I am in. I would like to play in both the Super Sunday and the 2v2 team tournament. I play on Kaillera with the handle EvilSamurai
Show up 15 min. early because you need to be ranked first for the point battles. You’ll have to go against Little Mac. There are a few heads looking for team mates that are posted on the first post I think. Hit one of them up for the team battle.
Show up earlier if you want some casuals. I’ll try to be there early.
Welcome to the fun.
Raisin, I might have someone new today also. I helped ShinVega get online and invited him. He said he would so I guess the earlier you guys can show up the better.
I think you guys might have plenty of work today.
Hey, EvilSamurai, good to have you! We’ve actually played before, so I don’t think you need to go through the process of getting a preliminary rating, because we can probably just get a starting number and go with there. I’ve PM’d you the info.
Like djfrijoles said, we’re gonna start the party a little early today, because we have people who need starting rankings for solo battles and we need to give people a good chance to find teammates for the 2v2.
I’m gonna rename the chat rooms for today. Hopefully they’re more self-descriptive…
S.S. New Players is for newcomers who need to get a starting rating for solo battles. This room will be be available in the half-hour or so leading up to event.
S.S. Solo Battles is where you can find opponents for ranking matches. You can also just hang out here or shoot the breeze.
S.S. 2v2 Hangout is where you should be between playing games in the Double Trouble tourney. That side event will be coordinated here. I’ll put this room up early so people seeking teams can find others easier.
S.S. Tourney Desk is where you go to announce the start of a solo ranking battle and the place for the winner of a match (either solo or 2v2) to announce the result. We only need the winners to report back afterwards. Tip: We can process your result a little faster if you say “I beat [opponent]” rather than just “I won,” where we have to look back and find who you were playing to mark the results.
Please don’t hang out in the Tourney Desk room unless you’re announcing a match start or match result – use one of the other rooms for that.
is that irc? ^ if so whats the server name?
No, we don’t use any chat programs like IRC.
Just log onto Kaillera and come into the GodWeapon server and then look for those names he just listed (SS Tourney Desk, etc).
ok thanks ^
Little Mac and I probably won’t be taking part in the 2v2 tonight. We could probably pull it off, but we think the risk of it slowing everything down would be too great, and tonight looks to be pretty busy anyway.
I just realized that there’s only 16 people allowed in a GodWeapon chat room, so if all 8 teams and me and Little Mac (and others?) are there, it’s possible it could get full and we end up with too many people, haha. I’d just make a 2nd room in such a case. It’ll be okay.
Dang,
I wanted a shot at you two.
good games immortal. Im gonna get better trust me.
was fun other than the fact that dj grabbed me in a 360 while he was being hit by hondas super

…
Hectic and messy: I want to apologize for any disorganization tonight. We were trying our hardest to keep up, but a lot of stuff kept trying to trip us up. We’ll do everything possible to make next week MUCH smoother and more fun than ever for you guys.
…
On side events: These are going on the back burner for now. We don’t plan on any more side events until if or when the desynching problem gets fixed. Unlike solo games that players can take at their own pace and don’t affect a ton of other people, there is just way too much that can go wrong with desynching and trying to have a large, organized event.
In the 2v2, we had a team in the finals ready to play that had to wait for a LONG time because the other half of the tourney bracket was still stuck in the quarterfinals. I don’t fault the players at all, because I know they’re trying their hardest to make things work as best they can. It’s just a problem with the current hardware.
…
2v2 controversy: I want to address what happened in one of the semifinal brackets due to desynch problems. Robogesso and his teammate (who asked not to be named) were paired against immortal and ninja. But here’s what happened:
Robogesso vs. immortal= “no contest” (impossible to play due to desynchs)
[Robo’s teammate] vs. ninja = “no contest” (again, desynchs ruined it)
So what was I supposed to do? Flip a coin to determine which team advances? Disqualify both teams? No, I went with the only good idea I had, which was to swap the team orders and try to play these opening games in a different way:
[Robo’s teammate] vs. immortal = “no contest”
Now what? With still no results so far, I decided that the fairest way to determine a winning team would be to take whatever the result of the final game, if there was a winner, and declare that team the winners by a score of 1 to 0. And as proof that I wasn’t trying to favor one team or the other, I’ll note that I made this decision while the match was still taking place, long before I knew what the outcome of it was going to be:
Robogesso vs. ninja = Ninja managed to claim victory. He and immortal also ended up winning the tourney.
You can see why Robo’s teammate would be frustrated. His team ended up losing while he himself never actually lost a match. But I don’t know what else I could have done; we had been waiting ages already, and we had tried every combination of games between the players possible. I refused to determine an outcome based on wild speculation that one player or another was purposefully claiming desynch when losing to avoid victory. Not only is that impossible to prove, but I feel that would’ve been unfair, because I trust all the players involved here, and I believe the desynch problems were legitimate. So I went with the most reasonable option that I could see.
…
Next week should be better than ever. Hope to see you guys all there!
I just want to point out that nFBA, along with its associated kaillera dll, is truly amazing, and we should seriously consider switching to it.
I don’t know why, but I definitely notice less delay when using this emu. Macumazahn (sp?) and I played some 3s on it today and he also commented on how much less delay there seemed to be. Oh, and of course it doesnt crash like .64 does.
I know the community seems stubborn with sticking to .64, and its not so easy to change one person at a time, but I for one will be trying to use this emulator when possible from now on.
Edit:
Dowload the 7z file and dll file from the top of the list on this page:
brian. you might know this but i dont. how do you bring up the menu to change speeds?? this emu also supports hyper st…we might have to start using that rom as well i think
nevermind that i jus tried it and it does bring it up my bad
The Final Burn product had a gold release? That’s awesome. It’s not like I’m a big fan of Mame 0.64 or anything; it’s just that I felt it was less sucky than some other options and had wide distribution. nFBA gets instant credibility in my book.
Didn’t 0746 say he was working on the desynch issue in this forum somewhere too, or was that my imagination? I can’t seem to find it with the search feature anymore.
If this emulator is really good, I would be all for making a switch to it, and we can probably get community-wide acceptance of it if we all move together. For now, I highly encourage everyone here to playtest neoFBA and give your feedback.
It wouldn’t surprise me if it had less input delay than MAME. I keep seeing conflicting numbers for the # of frames of input delay for the various emulators, so I’m not sure, but yeah.
Anyway, I hope it’s true.
Me and Denny tried it out last week when it was still a WIP. We played ST. It had a promising start, booting up much faster than mame and the character select screen was very responsive, but had terrible frame rate issues when the background would scroll which made it unplayable. It happened on both our systems, windowed and full screen. Hopefully it doesn’t happen anymore, will try it again tonight.
i love nfba for sf2 that is.
and i also consider it to be the standard.
