SUPER Tallahassee Thread: Arcade Edition EX+ α

The game is garbage.

You people arguing the over the definition of the word “beta” are lifeless twats who need to get laid.
The point is the game was shit out of the box and releasing another full disc game 6 months later is like ramming a hot poker in my asshole. They could have fixed this game, but opted to bilk you foolish fanboys that are making excuses for poorly disguised marketing shenanigans. The game obviously wasn’t fully redesigned in 6 months. It was a lot of shit they cut out of the original. Withheld if you will. Keep em wanting more.

The early release is because they won’t compete with TTT2/Soulcaliber/SFvT next year. They could slowly release DLC but with the interest of the game waning the DLC buyers would fall off quick and beginning with the AE drop interest would be less and less. This way they get your money up front and before any of the hot games coming out and you completely forget about this turd of a game. Gogo MvC2:HDRemix!

Sidenote:
Honestly, I personally think minor DLC is horseshit. With the decreased lifespan and interest in games, I think that DLC releases should be done like Super>AE. One or two characters through DLC are just obnoxious. It should occur in blocks, renews interest far better than a small rapid fire succession. Plus it allows people to learn the system, MUs, priorities without constantly relearning the game.

It really doesn’t matter, we’re still going to play it, most of the people who prefer SSF4AE/BBCS2/KOFXIII will eventually lose interest and it’ll be back to Me, Logan, Ron, occasionally James or Mike G, and Drew when he’s salty at AE, playing this game. Logan’ll find the new easy mode, Ron’ll play a solid team of top/high tier and lower tier but solid team, and I’ll stumble across the team that will be dominant when the meta game has more than 5 months to develop.

Edit: Maximilian in his latest video says in the his next one he’s covering some controversial topics about UMvC3’s character selection and “Don’t lose hope for the Blue Bomber yet”. So… DLC.

Fairly certain almost everyone here gets laid on a semi-regular basis. Probably.

The game isn’t garbage but definitely has some glaring issues that will hopefully be fixed (to a degree) in UMvC3. Like I said, I’m cool with paying $60 and then $40 for such a large update, especially if it’s stuff that they just didn’t have time to fit in the original release. Like I said, back in the day we paid full price for more minor upgrades to games. Not sure why paying less for more is such a big deal now. If you’re complaining about the cost then you’re probably just poor.

This coming from the Sears and Roebuck? Pfffft you’re so full of shit, haha.

There will be so many copies of the ish around that ill wait to see if its worth the time. Balancing aside (not good enough to complain about imbalances aside from obvious ones), a couple of characters doesn’t warrant 40 more dollars.

And God damn, why can’t Dorm have a wavedash and a not crap flight mode? Trish Storm Wesker go!

EDIT: Trish Wesker Akuma. I see why you hos play him. Good Lord, this fool is the business. Jacks up the dmg and mixup output of my whoe team!

I’ve got no problems paying money if it’s worthwhile. I’ve definitely gotten $60 worth of fun out of MvC3, and I’ll probably get more when I start experimenting and actually playing shit. Whenever Drew fixes my damn XBox, at least.

Welcome to the new generation of fighters everyone.

-Easy execution characters with a low learning curve but are low-risk/high reward
-Fighters are going to drop for $60, then they’ll gradually update them and you’ll have to pay for every update past a certain size
-Before, the shitty characters were rarely played. Now it will be the shitty characters and the high execution characters. Tourneys will be mostly easy top tiers and variations of top tiers and high-mids. The easy top tiers will win a majority of tournaments.

And it won’t mean shit to any of us, b/c we’re still gonna play the POS games till our kids put us in the ground, or develop horribly debilitating arthritis, whichever comes first.

if it is just you, you are welcome to stay with us for free, i have an extra bedroom

The first time I’ve ever clicked a ‘like’ button.

@GMike: I may take you up on that offer for a few days! Depends on if things are too crowded at the place on Conradi. I wonder how long it’d take to get from your place to TCC by 8 AM, haha.

bout a 30 min drive with traffic

the orange ave extension is a nice strait shot to the west side

Oh yeah, forgot about that.

Side note on UMvC3: Did they really make Viper’s EX moves cost only half of a bar now? Oh man…

Let’s be honest, it makes sense flavor-wise, we’ll see where it goes in November as far as her strength

Finally cracked the 50% barrier with Rain… Works anywhere but you have to use damage buff and X-Ray

Anything going down today?

Ill be playing both games just fine. Now with equal the saltiness =P

oh yeah and ill be playing KoF too.

