Super Turbo revival in Southern California at Super Arcade

Check out the AE86 machine.

Sounds good Muffin. Although it might be a bit of a nightmare to keep track of challengers who were not previously on a list, who challenged someone on the list, and are not eligible for another challenge.

Are we going to reset the boards on a consistent basis, or just leave it as is? Do we reset it every time we hold another ranking tournament? Are we planning on using a points system to reward consistent players?

I kind of like the idea of having a fixed ranking system, and the only way to move up or down is to win/lose challenges. Speaking of challenges, are they going to be a FT5? 2/3? 3/5?

Waiting for DNGR S Papercut to challenge Watts :coffee: Oh and synco I want that spot consider yourself challenged

Personally, Iā€™m not a fan of resetting the board, but itā€™s a group decision. As for keeping track of the challenges, it shouldnā€™t be too hard since they will be posted here or noted at Super Arcade when we meet up. Lastly, the players can decide on who many games they want to play for challenges.

Since WNF has added TNF (Thursday Night Fights), we can change over to Thursdays if you guys prefer that over Wednesday. Post up if you have a preference; otherwise, Iā€™ll just assume that weā€™re going to show up on Wednesday.

No tournament this week by the way! Only casuals and challenges to prepare for Saturday.

Oh! Forgot to mention that Watson challenges must be played on the American cab and can be accepted at his discretion (he may be busy or unable to play). Sorry guys, but it is Grand Master Challenge :stuck_out_tongue:

I was good to go last night, but it was already way past closing time. Iā€™ll probably swing by tomorrow night to play him. Who knows, maybe even tonight.

Iā€™m super jealous of you fools because youā€™ve got everything going on now. Japanese H2H setup, competition, streaming, regular sessions, real arcade atmosphere, a leaderboard, active OGs and communication/community among players.
Iā€™m on spring break for one week right now and my free time is going to waste. No oneā€™s posting up in the norcal ST thread. Weā€™ve got arcades, but hardly anyone wants to/is able to get together and play.

ā€œIf you build it, they will come.ā€

Iā€™ve always wondered where that came from actually.

I forgot I was going to a Tyga concert so I wonā€™t be able to make it on Wednesday unfortunately. I will be there on Thursday and maybe Friday if anybody wants to get some practice in.

Iā€™m sad to hear that, maybe some players will come out during the Evo quals? I believe northwest has a qualifier spot available to them.

If you want, you can try holding free or low-entry fee tournaments at your local arcade. It might get some people interested in trying ST, as well as bring out some hidden ST players who think that the local scene is dead. Iā€™ve noticed that even at my local arcade, which has no ST scene at all, as long as I show up and Iā€™m playing the computer, some people eventually try their hand at beating me. After you strike up competition, take it easy on them, show them how important having a sound strategy is versus doing fancy combos, they might start to enjoy it.

It came from the movie Field of Dreams, with Kevin Costner. The actual line is ā€œIf you build it, he will comeā€. But i guess it sounds cooler the way you said it.

Plus youā€™ve got to share your story about how the hell you managed to cut your finger while getting a hair cut.

A baseball field? I always thought they were talking about a brothel.

archived from sunday.

thanks to every one who made it out this past Sunday it was great to pick up the game again. thanks to the ST crew & Super Arcade i hope all you guys had a great time i know i did.

here is the archive video of the tournament http://www.twitch.tv/iebattlegrounds/b/312882783 i will upload individual matches to youtube next week.

again thanks to watson, muffin man, voltech and every one else that came to support. see you guys saturday!

Gonna head out tonight to practice with Papercut and Moocus. Anyone else down? Gonna be there at 8.

I was gonna come out and install the JLF sticks but I loaned out my car =\ Maybe Iā€™ll try to come later tonight or early tomorrow.

I challenged old man wats last night and failed to advance. It was old hawk vs o gat. Score was papercut 2 - watts 5.

New Rule: You canā€™t play your challenges Vs #1 without recording them and posting the vids on SRK.

I tried to, but the whole time we were playing, my fiance kept calling while the recording was going on.

ggs dng. ftr we played on the american set up cause i cant play on the jap one for ST :frowning: handicap in my favor heh. hope you guys do really well at evo and ill try my best to give input and stuff to help you all level up. maybe me and valle can do some training if you guys want it just to help with a couple things in matchups you guys might not be familiar with. see you all tonight! and dng, welcome to club ā€œlocked downā€ hahah. thats how my gaming career slowed down wheeeee!

How late you guys playing tonight?

Well if anyone is planning on challenging anyone tonight, Iā€™ll be around to record the whole thing.

I think having the OGs give us some advice on how to handle certain matchups, or just critiques of our playstyle overall, is definitely a bonus. Hopefully with a few months worth of practice between now and Evo, we should be able to stand our ground in ST against the other scenes across the US.
