Super Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition "S" - Now Available!

Amazon had round 1’s for $100 shipped as of last week…I just checked right now & it’s back up to $130+ now. Checkout the trading outlet forum since peeps are always selling if you don’t mind it being used.

Yeah, just yesterday amazon had them for 100 new for a few hours! I regret not picking one up. To be honest, I was going to get an “S” stick, but i keep hearing about the corners being a problem and uncomfortable over time… so I’m just torn on what to do. Seeing as I could try to get the 1st gen TE’s for less, I’m considering that. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I love the way the black S edition looks, but I can’t help but think I’m not going to be satisfied because the original TE build quality might be a bit superior? Thanks Jimmy for the heads up!

While I haven’t used an S Edition, there are plenty here saying it’s just as rad as the original, protruding plastic be damned. Still, if it sounds like something that’d bug, then get an original.

You’re welcome! FWIW, I’ve never had an issue w/the corners being uncomfortable along w/sharp edges & my hands are pretty big (for the “S” sticks) when playing for 2+ hours each time. In fact, I’ve never had an issue w/any of the TE’s (had rd1, rd 2 & currently have MvC2 also “S”). I might sell one of them since I Just got a HRAP V3-SA yesterday & gonna try it out for the 1st time today. IMHO, even though I’ve never had pcb issues w/any of the TE sticks, I’d get an “S” stick just for that reason alone since I hear it’s new & improved (to what extent in terms of reliability, I have no clue although I’m assuming Madcatz replaced it for this reason alone).

damn, i am still in a dilemma between 1st gen and S edition stick …

Went to open to change the gate to octo, but the bottom panel screws suck and 3 out of the 4 bigger screws got stripped in the process so I don’t even want to bother with the bottom. What’s the name of the proper screw driver to open it from the top side of the stick so I can go to my local hardware store and purchase it

Allen wrench or Allen key

You can’t even change the Restrictor Gate even if you got the Bottom Panel off.
Have to open from top.

Need 3mm Allen Wrench.

I’m happy with the TE-S, I bought two actually, I’ve used the round 1 and feels about the same to me, I guess it comes down to aesthetics and if you want the side pieces or not. The “sharp” corners are a non-issue and I wouldn’t bother to sand it down.

FWIW Fry’s electronics has the Round 2 PS3 on sale for $99.99,

I will have a promo during MWC.

@MarkMan: Thanks for the quick response MarkMan! I apologize if this is a redundant question, but what is MWC, and what date will that be?

I am actually leaning towards the 1st gen TE stick, I actually liked the white sides, it looked nice! But again, i am concerned with the PCB. Was it THAT big of an issue in the first one, because i don’t recall it ever happening before. Though I like the S, I can’t help but think the faceplate this time was attached too well. I will have to try for myself. Thanks to Blitzd for the info. Unfortunately, there are none available at my store or anywhere nearby. I don’t like th black on the Round 2, IMHO. Any other suggestions to sway me? Please feel free to respond, and thanks for all the help guys. Hope all of you are enjoying SSF4, im waiting for my copy to come in the mail. =/

Received my Round 2 stick. It’s nice, different than I thought it would be. Still want to build my own with my own color scheme tho.

Interesting that the Round 1-2’s bezel fits onto the TE S Stick! Says you can turn it into an original TE Fightstick! Now if I can find out if I can buy that separately from Mad Catz or order some kind of bezel, I’m buying two of these TE S Fightsticks right now.

Edit: Guess they would have to sell the metal part too with the sticker art, sans buttons and joystick ETC, so I could slap it on a TE S Fightstick. I doubt that will happen tho. But how cool would that be? It could be like Burger King, have it your way! They should! Instead of releasing new sticks, they could release new artwork. Modular artwork for Round 4! I’m calling it!

I’ve used the SSF4 Fightstick for a while now and no complaints. I don’t like the edges but it doesn’t bother me when I’m playing.

P.S. I also won a XBOX 360 SSF4 stick recently and I’m selling it in my signature. LMK if anybodys interested.

I’m sure Mad Catz will take care of any PCB problems, and even if they don’t there are a few cool aftermarket PCBs to choose from, and they don’t run that much at all. You might lose turbo with an aftermarket PCB, but you don’t have to bury the Fightstick! It’s a good long term investment cus they are so easy to upgrade. Now if only you could fix an Xbox 360 this easy. The more I learn, the more I want to build my own stick next. The Round 2 I have is sweet, if I find a good deal on the TE S Fightstick, I’ll defiantly pick it up too. I kinda want to mod out a TE S Fightstick now.

Thx for the help guys, loving the 8 way. I noticed right after (could’ve been doing this before, not sure) I switched to 8 way everytime I hit left theres some type of squeaking sound, still works fine just rather annoying. WD-40 the answer?

Don’t use WD-40. I don’t know too much about sticks but I know WD-40 eats up plastic.

Use silicon oil instead.

Roundhouse button issues again with Madcatz TE S…wtf!? :-\ this is a big disappointment, they only had to fix this ONE problem!

This happened to mine. I just switched L2’s wires (since its never used) and put them in the R2 destination. Swap the button connectors respectively and you should be good (not sure if this is a long term solution thou)

EDIT: Misread your post, this happened to my SE, but either way it shouldn’t be any differnt
