Super Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition "S" - Now Available!

FWIW, the edge hasn’t been bothering me like I thought it would. Unless you’re moving your wrist up and down as if you were trying to shave it on the plexi I don’t think it’ll cause most people any discomfort.

I just got my TE ‘S’ Stick tonight, and had about 4 hours worth of playtime with it. To be completely honest, I had no problem playing on it. The edge on the bottom of the stick didn’t bother me. I think it’s really going to depend of how you rest your hands on the face of the controller. For myself, the palm of my hand isn’t rubbing up against the edge while I’m playing, I have plenty of room for my entire hand to rest. Maybe I just have small hands, idk lol

On a side note, I’m am slightly bothered by the fact that the stick I bought had damaged packaging. The stick is spotless and perfect, but I wish the same could be said about the box that came with it. I’m a consumer that loves packaging, and being a graduate in graphic design I know the amount of work/effort that goes into creating something like that. I’m going to give Madcatz a call tomorrow and ask if they’ll either ship me a new box. I wouldn’t mind paying for it either, since I keep the packaging for all of my sticks.

If you have any doubts about the TE ‘S’ the best way to help with the decision making process is to try someones. If you know anyone, just spend some time with it if it’s possible. But as of right now, I love the TE ‘S’ fightstick.

I Just Got One Yesterday And I Am In Love With This Stick Been Playing SF4 For Like The Past 15 Hours No Sleep For Me. It Feels Really Nice On My Lap And Well I Really Don’t Know What Else To Say About This Stick It’s Great Go Get One

be nice guys, thanks for the feedback

Well You’ve Convinced Me! I’m Off To The Store As Soon As It Opens!

on a serious note, why would someone buy a new stick and come to srk to see how they’d like it. it’s in front of you yet you come on to this stupid site to see what other stupid people’s opinions are first who you don’t even know in real life. you can fucking return it after you’ve opened it to see for yourself.

honestly, putting $150 on some stranger’s opinion with a small defect that may or may not be with all “S” sticks.

picked up a TE-S for the 360 during the last promo and got 20% off. this is my first stick and i couldn’t

be any happier. i’ll probably switch out the artwork and buttons down the road, but will wait for the

warranty to expire first :bgrin:

Been happy with my TE-S but I just got my replacement plexi from arthong and went to install it and when I lifted the original plexi and artwork it left a large trail of adhesive on the case any suggestions for easy removal? I tried scrubbing it and removing it with my fingers but Im hoping there is an easier solution…

Had a TE-S for a couple of weeks now and I’m really enjoying it. I haven’t been able to put a lot of game time in just yet but that will change once SSF4 comes out. The stick felt a little different from my SE Fightstick that I modded with a JLF, but I haven’t broken this one in yet so I’m not concerned. So far so good, looking forward to logging lots of hours on this stick. I’ve had no problems with my wrists, though I play with the stick in my lap.

I just got my TE S yesterday and I gotta say that this stick is great. I would describe this stick as a polished more compact design from the original te. I also like it because, unlike the first te stick, this one doesn’t have all the unnecessary things like the bevel and the extra plastic on the side. This one feels just right.

Oh and the edges don’t bother me at all, even if i play on a table top.
Just saying.

Thanks guy for actually leaving feedback about how the edges are not an issue for some TE S owners.

isnt being able to get reliable reviews one of the good aspects about srk? i bought the stick cause i went to gamestop for something else and noticed they JUST got them in. i wasnt planning on getting one, but since i was lucky enough to be there when they arrived, i took it.

normally i would have checked reviews and whatnot before i bought it. so i came on SRK and read about it before i opened it, saw the edge issue and decided not to even bother opening it. i have other sticks. and i’ve had other ones that werent comfortable on the wrist. those are the ones i dont keep.

I think MadCatz focusing on the ease of customization let them sleep on it’s ergo-dynamics. I played on it myself, and find the sharp edge a minor annoyance. I look forward to them using laminates ala, Mame-Marquees on future revisions.

It should be baffling then to consider that people actually mod their older TEs with an even more prominent, sharper edge (full panel plexi).

No, it’s really not. I feel pretty strongly about how sad it is that people will go on some random forum…read 2-3 bad reviews on an item and have it sway their opinion so very easily. Consumers need to stop being bitches and stop relying so heavily on reviews.

Did you guys ever consider the possibility that 90% of the people reviewing items (not just here) are the ones who had a bad experience with it? The satisfied customers rarely give any form of input. Think about that one.

Edit: But I am very pleased to see that several satisfied costumers are giving their feedback as of late. Thanks guys.

^I was the one who posted about being skeptical about purchasing the TE S.

See I am in the market to purchase an additional stick because I already own the original TE stick and I love it dearly. I know the TE S is practically identical but since I like the original I wanted to make sure I will love the TE S just as much.

The reason I posted my opinion is because it seemed like this thread was getting polluted by opinions on horrible this stick is and since then I have actually read a reasonable amount of positive feedback about the TE S.

I consider many possibilities and greatly posted my opinion because I felt customers satisfaction is a major aspect of Marketing.

I know you have your opinion but it is not possible for you to read my mind because your statement about why I posted was completely incorrect.

Sorry but I wanted to hear from the customers who own the stick and had positive things to say about it.

Except, it really isn’t uncomfortable. People will just complain about everything, it’s the internet.

I switch between my lap and my desk.

Edit:

I fucking love you.

i got my stick, and love it, no emo wrist cutting action happened for me accroding to what people has been saying

I guess I will leave my feedback on the TE “S” Edition.

First, a little background…

I own every edition of the TE fightstick except for the SDCC version. I’ve got one stock, 2 with Art’s full plexi and even had the extended plexi (traded for a full plexi).

The “S” edition’s edges are NO different than Art’s full plexi. If you have played on a full plexi TE and had no problems, then you should not worry about the sharp edges that people complain about. On a side note though, I’ve had a few people play on my full plexi TE and they complained about the edge bothering them. I’m not sure why since I use it daily and have never had an issue, but hey…that’s their opinion.

Aesthetic impressions:

Once I unpacked the stick and saw it in person, I decided that I had to change the buttons asap. Luckily I already had some spare twisted sanwas with black rims and the xbox color scheme. I swapped those in there, replaced the dark hai with all black sanwas, added a black meshball and swapped the dust & shaft cover with a standard dust cover. I am 100% satisfied with the look of the stick now.

Playing impressions:

I’ve heard a few people complain about the joystick not feeling the same as a round 1 TE. I disagree. The stick feels exactly like the round 1 and round 2 stick to me. My femme fatale stick is a different story though. :frowning: The locking of start and select is amazing and probably the best feature/upgrade madcatz has done on the “S” edition. (Thanks MarkMan!)

I play on my lap and I will say that it took a minute to get used to playing with the “S” edition. I guess I’m so use to playing on the standard TE and didn’t realize that the white end caps were the main part of the stick resting on my legs. It was an easy solution though…just close my legs a bit (no homo).

Overall…I think madcatz did a pretty good job on the “S” edition and I don’t regret buying it. It might not be for everyone, but that is why the standard TE’s will still be plentiful. If there is a Round 2 of the “S” version, hopefully madcatz will use the twisted version of the sanwas for a cleaner look.

I didn’t notice that detail. The instructions only mentioned that the lock button disables the control module buttons, same for the Q&A about “Why don’t my Guide/Turbo buttons work?”

@spektrum Oh man I was just talking about doing that black button mod and I gotta say thank you for posting up that pic because it convinced me to go through with it. Lovin’ itttttt.
