SVC Chaos

Hi everyone I decided to make a new SVC thread given that the other ones have long since expired in popularity. It seemed pointless to try to and bring attention to those ones so I thought it was only logical to make a new one.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss SVC and to arrange fights on Fightcade. If you don’t like the game plz avoid derailing discussion with negativity. Alright with that said lets get on with this.

I honestly don’t understand why SVC doesn’t have hops. That would have been a perfect opportunity to see how SF character would work in KOF.

I don’t like hops personally.

I dunno the charm of SVC for me is that it’s basically a SF game. Just now I was playing the number 1 ranked player online in SVC, and while it was like 5-1 him the matches were close and a few times I would have won had I not messed up my inputs. The thing I loved about our matches though is that it felt like I was playing SF, it’s a game I can understand and play.

You haven’t played the “real” SvC Chaos if you think it’s anything at all like Street Fighter.

I could only find SVC:Chaos Plus on fightcade if that’s what you mean.

No, what I mean is this dude thinks SvC Chaos is like Street Fighter, and he thinks by playing it with some “#1 Ranked” jabroni online and able to hold up against him means he’s a good player and thinks he understands the game, when he hasn’t experienced what kind of game SvC Chaos actually is.

I think I’ll clearity what I mean.

It’s SF in the sense that the mobility options and basic meta game resemble the spacing/neutrel game of a SF game. However I do acknowledge the game is broken and a lot of those elements will go away at the very highest level. I’ve played some really strong players who uses top tier character and yeah I can see why the game gets the hate it does. The thing is that in spite of those flaws I still enjoy the game and keep in mind I’ve fought good zero players using vega so I know the BS this game is capable of.

There’s an FB group for Svcc matchmaking and watching vids https://mbasic.facebook.com/groups/1382033772035774?r

The mobility, spacing and neutral game in SvC Chaos is nothing like a SF game. It’s more like a stripped down KOF, with extremely shitty throws, and nearly endless amounts of power meter. Also because of mechanics like Guard Cancel Front Step, just about anything becomes punishable on block.

Thanks for that FB link I’ll check it out.

I don’t really want to spend too much time acting like some apologetic since I would hate for this thread to be nothing but arguments, so I’ll make my point and if you disagree that’s fine.

I suppose we have to define exactly what we consider a SF game to be. For me personally I consider SF games or the "SF"experience to be defined by limited mobility and linear approaches. In SVC you can only jump, high jump and dash. This might seem like a superficial comparison but generally speaking that’s how SF games tend to play in terms of movement and spacing. I think most people generally mean "ST"when they think about what a SF game is suppose to play like so when I use that metric I consider SVC a SF-ish"game. In fact I would consider it more of a SF game then most of the SF games. In the alpha games, air blocking, alpha counters and custom combos basically changed the entire meta game from what it was in ST. In SF3, parrying alone changes everything and the SF4 series is self explanatory.

I wouldn’t argue it’s a pure SF game and yes I’ll happily concede to its faults. However I don’t think it’s reasonable to say it plays like a SF game.

Although I’ve known about this game for years, I never got around on playing it personally. Well, since I have nothing else to do at the moment, I may give the game a shot and see where it’ll take me from there.

It’s an aquired taste. It’s not a good game by any means since clearly everything from the presentation to general game feel was rushed. In saying that it’s more of a guilty pleasure. I think it’s quite fun in spite of its flaws. The Fightcade community isn’t too big for it so if you ever want work games let me know.

This game and KOF2003 were the last games in my arcade, just before my arcade died.

When played very seriously, gameplay in this game was brutal, and similar to what Running Wild said; SVC Chaos is nothing like Street Fighter. In this game, no one does normals or spacing / zoning unless they know their move isn’t GCFable. GCFS took so little meter, it was laughable not to do it. At a level where GCFS wasn’t used, lots of characters looked viable and unstoppable. One time, one of the players in my arcade, fresh off a 20+ game winning streak with Geese (I was one of his victims), got up from his chair and randomly told everyone that he felt very dirty after killing everyone Geese. He had a look of regret. It was funny.

Brutal, brutal barbaric game. Fun for a few fights, but brutal nonetheless.

Hi everyone, i just came here to give you my support guys !! i really like SVC over CVS games but however the game has no popularity and that’s sad.

Truth be told, I enjoy playing any kind of fighting game, no matter how flawed it may be (I do want to learn HnK competitively someday). And sure thing, I’m looking forward on getting some games in with you very soon.

If anyone ever wants to play on fightcade just let me know. I still enjoy playing the game from time to time.

Who is that number 1 ranked player you speak of? There is only a couple of players in Fightcade SvC that are proficient in the game.
SvC is one of the games on Fightcade with the lowest level of skill relative to other Fightcade rooms.

Personally I think the game is fun but some characters are stupid and the mechanics are too abusable if you have basic fighting game fundamentals. Although the abusable mechanics can bring up to more metagame which is where the real fun is, but I have only played one player on fightcade who knows how to play to that level.

If you want to get into SvC, make sure you truly ENJOY the game, because there are many other fighters out there that are more beneficial to the development of a fighting game player than SvC.

I loved my time playing SvC though , but that was mostly because Goenitz is in it, and because Genjuros voice actor in SvC deserves an award.

I’m down for games.

Lately I’ve been using Hugo and vega a bit better. Vega didn’t seem too bad initially but damn he gets beat by the mechanics so badly lol.

The number 1 player I thought is a dude named Artur. He’s pretty solid and he used kyo against me.

Yes Artur is one of the tops on Fightcade, he plays the game ALOT, I’d go as far as saying he loves the game a little too much. His Geese is very strong but he can play others to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f2Gm6Fyees

Man those couple months I played the game I was soo into it, but just like all other fighters I ever got into on Fightcade, their season came and passed and the interest just died like a leaf passed it’s season.

Redpaku4 is the best though, Age comes close but redpaku4 is Top.

Find redpaku “redpacman” and play him, tell him I sent you.

Awesome I’ll check him out.

I was curious about something. The hitboxes seem really strange in this game, is it true the moves were not properly programmed.
