Perhaps Spark Shock is actually his up tilt and shoryuken is his up smash? It’d make a lot more sense for Shoryuken to be a smash attack rather than a tilt…
Oh yeah I forgot to add the Top Spin as his Dash Attack and the Super Arm as his grab/throw attack.
I didn’t notice the Air Shooter before now-- thanks UnSaxon51!
I am amending my post with this information. I could’ve sworn that Sakurai stated somewhere that Spark Shock was Up Smash… I’ll have to check around.
Spark Shock is definitely Up Smash. Near the end of Mega Man’s segment of the Developer Direct video you can see him charging it, as well as Flame Blast (Down Smash).
It’s possible that Mega Man may be able to move and/or jump out of Mega Upper, but that hasn’t been shown as yet. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
However, even if that isn’t the case, I don’t mind because 1) Shoryuken makes more sense as an up-tilt to me, and 2) it makes sense with his move set of having hard-hitting non-mobile moves.
Pic of the day ‘Pic of the day. Mario Bros., your days are numbered! Donkey Kong in the current build is super strong…but we’ll be looking at the battle records when balancing out the characters, so nobody knows how he will turn out in the end.’
You can pop his balloons now…but he’ll be back. He’ll always be back…
In a much serious tone the question I have now is whether they more than one can be popped and if touching Villager at all will affect them. Like how Snake has armor on his up B…or maybe he has good air maneuverability?
If had to guess, it’ll work kinda like Balloon Fighter. With two balloons he’ll have good air mobility and be able to move around very well; with one balloon he’ll stay in the air but it’ll be harder to move around, and much harder (or perhaps impossible depending on how they want to balance it) to ascend for recovery. And hitting the villager himself will probably result in the balloons being cancelled out completely and him getting sent flying.
Now, I wonder if hitting him out of that special will allow him to attempt to use it again, or if he’ll be rendered unable to use it until he lands (like Pit in Brawl).
If he is able to use it again and assuming he has good maneuverability, I’d be ok it so long as any balloons that are popped stay popped until he touches ground. That might be a good balance for it. Of course we’d have to find out about the other factors first.
I thought about this in the morning and the applications it could have in the Smash universe and that would be a really good tool if he was able to do that. Jump cancel slide would mean that Megaman could possibly have a unique wavedash that can attack as he’s moving forward. Jump out of the slide then immediately fast fall down and do whatever. It’d also make it way easier for combo potential and possibly make edge guarding with him even more dangerous for pressure purposes. He could use the slide a meaty on the ledge (assuming he doesn’t slide off) and if they manage to sweet spot the ledge then he can jump cancel out of it into possible dumb shenanigans. Maybe jump right over top of the ledge and do his down air, or cancel out of it to just jump back and see what the person does. It’d probably be even more stupid with the leaf shield on him.
You know if Sakurai and Bandai Namco added interesting pre fight encounters scenes for certain one on one battles in the single player/adventure mode, that would more then make up for a lack of Subspace Emmisary style story telling.
The only problem is, with characters like Kirby and the Villager, I don’t think they will be able to hide those characters inherent meme like qualities of being psychopaths when trying to be cute and cuddly like they would prefer to.
I keep telling people… Kirby is a ruthless killing machine… He is driven only by instinct. When he is tired, he sleeps. When he is hungry, he eats. When he feels threatened, he will attack and he will not stop until the threat is no longer moving.
Wellman: Supported, but only if they put Captain N era Mega Man in there for regular Mega Man to fight. Imagine the “Now, fight your rival!” cutscene for that. If they can’t find the original voice actor, I’m sure we can find someone who does a good imitation of it.
