to actually come out right after is just as rare.
Far standing strong whiff, built in 720,** walk forward Super**. Followed by a jumping fierce as a tick into a walk forward 360. VIPER is incredible and has taken N.Hawk to a new level. He’s doing walk forward command throws and kara throws like they are nothing. He’s probably elevated himself to best N.Hawk player of all time. Better than Mayako, K, and Toutanki in my opinion.
Even is, while simple, pretty great. VIPER does three jump setups into command throw but he mixes up the number of ticks each time. The first time is two, second time is one, third time is three. His opponent fails to reversal headbutt the last two times against the command throw because he fails to guess when VIPER is going for the command throw. Not that his opponent really had much of a chance to escape after being knocked down anyways though without a full Super meter.
Below is a walking 720 built off of a whiff followed by a walking 360 built off of a jumping attack.

This is a kara 720 where the motion is built into a whiffed moving jab and then the 720 is kara canceled from a second walking jab. Extremely difficult to use.

Here are a bunch of ways to build 720 motions into various attacks. Some are more useful than others but they are all interesting.

Another walking 720 setup for Hawk.

Zangief doing a very long walking 720.

Zangief baiting dragon punches and punishing them with 720s. Doubt you’ll ever see these used in real matches.

And just to show that walking 720s aren’t the only walking SUPER trick. Here’s Taira using a walking SUPER with Dictator a few times.

And lastly just for laughs, Zangief’s vacuum SUPER.

Many thank you´s to NeoRay for taking the time to make this tutorial for me.
The loop is to be used especialy vs Shotos, Chun, Sim, and Dict. Not sure if I’m forgetting any others.
This morning at Game Versus there was a 3v3 tournament and Shin Hawk was doing all sorts of insane 720 tricks to the delight of everyone watching. The announcer kept saying “kakkoi” which means stylish or cool whenever Shin landed a 720 (which was quite often). At one point Hiroyan was fooling around against the CPU and did a ton of standing empty 360s in a row as if it was nothing (27:40).
I searched from Hyrule to Oz for this info lol. Took me months to find. Señor NeoRay is actually a cool dude. Just talk to him and you’ll see for yourself. He made the vid in about 8 minutes lol. his actual words are; “It is happy to see interests in T.Hawk” lol.
So anyways, I was asked to break down the inputs since it’s a little dificult to see in the video. From P.1 side :
Neutral far :lp: > hold down :3p: > :u::ub::hcf: > walk > release :hp:…:mp:…:lp: > roll quickly :r::df::d::db:
This is VERY dificult to do. On top of that, after LOTS of hours of practice, my uncredible conclusion is that it really feels like the timing is diffrent depending on how far you stand away from the downed opponent when you hit jab. It seems to be a lot easier once the first tick is done and you hit jab when they are getting up in the corner and the most dificult seems to be from far far away.
I’m sure there is something wrong stated here and I expect a certain someone to pop in sometime soon with a list of corrections. Hopefully between everyone trying and commenting on tips of how they’ve had success we can start implementing this tecnique in or play.
Man, and I’ve only just recently come up with the right timing to land a 360 from j.jab…
I was also practicing 720 from f.jab which I managed to do consistently in training, but have yet to land in an actual match, damnit.
(EDIT: Actually, I have, but it was by accident. My scrubby friend whiffed a full screen super with Sagat -don’t ask me why- so I walked up and wanted to tick 360 him on his landing and got the super in stead. But it was accidental, so it doesn’t count.)
Wow, that vid is extremely helpful. I just did it like twice in a row based on the tutorial. I realize that isn’t really the loop in a real fight, but just being able to see that I can do it based on the vid feels really awesome. Walking 360 lol, thank you so much for that.
Wtf?! You have THAT much time to release the buttons?! Do you have to keep your last direction down in order to do that or something? It felt like he took a full second to walk forward at one point and just released the buttons to get a 360.
EDIT: Or wait, does he just spin the stick really damn fast at the last second? Kinda hard to watch two screens at once.
edit Anyone interested in a live Q+A mini show about Hawk and comparing them and their different playstyles. I can also answer specific character matchups if anyone is interested.
Neoray is a cheater. He has macro hax installed in his stick. I don’t see no 360 motion in the 2nd vid.
And djfrijoles produces none of these content by himself and steals all the ad revenue from these ggpo players. I need to write a blog post to expose him.
