Coming from custom stick making where each complete stick would end up costing anywhere from 200-400 dollars I never thought the madcatz sticks were expensive. I still think they’re dirt cheap to this day considering you get everything with it. I’d gladly buy these sticks knowing there is a pcb problem and just replace the pcbs inside. (99 bucks for a solid case, jlf/buttons, etc. great deal imo)
But yeah, JMRO said the problem is with static discharge and he hasn’t had the issue reoccur ever since he did it.
I can’t confirm whether or not this works. I got a new TE a day ago that has the trigger problem as well, so I’m trying this now. I’ll update how it’s going as soon as I see another issue.
Well I just got my TE-S in and, to be honest, I’m a bit disappointed. The build quality on the new details doesn’t seem to match that of the original TEs.
First of all, both black side panels have a very noticeable gap between them and the base which is very apparent (and annoying to the touch) at the front.
The white plastic underneath the graphic is a bad call on the version with black art. It’s a bit of an eyesore and wasn’t cut with a very sharp blade/saw, giving it somewhat rough-looking edges.
The art material itself is thin enough to become victim to “craters” where the screws are. This may be because they were over-tightened in the factory, but this also looks bad now because the surface looks so inconsistent/wavy.
This stick caters to people who customize them, so I’m not sure why they put so much double-sided tap underneath the graphic (my fingers still hurt).
I hate to make a list of negatives, since I do love the smaller side panels an the art itself. And after all of the complaining I heard, the edge of the art doesn’t even bother me at all. I really wanted to LOVE this stick, but these few things are making me question my purchase. I suppose some acrylic from Arthong might fix most of it, but that’s another $30.
Don’t take my lonely opinion as reason enough to not get one. You should definitely check one out in person. As it stands though, I might get a round 2 instead.
Ive seen them in person. Much more privy to The R1’s and 2’s. As of now, the only TE’s I own are the SDCC & PAX(femme fatale) . I may eventually get the R1&2 for collecting.
I haven’t even seen the new TE’s in person yet, but from my point of view, there was never anything wrong with the regular TE’s so why change? I’ve always liked that it was wider.
I keep ordering the Black PS3 Fightstick TE S up on Amazon and I keep canceling it! I just can’t pull the trigger. I think ultimately I want to build my own, just like I did with my PC.
But for now I need to get started with SSF4. Building my own will take lots of time and research. Can’t decide if I want a this stick here, a Round 2, or even a Marvel vs Capcom Fightstick. I’m so excited! This will be my first stick controller since the Advantage on the NES!

I say no on paper, cus I was just typing on my glass desk, with my wrist hitting that edge like, and it was like man, this must be what it’s like all day on that stick. Unless there is something so much better about the board on the new stick. This video helped tho.

Just ordered the SSF4 & PS3 Round 2 TE Fightstick from Amazon. Feels like the right choice for me. Release Date Delivery only ran me about 10 more dollars for both items. So excited, I’ll have both items by the 27th! Day One Dragon Uppercutting. I dig it.
If you’re really getting it and plan on sanding it, I would use something like 1000. Just don’t breathe in the dust (i.e. do it outside or the garage with the door open or better yet use those cheap mask style filters). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The edge doesn’t bother me one bit, and no one that has played on my sticks has said a word about it. I think all the edge naysayers are worrywarts.
