Super Street Fighter II X/Turbo beginner thread

This forum does not get stuff like conversations going on, it is mostly about content, so often some threads get pushed to the second page or more. In the previous forum version, some would end up not being shown, but this has been fixed. Anyway, for a quick reference, character threads have been linked here so people can easily find them.

Character specific threads
Ask or learn strategies, character specific videos and whatever stuff related to a single character. If you have a question about a match-up, search both threads, and if you are still in need of help of want to discuss it, then post about it on the thread of the character you play.

This thread has content from so many people I would certainly miss an important and helpful person/poster. You know who you are.

Suggestions and corrections are welcome. Whatever helps new players find the information they want is a good thing, and will help keeping the forum clean.

I’ll see how many YouTube channels I can find off of the top of my head. Lots of them have videos that overlap of course. And that’s not even counting all of the stuff on Nico Video.

YouTube - alabamaman12345’s Channel <- great channel filled with small clips
YouTube - CCCPSoviet1917’s Channel
YouTube - Ponder360’s Channel <- has EVO2008 Top 8 ST
YouTube - messe102’s Channel

Might as well post these somewhere:

Hahahaha! What a post, dude! You are right, the tutorials are worth mentioning. As for channels, I guess they can all be listed in your post. As soon as it’s done, I will just remove them from the OP, and have a line there telling people about it. I believe it will look better this way, with not too much stuff to scare people or the like.

BTW, JaianRecital is Gian’s channel, the top Sim/sponsor guy.

This should be stickied or always bumped back to front page.
Very helpful, thanks.

Agreed, this post should be a sticky, it has lots of good links.

I really liked the content here:
http://super-turbo.net/

Oh wow, this thread is already fantastic. Sticky for sure.

I am not a beginner but I still play like one! Is it okay if I ask questions in here? :wonder:

Haha! Yeah, me too! It i really hard not to just decide to do stupid shit during matches!

I guess so. There is the ST in the House thread, too. If I got it right, it was the ST thread at FGD or somewhere else, then they created a section for ST and moved it there (i.e., here).

Edit: links fixed, and Pasky’s hitbox overlay added.

FYI, super-turbo.net is now http://ssf2t.net/

Thanks for the heads-up. I love that site. Unfortunately, the new forum prevents me from fixing the topic because it’s “1336 characters too long”.<br><br>Edit: <a href="Upcoming Site Improvements limit has been raised</a>. The post is fixed, in that sense. They’ve said they will fix the YT video tags, so I will leave them as they are, for now.<br>

Hey guys. I’ve been working on a ST Tutorial show aimed at beginner-level or brand new players who are getting into fighting games and ST. I focus primarily on basic concepts and fundamentals, and I’ve just started basic character tutorials to kind get you guys started. Each live episode is uploaded to YT every week. Here’s the playlist:

We also do a live show streamed over at http://twitch.tv/arkadeum every Saturday at 1PM PST. So please feel free to join us if you want to check out the show, hang out with us, and ask any and all questions you have pertaining to fighting games as a whole or for ST. Hope to see you guys there.

Just wanted to say thanks for those, as there’s lots of great stuff in there and it’s good to see it explained in action. I haven’t watched them all yet, but I’ve been catching an episode here and there. One of the guys you’ve had on the show was asking all the same questions I would’ve asked, so it really helps break everything down.

And anyone who’s played me on GGPO knows I need all the help I can get :open_mouth:

Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad to see these tutorials are helping several people in the community who are getting into this game. Feel free to join us for the live show if you can make it. This week’s episode will be starting later than normal, so it will start on Saturday at 2pm PST. If you have anymore questions, comments, concerns, feel free to ask.

First post updated. Is Fighter 101 being hosted somewhere else?

F101site is dead afaik

That’s too bad, the site had some good stuff.

Atleast the youtube channel is still up: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCBA2379E32539E64

And this should be the latest snapshot before the site went down: http://web.archive.org/web/20121023080251/http://fighter101.net/

The site is back up, but solely as a redirect to the youtube channel now.

For everyone who has never played Super Street Fighter II Turbo and wants to know how to get P1,
Player 1 costume is selected with Jab
Player 2 costume is selected with Medium Punch
Hyper Fighting costume is selected with Fierce Punch

The full color list can be found for each character on the ST SRK Wiki.