TO comment on the whole business with Umvc3, Im actually surprised they went this route, i thought the versus games were kinda of immune to the version iteration thing, but honestly its not that surprising. I do feel that it should have been DLC package if it wasn’t heavy gameplay changing ala AE and BBCSII. but when you look at UMvC3, BBCS and Super, more is done to these games than just a couple characters and some balance tweaks. They’re tweaking the actual gameplay aspects. Though im pretty sure it wasn’t as prevalent with Super as far gameplay aspects, adding in a whole other ultra was pretty big in itself i feel. Thats alot of hit and hurt boxes to take into account and work with , as well as the overall damage of characters being reduced thus making the game a slower pace. BBCS felt like it had a biiger retune, especially with the barrier and burst mechanics, but i honestly don’t play BB enough to comment on this. UMvC3 is looking like its going to have a lot of tweaks and then throwing in 12 new characters justifies another disc based release much like super NEEDED to be another disc based release. Look at it this way, Jill and Shuma were 5 bucks each so lets say that the 12 characters WERE released as DLC. thats 60 bucks, minus the engine tweaking new stages, new online, etc etc etc. So in all honesty, just like Super and BB, i feel the company is giving us a good deal that they DON"T HAVE to.

Now that i’ve got that out of the way, My major issue with UMvC3 is by the time it releases, its only gonna be 9 months, the game and its update are going to be released in the same year… While I am happy that it is getting a MUCH needed update with some characters that I love but probably never play, I feel its too soon. and some of you will probably comment that I am too scrubby to say this but god damn it let a meta game develop. I felt this way with the SFIV series as well. Each iteration of the game only had a year of face time and thats it. proto MvC3 is only seeing the light of day for 9 months and for 4 of those months no one really gives a shit cause UMvC3 is on the way. This can be contributed to three things. The companies themselves KNOW they are delivering half assed products and that updates are planned in the drafting stages of the first game, or the companies are bending to the fans every will by complaining that something is brokeand it must be changed (If they listened to Chris, the characters prolly would only be able to breathe on each other to fight =P), the third reason is simply the players are figuring out these games alot quicker than they did 10-12 years agon, thanks to the internet and such things and the companies realize that updates like these help generate hype and interest in the game even though we all bitch about it. I feel that it could be an amalgamation of these three tings personally, although i agree alot with Andy that this shit had to be in development before the final game even released and i feel that the whole mother nature thing was a bull shit excuse. Capcom even admitted to releasing the game knowing that it had those game breaking glitches and in the 5 months it was out there was like 5/6 patches. Thats alot in such a short time period honestly. I digress though, We’re all prolly gonna pick up UMvC3 there really is no sense in denying it.

@Ron I would like to point out that MvC2 was the culmination of everything before it, including Xmen COTA, thats the point of sequels =P

I have alot of hope for UMvC3 and im really getting back into Proto MvC3 playing Tron, she’s fun and for me she’s hard cause i can’t do DPs lol. I will say that i do enjoy AE alot more and that because I like the pacing of the game and the game isn’t trying to give me a siezure. MvC3 DOES have alot of glaring flaws that I can’t believe some of you overlook =P but its whatever.

Any way i know its kinda lengthy and long winded but i just wanted to get my point across

I overlook some of the flaws because I enjoy it

I feel like some of the people (not necessarily anyone in this thread) whining are just being unreasonable, like they’re entitled to something. The game’s announced, it’s coming out. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. X (not Mega Man X, X as a placeholder) isn’t in it. If you don’t like that, don’t buy it. Until November, Capcom’s going to tease us with how the gameplay has changed, and how the new characters are going to play. Take this time to reflect on whether or not you really want this product. Watch some videos, ask some questions and stop whining.

If you don’t support this product, don’t give Capcom your money. Otherwise, shut up.

Man who cares? As Chris A said there will be enough copies floating around that if you don’t wanna buy it you never really have to lol. Unless you want p.mode.

I am looking forward more and more to Soulcalibur 5 with every update! Game is looking good. I still play 4 if anyone is down to play.

Mike J: hahahahahaha. I want you to remember this moment cus I’m gonna have a whole lot of fun with this. Seriously though, don’t confuse complaining with discussion (with complaints dispersed in it). People are just talking. Now… If you don’t want to read it, then feel free not to. Just as its their decision to spend money on said game, its your decision whether to read their commentary about it.

So Trish Wesker Akuma day 1 got blown up (not surprising) because of this elusive thing called assists that I don’t use well (read: at all) . I did pull off the “hot” X-factor gun combo first try and the shit was so not the new hotness.

Chris, I was venting my frustration about the internet’s reaction as a whole. I understand that there are valid complaints. I respect some of them, most of them are based conjecture and misinformation and that’s what frustrates me. Some of those may have been peppered in some of your discussion, but it’s whatev.

I wish I could like this** 1000000** times. Also, Wesker Gun combo WAS the hotness… GGs to Chris and Mike G last night.

@Drew: The metagame in MvC3 is pretty much done.
