I’m under the impression that Lucifer isn’t even free to roam hell. If he was, I don’t think other demons would regard him as a fairy tale.
Another great episode, anyway. I’ve been waiting for Ruby to turn since shortly after she was introduced. Now, she’s walking Sam down the very path Castiel is so concerned about.
Pretty much you are sent to hell and eventually become a demon. That is how Ruby came to be but for some reason, she remembers her life as a human.
Also they explained that the human-demon kids were meant for Azarel’s plan to release and eventually lead his demon army. Remember at the end of season 2, Sam got sent to the demon kid death match and the winner opened the demon gate?
Very true, but he wasn’t just asking about those kids. He’s wondering what the cross-roads demon hoped to gain by sicking hell hounds on those with whom it made deals with (sending them to hell, more generally). I’m not sure, myself. Although, if those people stand to become demons at some point, that’s one more among their ranks.

When/where does it say that? It’s not that I don’t believe you, but they’ve pretty much always banished demons back to Hell before actually killing them with the colt or the knife.
i think he meant theology its been a thing in christianity that the war lucifer caused between heaven and hell, demons and angels involved, those who died ceased to exist. but this is coming from sumtin i remember when i was 8.
Before the knife and Colt all hunters could do is send them back to hell. They explained killing them they cease to exist which is why they fear dying.
