Are talking about the “S” version or the older ones?
Well seeing as this is the TE “S” thread I didn’t think I had to be specific. Yes, its the new one. Since the two times it got messed up there have been no more incidents. I did the grounding mod to try it out and I’ll report back after 10 hours or so of use.
I guess when they said they “improved the PCB” they just meant they added the feature to lock the start/select buttons instead of fixing the issue of the self-destructing PCB
After ample playing time with the Happ perfect 360, I have come to appreciate a “cornerless” joystick. Switching over from many years with a MAS SuperPro stick to my Madcatz TE:S stick was and continues to be no easy feat. I cannot say that I agree with the japanese-style layout. Perhaps in time, I will change my mind. Though, I can honestly say that despite any short-term prejudices against the Madcatz TE:S, the more I use the easier it becomes to play with. So to acheive a “cornerless” joystick, I just purchased the Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate hoping that it will indeed improve the movement.
I was hoping that a few of you may have had some experience with the part or could offer an opinion in replacing the restrictor plate. It seems easy enough to do, no problems there, however, I just would like to know if spending the money was indeed worth it?
You already ordered it so why not just try…it.
Dude, I own a te-s and I will tell you right now that you need to get hands on with one before you buy! The edge is noticeable and sharp to be honest. It’s not a deal breaker for me, but I feel it should have been addressed when they designed this thing.
Any REAL solutions to fixing this problem yet?
I live in Oz, and I can get a TE “S” about $25 cheaper than the original. Still $225 though ><
Would love to get a new black “S” for my PS3 to replace my Hori 3 SA… but I really dont want
to buy it and wait 2 weeks to get it onto to find its uncomfortable. If anyone how found a way
to fix the sharp edge, I’d be very grateful to hear it!
Cheers.
My Round 2 Shipped!
Thanks for the reply.
The reason i asked about the version is because i thought that they fixed the problems when they said that they changed the PCB.
Does this really work to fix that issue?
I thought the Cthulhu chip was a PS3 pcb?
Well I heard the “S” edition has a 4/8 way so all I’d have to do is rotate the gate, correct?
Yes.

Decided to just grab a MvC2 TE. Bloody thing cost me $241 US all up from shop.capcom.com.
You guys in the states have no idea how lucky you are to get these things so cheap.
Found a place I can grab a TE-S for a measly $205 US. Thinking I might just grab one and
then re-sell it over here if I can’t stand the sharp edge. Would love to hear more opinions
from SRK users though. Specifically any players with large hands who play with the stick
resting on their lap

does this stick attract a lot of fingerprints like the 1st gen TE?
Youre understanding of this is wrong. By rotating the square gate, you’re only locking the stick to 4-way operation: in other words, up, down, left, right - no diagonals.
It’s shiny what do you expect
Hehe, the round 2 was pretty bad for fingerprints so I imagine the black TE-S wouldn’t be much better
@Markman: IS there any chance that you/Madcatz will be posting another 20/30% off coupon code in the future. I missed out, and I’m looking to buy a first generation TE stick!
Anyone know where I can get a TE stick for PS3 for 100 out the door?! Thanks to all responses in advance.
Here are some videos comparing the two tops in partly disassembled states:

Dam, Amazon just had that price recently. Like this week. But it went back up I think. I have just been google shopping the term “fightstick” all week. LOL
