No, but LP DP is 4f now, might make it a better AA.
LP.DP has no invincibility and in distances where CL.MP is used as a AA LP.DP whiffs. Hawk needs a lot more work.
You also have LK Spire. Before spire wasn’t a option for (intentional) AA, but now it might be fast enough. And it’s not like you risk much by just throwing it out either.
LK spire is going to start up in 11 frames why use that over HP.DP?
Because if you guess wrong with HP DP, you’re eating a full punish.
So as a AA you rather use 11 frame spire instead of a 8 frame DP with more invincibility…
If you have time to visually confirm it, then yes, HP DP, but if you’re not sure he’ll jump, then you do LK Spire. If they somehow manage to jump over it, then you can probably tag them from behind with cl.MP or b.LP.

I would bet that lp spire is gonna get nerfed eventually. People are already complaining about it and I think it’s inevitable sadly.

A grappler being anywhere near top tier will cause a ruckus. And you know Capcom can have none of that.
Looks like the new spire is staying, hurrah! Nice to have a safe tool for getting us in without meter. Cr mk is golden as well.
I’m saddened by the damage nerf to ex spire but it is fair. Going to miss 300 dmg off an anti air spire.
My only other concern was that we cannot combo into red focus from what I’ve seen so far. The red focus itself however will probably prove valuable vs shotos.
Based on what we’re getting, I can definitely live with less EX Spire damage and more vulnerable far s.HK.
Been considering the potential of the Cl.mp buff and it is pleasing.
Currently in ver2012 I use st.lp, cl.mp xx lp tomahawk on an opponent’s wake up. On some characters I could substitute mp tomahawk, so now hope these situations in Ultra mean I can use a stronger Dp.
Likewise cl.mp, cl.mp should hopefully be easier and universal.
Now a scarier application might be cl.mp to cl.mk. So far we can nail Juri with this combo when we are close enough, depending on the buff maybe this will work on more characters?
Either way cl.mp is wonderful indirect buff to Hawk’s damage.
In relation to the Spire buff, Kim1234 already confirmed max distance jab combos light spire, so st.hp, st.lp xx light spire for 266? Can’t wait to see what else is possible.
Snuck in 3 hours in ranked, among them I played 26 games with Hawk, losing only 9. New spire and range on SPD was doing it for me but other buffs made a difference. Even the 4 frame Tomahawk vs neutral jumps.
Hawk feels really good. The spire motion takes some getting used to though, am so used to backwards dp it’s gonna take a while for it to become second nature. Wasn’t thrust peak supposed to be changed? It seems exactly the same as before.
It was changed but reverted after feedback.
I think U2 auto corrects. Also you can’t do the jumping splash to mp to HP buster.
