If you need a paper bracket, you can print out these copies and use them:

They worked pretty well for our ST tournaments when we first started out, until we decided to switch to challonge.

My apologies I couldn’t make it on Wednesday. Had lots to do before leaving town. Is it still possible for me to join you guys? Future meetings at A&C shouldn’t be a problem for me.
Trust me, regular tourneys with pot payouts will keep people salty.
If you really want a ranking though, we could just say that 1st is worth 7 points, 2nd is 5 and 3 is 3 points and work it out from there.
I could steal my brothers laptop and run a bracket offa that, or we could try the Kinko’s idea.
I would like the JED07 to please call my cell.
Shall I post an announcement of our impending st tourney on the 27th in the A&C thread?
Before I do that, are there any more questions or suggestions to my idea before I go ahead?
Also, what’s the status of the supergun Unnessential?
EDIT
I thought about the novice and veteran system some more and realized it needed some further fixing.
Basically, I want to change it so that certain player levels aren’t all on the same bottom level together.
There shall be 3 levels of novice: Initiate, Intermediate and Advanced. The point of this is that each level takes a different amount of tourney wins b4 they become veterans. Initiate requires 3 top novice place finishes, Intermediate 2 and Advanced only 1.
Initiates are complete scrubs at fighting games, or haven’t even played a capcom fighting game before.
Intermediates have played fighting games before especially from capcom’s collection.
Advanced players have ST experience but have never really distinguished themselves yet.
This way, the advanced players won’t milk off the system for 3 whole tournies while the lower levels feel discouraged and don’t bother again.
It’s a good idea, but as I keep fearing, having something that complicated will be hard to manage, and drive people away regardless…
how much “st” experience separates advanced players from intermediates? If they have that much ST experience than I don’t think they should be considered novices…
Initiates and intermediates can be lumped together…
As for the supergun setup. I haven’t done anything to it since the last meeting. I ordered parts, but they haven’t come in the mail yet…
I’ll run a few tests at home again, and if it works consistently, then I’ll bring the supergun again, (keep in mind, i did test it at home last time and it worked fine as well,) But I’ll bring Toodle’s Fighting Game Disk, for dreamcast just in case my supergun borks
Also the way you assigned points here, the best players will come out on top almost every time since it is a tournament structure… they will have huge leads, people will feel like they won’t be able catch up. The reason why I wanted to do “challenges” for the rankings was because the rankings would be more random and would fluctuate a lot.
I want there to be motion on the leaderboards (which is why I made the initial rankings the way they were…) There won’t really be any movement if you 're basically holding tournaments and top 3 get points…
As I was saying before, I don’t really want the thing to ever “Resolve”. It’s supposed to just be a piece of paper that makes people feel salty.
You know what. f* it. Lets just stick with the challenges. It’s the simplest, and it accomplishes most of my goals. I’ll add a new rule for David Spence. Guests can challenge anyone, and their name will stay for 1-2 months after they leave.
The whole point of the novice and veteran tournament idea was to start attracting new players into the system by luring them in with the prospect of free money. Without any risk on top of that.
Separating the different levels of novice would keep underdog ST players from stomping the complete newbs all day.
The differences between an advanced player and an intermediate player would be that the advanced player has some ST experience while the intermediate player would have none save for other capcom game knowledge. Like a cvs2 player or 3S player.
As for the points system for tourney placements, frankly it didn’t really matter because all anyone really cares about is who the top 2 are in any tourney result. You don’t need a points system to realize who the top dog is and who to gun for. The salt will flow regardless of a points system.
If you wanna use the challenge system that’s cool. However, let’s try to figure out a way to draw in those new players so we can increase our base.
Biggest issue is that either way, money has to be involved. Especially if we decide to focus on our group and leave player base expansion for later.
Now THAT will get the salt pouring.
EDIT
Oh btw, as for advanced players who have some st knowledge but shouldn’t be considered novices because of that knowledge.
Frankly, those individuals in question will not join if they have to fork over $5.
PERIOD.
We’ll be lucky if they even give the whole novice idea a shot even though it’s free for them to enter.
It’s all about interest, which they currently do not have for whatever reason. However, if some of them begin to see a resurgence of ST, they just might come back for more. Many from this particular lot have always balked at the idea of me, Kevin and Brett ever actually beating them in any game at competitive level condition.
They would love to put us in our place if given the chance.

Ok, who’s interested in coming over if I were to host on Saturday the 23rd? (4pm-1am)
Me.
8 say we use the challenge system for now (at the very least to build up funds for the novice pot) once we have enough for 2-3 entry fees then we’ll start tourneys
I’m dow. For the 23rd. Oh also I received half the parts for the supergun today, hope 8 get the rest next week…
Got some more parts on friday. Just waiting for one last piece now…
Alrighty, I’m down for hosting this Saturday!

We’ll have Unessential’s setup as well as another PS2 setup however I’m recommending people bring PS2 sticks. My stick shorted out and I’m trying to fix it before Saturday.
EDIT: Mini-tournaments (aka. Brettcave round-robins) being played:
–Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition (PS2 Standalone NTSC-J version) [ft3/5]
–Super Street Fighter II X: Grand Master Challenge (ARC via Unessential setup) [ft7/10]
I should be coming next week, can’t guarantee it, but I don’t believe I have anything planned or anything that will intervene. I`ll bring a bunch of shit too just incase people need anything.
So, three people so far?!? :looney:
Better make that 4 Brett, I’m in.
I’ll bring my XBOX and PS2 setups too if people want to use them. If people need transportation from the GTA I can help with that too.
I’m coming, but i’m not sure I can get the supergun working by saturday…
If not, I’ll bring my sticks w/ Dreamcast cables…
You have a dreamcast and Toodles’ Fighting game collection disk .,… right?
Thanks all for coming and the footage will be up by Monday! Over FOUR HOURS recorded! Will post it up once done!
There is a rule in Brettcave; everyone fights everyone.
Next projected date: July 14
