You can do it from any FA stun, you have to delay the input on small characters, but it does work.

Just play a few Giefs and you’ll have your answers. I played against possibly swedens best Gief* in a few matches, with my scrubby Hawk, and he lost so much that he started to counterpick. Though I remember his sweep being a decent counterpoke.
*Not incinuating that he’s some sort of hotshot on an international level, just that he really should have confidence in his character.

My close friend Onions mains t hawk and for the longest time it seemed like his time spent with him was nearly all uphill and full of frustration. Although in AE much of what gave him trouble is still around it’s nice to see all of you talking about how he’s so much better.
As soon as I landed that ultra 2 off a crumple from the suggestion of a friend, I knew T hawk’s reputation was bound to improve.
All in all, good shit guys, I’m glad to hear you all having something good to share about his changes. Although his buffs aren’t ALL!!! what we all hoped, they are ***good ***none the less. Furthermore, word on the street they’re planning to revamp Street fighter AGAIN!!! after evo…
and this time around… who knows? maybe they’ll change that condor spire input, then we’ll REALLY have something to celebrate about!
The CSpire input isn’t that big a deal. The garbage DP is probably the worst drawback. The U2 input is difficult to do on reaction. If it used KKK the motion could be changed easily to double fireball motion with no conflicts.

Im actually going to give my personal opinions about his changes lemme find it online somewhere…
Normal Moves
• Close Standing Hard Kick’s recovery time reduced, and changed frame advantage to be +4 on hit.
**BUFF- This was a subtle change but it makes sense if you use close roundhouse. Most characters could punish this move on hit.

• Far Standing Hard Kick’s hitstun and blockstun were increased, making it harder to punish.
BUFF- A good majority of the cast could punish this on hit and block which personally drove me nuts
• Neutral Jumping Hard Kick has slightly more active frames.
BUFF- You can now use this for corner pressure you can now use Neutral jump Feirce or Roundhouse in corner pressure. I am not used to using this normal yet but I can see its potential.
Special Moves
• EX Condor Dive can be used by itself now, by pressing all three Kick buttons. It’s different from the regular version, as you can do it while jumping backwards as well, and it’s invincible to projectiles until its active frames end.
BUFF- Its still highly punishable on hit from most of the cast but it creates a lot of mind games and gives you an out in situations where you would land right on a fireball. Also has a glitch where it resets Thawk if you space it right making it REALLY hard to react to.
• Light Punch Condor Spire’s hitbox was extended forward.
NERF- This move is honestly his best move. The reason why this is a nerf is because you can’t do light spire frame traps. This move is highly punishable on hit and block. On the positive side it makes Light spire very ambigous making you opponant question if it would hit them or not HOWEVER, it is now puniahble to a majority of the Ultras it used to be able to bait. Ultra that come in mind are Roses Ultra 1, Balrogs Ultra 1 AND headbutt, Abels Ultra 1, Kens Ultra 1, Hondas Ultra 1,. Those are ultras that come into mind that now punish Headbutt where in super you would land directly in from of them and it would whiff. You now have to reajust spacing memory just so that its gimmicky again, which I find annoying.
• Condor Spire’s meter gain upon activation was increased.
BUFF- A big part in my game is using Spire for frame traps to create OKI situations. Its now possible to have 2 Supers per match which was nearly impossible in SSF4
Super
• Increased his Super’s grab range to be the same as his Light Punch Mexican Typhoon. Was previously 1.35 range and is now 1.5.
**BUFF- It now punishes normal whiffs it used to not be able to. **
Ultra 2
• Ultra 2 has a faster startup time, and its invincibility window was lengthened and it remains active longer, making it very easy to use as an anti air attack.
BUFF- Enough said
it shouldn’t be that much of a “nerf”. It’s only -7 on block IF it is blocked on the first active frame. If it’s spaced well and is blocked on the last 2 frames it would actually be at frame advantage or neutral. If you are talking about people punishing on reaction then that hasn’t changed. But on block Balrog is not punishing with U1 or Super or Headbutt. I don’t know the others I’d have to look it up.
It should also trade less often with Blanka Ball and Honda headbutts. And other random moves. In a pseudo block string ending in LP CS I can see it more than likely being the full -7 maybe -5 at best. DPs can still punish it hard like always.
Got another piece of good news: U2 input leniency has been increased. You can now do it by half circle then F DF D DB. Before it was half circle then F DF D DB B (you had to complete the full half circle motion twice) but now it’s lenient on the DB. If you do it too slow, DP or spire (forgot) come out, so just do it in TURBO time. LOL
There’s also the common shortcut of half circle then DF B which I guess is shorter, but this is a positive still.
L3 FA > U2 is timing dependant on the character. For example Dictator you have to do later than some of the others. I’m trying to go through the character list. All of the characters on the top row are the same or like 1F so far.
OMG I hate Rose, Seth, Blanka, Abel, Viper. Playing online makes me infuriated. I just got owned for an entire roujnd by option select Blanka cross up kick/sweep. How do you deal with that when there’s like half second lag? Sorry just complaining.
So how in the hell am I screwing it up now more than ever? >_<
I’m also fucking up u2 motion more since AE. Really sucks when you correctly react to a jump and you get an ex tomahawk instead.

Should probably be following BP and Hungbee. I think the only two Hawks I’m currently following are smokemonster and, our very own, Joe Lewis…whom was near the top of T. Hawk BP list when I decided to follow a few people.
Haven’t got to play in a couple days, though (not that it hurts too much. Feels like T. Hawk does the same T. Hawk thing in the same T. Hawk way :D)
MrKaratey on PSN. Dude is a local who doens’t know much about the community but goes to random tournaments and kills people in games he doesn’t play. His Hawk is ridiculous. I think he’d give Hungbee a run for his money. He’s a friend of a friend so I might be able to get him out to an event sometime.
You have to see this guy in action. it’s silly.
BTW I’m done w/ Hawk. Watching Hung today at Revelations work his ass off vs a Chun only to lose by 1 pixel of health was a sign. I lost both my matches to Bison and Yun. Hawk in tournament is pointless. Off to one of the top tier characters I go!

I’m starting to think that the only top-tier character I could use is Zangief. The more I play around with the rushdown types, the more I realize I love grappling. (I could probably get by with Sagat, too).
Someone pointed out to me that it’s better to just pick a new main and practice Hawk as an alt and only master specific matchups like Gief and Yun for counterpicking. If you guys watched the Revelations stream yesterday Mago’s Fei long was amazing and seeing Daigo’s Yun for the first time got everyone on edge. SF stream starts later today so that shouold be fun.
